Personally, I would suggest not making any comparisons at all. Comparisons are usually seen as a means of determining which object is better than the other. That's why your comparisons to the Lidas DB are creating a bad vibe; It's being interpreted as you trying to make your database sound better than Lidas'.

And to be honest, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what you're trying to do. From the moment you started posting here, you've been coming off as nothing less than conceited.

Haven't noticed that. Think it all depends on what computer you got...

Yes it is!

Although the league is unplayable. :thdn: But I rather have it that way than have a complete diffrent story like the old RSL is. Where not every team fits due to hardcoding...

More players in a database will make the database bigger, or "heavier" as Lidas put it, regardless of your computer.

Better computers and bigger hard drives will handle that better, but since this is a very low intensity game, it's probably not safe to assume the user's have the hardware to enjoyably run huge databases.

Assume you have a computer that is not very fast and playing the game. Are you in a hurry for something?

I play to have fun, seems to take 2 days just get through the preseason for me. :-D

Speed can be serious issue for users. Simming one day (night) take approx. 4 seconds on my old PC (AMD Athlon 1800+, made in 2002) even there are no games. Saving take around 15s :-(
Using Lidas 2.3. If you have too many players in your db, I'll sim it the double amount of time? Really not playable for me then. I'm glad Lidas optimizes his db wisely

My advice; By a new computer, and that really fast because museeums are really after this treasures :-D

Kinda OT, but... I'm comfortable with it. I play simmulations (EHM, submarines, trains, planes) and other slow or old games ;) No hottest first person actions, too speedy for me :-D
As far as it can handle EHM with Lidas db, I'm fine. Once it won't be usable or EHM2011 comes out, I'll buy a new one.

End of OT :-p

Can I ask why you would make the KHL unplayable?

Also, it's very amusing to me that you're telling everyone to get a faster PC so they can run a mostly text based game that was released in 2006. :nerd:

I told McQuake to get a newer machine, and it was a JOKE, don't think I mentioned it to anyone else.

And about the KHL. I personally want it to be as real as possible and to re-create it is my better option. Because as said before the RSL doesn't have enough spots availible for all teams, so many teams wouldn't be playable anyway.

My computer is more than capable; I built it specifically for gaming. But I'm not thinking about me, myself, and I - I'm thinking about other people. Other people who may not have great PCs. And like I said previously, considering this is a low-intensity text-based sim, it's probably not safe for an add-on developer to assume his users have a high end PC.

That's not to say you can't do it. If you don't mind a huge database, that's fine. But don't be surprised if many people don't like your database because their computer can't handle that much.

M Ace--Before you respond to this...just read it, and answer the questions in bold. Read the whole thing. Not a slam. Just questionning you here as you seem to question us a ton.

You are the best editor EVAH! Well done dude, we are proud of you. Since you are not releasing your db on the site or anywhere else and are asking people to PM you to try it out, have you had any inquiries? Has anyone actually received and used it other than you? If not, I really do not give a dang what you have done with your db. Neither does anyone else really.

Bravo! You are a star editor. Best of luck with everything in your db. I hope it works and stops crashing on you like you said somewhere up thread it does.

As for me..I will stick with the Lidas DB's, done by researchers and editors I trust. Why do I trust em? Why do I know the research is good?

1. Trust--I have played at least 5 versions (6 of Lidas maybe) and never ever had a crash. You have started editing, and good for you. But you have admitted to crashes. You are rearranging a ton of things, cool...but before I would trust it I would like to see it tested. So far it has not been by anyone, and we only have your word. So no trust. Lidas rocks!

Admittedly-You have said complimentary things to Lidas, which is great. But then immediately you come back with something about how wonderful your untested by anyone other than you and your invisible buddy. Or you have introduced yourself by calling everyone else nerds.

So...my question: Where you from? What is your reason for coming on here and bragging about a DB that noone here has seen or mentionned trying in this thread that has about 3 pages of garble in it.

2. Research--Pretty spot on by most of the guys. Well done. We have no research for some areas on fortunately for Lidas, and I have been unable to help out as I originally wanted to due to time constraints.

Finally, how old are you?

The last two questions I ask you are straight up to see if there is some reason you are so defensive, and so ready to attack Lidas's work ,and then claim you are not.

How you answer those questions, and not anything in these three pages will determine how I think of you and your posts in the future. A snot answer will make me think you are a snot, and I will not trust anything you have to say and will call out anything I see as future BS.

A straight up, non defensive answer will make you look like a mature person. Oh yeah, that would include spelling, not text speak and at least decent punctuation.

Good Luck with your DB, maybe some day someone will try it.

"Batdad", guys I will be serious now.

I have asked Lidas at least 2 times to tell me how to upload my database, but he still haven't answered me yet :-?

If someone tell me how to upload on this site. I will upload my work :-k

You asked me how many users that have got my database. I think maybe 10-15 users have PM'ed me about trying it out.
5 of them (3 swedes) have I had contact with via MSN (they liked my work) there's still some things that not satisfies everyone but I don't think you can satisfy everybody either. I also have contact with a guy living in Owen Sound who's got season tickets to the Attacks. He will help me with a proper update of the OHL to start with at least.

The bragging is something that has esculated into something that is totally ridicolous. I haven't had any reason at all to do this from the beginning so if we can start taking each other serious, than maybe we can start all over again? :-?

I know Lidas has been here for a very, very long time supporting you with his work, but you don't have to totally like it, do you? :dunno: And I will stop relate my work with Lidas as we are two totally diffrent persons, with diffrent views on the game.

BUT I still think it's amazing that someone is still editing this game almost 4 years after the final release. I thought this game was dead and that I was the only one who still cared about it.

I am soon to be 34 years old and I don't really want to argue who's this, who's that. I did this, you did that. But as said before it has esculated and I have been very childish trying to provoke some of you guys.

I am from Sweden and my english is a bloody mess as you can see ](*,) , most of it because I skipped school when I was a teenager. Now I am a University educated psychiatric nurse. Altough we didn't read much english at the university :-D

Hopefully this can make me look like a mature person and that I will have a chance to show you my work...and the crashes earlier is fixed somehow you couldn't sign Grant Jennings or Mario Lemiux from Penguins Retro without the game crashing  But it is fixed now as I re-created them both.

M Ace-Since you are 34 frigging years old, no matter the language you speak you should be able to be a little more mature about stuff. Please start acting your age. You make grumpy old men like me look bad with your immaturity. I honestly thought that:

1. You were about 17
2. You had English as 2nd language...

At least I was right on one. But you have been coming across as an arrogant know it all. Let me tell you something, noone knows it all, noone can do it all. And one person who watches Junior hockey in one rink is not going to be able to give us an accurate DB. No way, no how. I mean I can tell you all about several WHL teams, and every BC prospect heading to the WHL with birth years from 1993,1994,1995,1996. However...because I am just one guy and everyone else has an opinion it is never gonna be right.

Now back to your DB:

If 10-15 users have your db and are using it I would love some feedback on the site, in this thread on how things in it are. But there is none. I was wondering why? Maybe they tried it and did not like it? I dunno. Anyway...as was said above by McQwak I don't see the db in your download link. Maybe it just has to be approved by a mod or admin? not sure.

I hope there are some guys using it, and I encourage them to post their thoughts here. Good work and hard work is usually appreciated by guys and their thougths are usually to help things work a little better, even if they are often biased towards 1 team in 1 league. So...lets see some feedback 10-15 guys who have the db.

I know batdad, this thing got wrong from the start. And I will change my attitude, haven't been the most mature person

The most of the users have made request at HF Boards and at FMS Forum, but I think they should be here as well. At least I have some of them added on msn so I will encourage them to post feedbacks here :wtg:
