Yeah, can probably not help out with that. I may have many ideas how to make these thing, but not really any clue how to ACTUALLY do it.

I've made my decision, I guess I will find out sooner rather than later if it was the right one.

Sorry for not updating, but unfortunately I am very busy atm.

It happens... This is a big and ambitious project you're undertaking and I think everyone will understand that it will take time and energy. And it's not like any of us are doing anything fill the "freeware hockey manager void", so who are we to complain?

No money for him. Not til we see some progress. I know he is busy, but I do not buy into anything until I can see some of the product. At this point, there is nothing but speculation on this site.

Not to say dabo is not trying...he probably is busy as he says. But donator beware

I am waiting to get my hands on Visual Studio 2010, until then not a lot will happen. Also I have another person improving the original database I created.

You are right, also...

1. Money helps when I lack motivation, I lack time atm.
2. Money adds pressure to deliver quality, I don't want that. Now I can deliver rubbish and you cannot complain. ;)
3. I already said the game will be freeware, as long as development doesn't cost me anything but time, that won't change.

If you need any help once it comes to researching teams and leagues or some of the rules once you come to that point let me know. I would love to see the ability to make all leagues eventually playable so that it would be possible to coach and run a minor hockey team in bantam or midget with your players getting drafted by the junior teams and even getting called up to play a few games like happens in real life.
Keep up the good work it is much appreciated hope it all works out.

Wow!!! Never seen this thread before. Your really good dabo! What a job, I really like the pics you post so far. I'm sorry though I'm a noob with computer/programming so I can't really help. :-D But if I've got some ideas I'll post them here.

may i suggest using Out of the Park Baseball 11 as something to take ideas from... i know its baseball but there is some great features:

- Ability to play historical, fictional and real leagues
- Expansion/Relocation

and pretty well fully customizable.

it just seems as a good resource to look at as they have done very well with no real league licenses really, until this year i guess with real player names.. they just give gamers ultimate customization...

Actually, they've been including real roster sets since OOTP 8, I believe (which, as a matter of fact, is now freeware). But you're still right: OOTP is the benchmark in management sims.

But, axwel is also right: we're a long way from OOTP. It's gonna take years and years of dedicated development.

I finally managed to get my hands on Visual Studio 2010, now I am just waiting to hear from the database guy. Once I have everything set up I should be able to show you some early screenshots of the gui I have been working on.

I was thinking a good idea for the future might be the ability to create a player and manage what he does, negotiate contracts, say where you want to play. Just a thought.
