I was browsing through the NHL 2004 Mod forums and was blown away by the range and detail of mods on offer. There's even a 1996 mod. :-o 8-) I have no idea whether I still have my old NHL 2004 CD (it'll be 100s of miles away at my parents' house, if anywhere), but I really wish I had it installed on my laptop to try it out.

I'd love to take a look at the HTML stuff (I planned to do so a couple of years back), but I'm so snowed under it's ridiculous (roster updating, beta testing, redesigned the website, developing the EHM Updater and studying for my exams)! :-D How is the lack of HTML/JS knowledge hampering things? What sorts of things do you wish you could add via HTML?

Nothing is really "hampering things" but we don't have anyone with serious HTML/JS skills anymore. We used to have two real wizards (vod & egorgiy) but they were just part-timers. We could add virtually ANYTHING to the game. Player of the week, player of the month, all kinds of news, etc. Even salary cap, if someone had enough skills.

The interface is unbelievable already. But if we had more talented people we could make it even more unbelivable. :D

PS: Most gaming people don't realize how huge the NHL 2004 community has become. We have almost 6 thousand members already and there's another 4-5 thousand members (estimated) in Russian NHL04 communities and many online gaming communities (like NEHL). I never thought we could get that kind of figures for an old game title. Granted, some things in NHL04 are outdated (like player movement smoothness and general graphics) but we still get people back from the next gen/console community. This mod has a lot of things that console games could never offer.

96 mod.

I hope you don't mind, but I updated the links in the first post of this thread, linking to the new NHL04 Rebuilt forum.

Do you have a link to an HTML/JS addon? I'm curious to see what the code looks like.

Btw, have you been able to modify the AI in any way? The only thing that bothered me about NHL04 was the ease with which one-timers could be scored (but that's a complaint I've had for many iterations of the game).

What? One time clappers do not always result in top cheddar bar down snipshows? Come on of course they do

All code is in \html and \js folders in the \fe\nhl\ folder.

You mean the quick horizontal pass -> one-timer wrist shot? That's a good way to score... those can be reduced by adjusting the pass interceptions slider. No way to adjust the hardcode. There are some annoying things that we had to accept... like the excess hooking.

Time to post a small update.

We have cracked the gameclock engine. Now full HD version (this is WIP and coming soon). Game also supports any widescreen resolution like 1920 x

There's also full scoring and penalty summaries. Shot from a vintage mod (98-99) interface.

Upcoming Game Preview for the Season games. Each season game has unique previews.

Image

GameCast features are all clickable... shots, goals, penalties.

Some buildings.

Cyberfaces are better than ever before. Here's Mark Messier in 1998-1999 Canucks uniform.

This is really incredible stuff. I actually found my old NHL 04 CD the other day. One of these days I'll get round to installing it and your amazing mods.

I'm very impressed by this update. Is there an ETA on the interface? I looked all over 04 Rebuilt and couldn't find anything about a due date.

Interface features are all in and available.... scoring & penalty summaries and working GameCast. The Game Preview is coming sometimes in the summer when the 2015-2016 season is functionally ready to go. (Liiga, SHL stuff have to be finished first).

Long HD gameclock is coming with Launcher 1.5. It also has animated upper ads and new lighting effects. Check this video out.

Would love to play it, but the installation just seems too complicated for me.

There is nothing complicated.

Install base NHL 2004 game and then simply UnRAR all mod parts directly to your game installation folder and overwrite old parts. Interface.rar has to be unblocked.

That's it. You're ready to go.

If you can install EHM addons, you can install the mod.

Yeah, it's that easy. Thanks for the links!

Except what comes to the Sochi Olympics. Neither the guide nor the roster's readme file even mentions the whole folder.

New 2015-2016 release is ready (of course it's not finished but it's a good start).

Given the repeated spamming from the user named Konopes and his alias accounts, I am now locking this thread and any further posts about the NHL 2004 forum will be deleted. I'm sorry we're no longer supporting what is a great community and mod, but I cannot tolerate any further PM and post spamming - and especially when he is one of the moderators of that site.
