McQwak wrote:The drawback of the new search function is that it searches only in topic titles, not bodies.
If you want to search bodies you can click on Search from the Control Panel nav menu.

The reason the new search box only searches topic titles is that searching the bodies tends to bring back too many results. We try to ensure topic titles are descriptive so I think in most cases the title search will bring up the most relevant and useful results.

I wonder if some mechanism for grading single posts can be done. For example how YouTube does it. Users can put thumb up or down.

Or maybe better way is realized on this site. Users can thank for specific post by single click. No need to post a reply with "Thank you" text... And the "Thank" section appears bellow the post (called Danke as it is german site).

BTW: What's the funcionality of "Thanks" button? It works for the whole topic, not single posts. I read "Useful Post / Thank You Button: If you find a thread particularly useful then flag it up to other users by clicking on the "Thanks" button located at the top of the thread. This also thanks the user for starting the topic. In the future I will introduce a star rating system based on the number of users who have marked a thread useful. ". But that would make a lot of more sense to rate single post(s) instead of thread. Once I mark a topic as usefull, the duscussion can then move totally wrong way and the topic is not usefull any more. In some cases the whole topic can be usefull for sure. But very often just a particular advice is usefull and users would want to thank for that single post.

I know it's probably a lot of work and maybe I'm alone in missing this functionality. Just throwing ideas :-)

I totally see your point and agree, McQwak.

Yes, I completely agree with you McQwak. I did in fact try to add the exact functionality you mention (i.e. thanking individual posts). Unfortunately I couldn't get the modification to work (it was an old mod and there was nothing newer available). I spent a lot of time trying to get it to work but it simply wouldn't. Thus I had to settle for the "topic thank you" modification instead. It's not ideal but it's the best we're going to get so long as the site runs on phpbb version 2. :dunno:

All right, thanks for explanation
(I'd use that feature now ;))

Could you post a link to an example post please?

I'm on holiday tomorrow and so I probably won't be able to respond to you again until the end of next week.

All screenshots in this thread, for example
http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... start=1400

Has it to do with my resolution?

I can see them all correctly. Using 1680*1050 and Chrome.
But when I shrink browser window a little, the sceenshots really crop and there's no way to scroll the page to the left.
You must be using very small resolution, Manimal :-o

I think that's just a lack of image scaling built into the forum. I get the same thing, and I see it a lot on other forums when full-size images are posted.

That's one thing I like about Photobucket - they give you a special tag that posts a clickable thumbnail of your image.

That's right. And phpBB 3.0 has got built in feature to link Imageshack images. Just like we have here for youtube videos.

Yeah it's your resolution. It's easy for me to fix though. I'll sort it out when I'm back from my holiday.

Yes, that's possible. I'll add it to my lengthy to do list (I've been side tracked by the CSD Patch and researching Ott and Phi for the rosters)! :-D

Just to let you know that I have now implemented two changes as previously requested during summer/autumn last year:

1) Images posted in the forums are now automatically scaled according to the size of your browser window.

2) Links to external websites now open in a new window.
