bobmcgoo wrote:Unfortunately I don't think there is any way to do this. PIMs are directly linked almost exclusively to aggression (I'm not sure what the agitation and dirtiness stats are there for but they have at most a tiny small effect on PIM numbers - in the same way the hitting attribute seems completely irrelevant to how good a player is at hitting, or how many hits he tries/gets).
For what it's worth:

Agitiation = how good the player is at agitating an opponent, causing them to lose concentration and/or give up penalties.

Dirtiness = how willing the player will use the stick dangerously or take cheap shots against opponents.

From my understanding, you're completely right - aggression is the key to raising PIM and fights.

Archi, any chance of seeing this type of attribute editor for saved games?

Yes I'm pretty certain it's possible.

However, saved games are an enigma to me at the moment. SI published the structure of the database and so it is really easy to edit the database .dat files. SI didn't publish the structure of their saved games because they're unable to disclose it (but they did say users are welcome to try and edit them and share what they find). I think it's probably very similar to the database files but I haven't had a chance to look into it yet. Mne2 must know a bit more about this as he created the awesome Saved Game Editor.

I will take a look at this some time - but I'm pretty swamped with other things at the moment (both with my job and with things I'm working on for EHM).

Did 2 sims with this, with the 4.1 rosters and it seems that the defenseman are scoring way too many points (at least in my sims) I have no idea on what I need to do to turn the defenseman scoring down. Any hlep would be appreciated.

Can you post/send me some screenshots? I've never had this problem...

Haha that's very interesting, never seen anything like that, definitely too high. Could you screenshot either the Excel file you used to edit the database, or the player details and player attributes page for any defenseman using the pre-game editor? Tyler Myers is the obvious choice. Thanks =)

@Smetana: sorry but I've just checked, reintroducing fighting is simply unworkable. Even when I made all the refs as lenient as possible and increased aggression only slightly, powerplays still went too high again, and even then there still wasn't enough fights. I'm afraid it really is a straight choice between the two, sorry =(

Have no idea how to do any of that lol

For the Excel file, double click to open it (I'm assuming you have Excel) and then press the print screen button on your keyboard (I hope it has one, if not use CTRL + P). Or for the pre-game editor, load the database you used to start the game with, find any NHL defenseman who's scored too highly and print screen his "player attributes" tab and his "player details" tab. When you have a printscreen, paste the picture into MS Paint or something similar, save the file and upload it to Photobucket.

If you open the csv file (the file that accompanies the Scoring Realism Patch exe) using Notepad, you can copy and paste all of the text into the forums. If you paste it between some

tags then we'll be able to check that there weren't any anomalies.

No sorry, I can't see anything different to what you have from what I've got. I can't even think of a reason why that could happen. The only thing I could suggest is that all your average ratings are very low, I've never seen players like Ovechkin, Nash, Getzlaf play that badly. OV and Getzlaf are always around 9.00avr for me. I can't see how any of those players have scored as many points as they have without having a very high average rating... in a random game I just loaded using Manimal4edited Getzlaf had 86p from 79 games and his average rating is 9.04. Also you have Kopitar on a 7.04 average rating, that's unheard of. My dmen have much higher avrs than yours but they're all scoring less than a ppg. Very strange.

Has anyone else had any dmen scoring problems like this?

No problem in my tests with dmen scoring.
Also, you should drop the "NHL" from your patch's title :)

We've dropped it from the thread title already (now that we know that leagues outside of the NHL benefit from bobmcgoo's patch). :)

Perhaps we can drop it from the file's title when the next version is released.

Just to say that I've been working on the Attribute Editor this week. I'm rewriting it from scratch because it will make it easier to add additional attributes. I'm also making the config/settings file a little easier to read. Hopefully I'll have it ready for next week.

Patch has been amazing so far. Wish there was a way to tone down your own team however.

Everyone in the league is more on par now, except my team because apparently there's a hidden boost that's applied, so my players are higher in statistics.

I remember reading somewhere that it has to do with actually watching the game vs just simulating, so it's probably something hard coded into the game.

Thanks for the praise. I have seen a slight boost to my players' stats but nothing really noticeable unless you're looking for it...? But yes it's definitely hard-coded, nothing i nor anyone not from SI could do about that.

With regards to the heavy guy vs. light guy issue, equalising the weights does work. So the patch would effectively make who hits a lot random every year, meaning you don't have to be 100kg+ to play really well. However, to play well in EHM you still have to hit a lot, as well as score points, so this also kinda randomises the best players every year, which I think is kind of realistic. Not ideal, but better than the default setup. I would use this patch, but i'd like to know what others think.

I was wondering what would happen if players' physical stats were reduced/boosted relative to weight. I.e. we increase the physical stats of the lighter players and decrease those of the heavier players. :-k

My player boosts are astronomical. Had 4 players on my team in top 10 in NHL points. There's a pretty big boost, but I'll attribute that to my coaching abilities. =D>

The Capitals first line was in top 10 as well.
