Just a quick question: if you set player's status "retire" in the editor, will there be regen in-game, if you don't touch extra_config file?

No, you need to retire them by using extra_config if you want them to re-spawn.

Has anyone missed a good regen in the draft before, the AI missed them too, so they wen't undrafted, and were only found out about later?

Once. I forget who it was, but they showed up again in the next draft and I spotted them (recognized the name). Took them with the 5th rounder, when I saw the attributes I was pleasantly surprised, slotted in my 2nd line when he was done developing. Never identified him though.

Have there been any that you or anyone has missed but the AI drafted?
What is the best way to make sure you don't miss drafting a good regen, because some are not ranked?

Take your top 5 scouts and put all 5 on intensive for the NHL Draft. Have 2 do the top rounds (ignore well known - yes) and 3 with ignore well known off. Use their star rankings. I've found some insane talents in late rounds.

When the 1st good regens appear in the 08' draft, they can be difficult to spot right, because there are not many of them, like for instance I've read that the Hasek regen goes unranked and unnoticed in the 08' draft, so how do you find them, by doing what you said?

Hasek won't pop up until about 2010...
If you're in the NHL that is.
Otherwise, this usually works for me.
I've found a Nolan regen in the 6th round before. I was quite happy.
Selanne in the 4th, Cujo in the 6th... drafting is too easy.

Not true, he 1st pops up in the rankings in 09', he's one of 2 Czech goalies (the other being the Cechmanek regen I believe) who are ranked in the top 30, I have seen them both get drafted in 09'.
I'm pretty sure I've read about Hasek regen being available in the 08' draft though, if it wasn't him it was someone else, or maybe I am wrong, but I thought I did, and if I did how is it possible when Euro regens aren't supposed to be available for 2 drafts?

I think you're mistaken with the 2008 draft. He usually pops up around 2009-2010 area. The 2008 draft is all real players who were 16-17 in the game when it started.

Yeah, I wen't through the Hasek regen thread and it looks like you can't get him until 09', I think what I read was that someone spotted him in 07'-08', not that you could draft him then, but aren't there some good regens in 08', isn't that when they start showing up?

Yes, that's when the majority of the great HOF regens come around.

But they aren't draftable until 09'?

It depends. It depends on when they age. Many of the Euros regen 2 years faster than NA players. NA players spawn at 14 yrs, the Euros spawn at age 16.

I once picked Lindros regen, who topped with 130 points, and Jagr regen was picked at second round overall #34 as I was drafting #35. I knew though it was Jagr's regen, should've picked him up, cos he put 158 points as a record so far.

Okay regen experts, who do I have here? I don't know of any Hungarian goalkeepers... but he looks pretty solid.

I don't know what regen it could possibly be, that's a good/tough one, I wonder if there is a chance he's not a regen, I really doubt it though.
Why haven't you signed him yet, he's clearly too good for the WHL.
What DB are you using?

What does do the top rounds mean, the ISS rankings?

He's a regen, no doubts there.
I always leave my players in the minors, and I use that extra year that I don't have to sign them for their development/saves an extra yr on their ELC.
Also, he'd be backing up Quick, and would fall behind the Hasek Regen and the Cujo Regen I drafted (Got pretty lucky).
Also, I can't pin this dude.
Also, when I said top rounds, I more or less meant that you should force your scouts to ignore the well known players.
Now that I look at that post...
I should have said:
Have 2 do the top rounds
(ignore well known - no) and 3 with ignore well known on for the bottom rounds. Just takes in different amounts of talent.
I find that the scouts that DO ignore the well known have better reports on the lower ranked or non ranked prospects.
Make sense?

it is possible

this spaniard is my top PK man and a defense specialist plus he is cheap, it's year 2031 now
260 games played 94 pts. 758 hits and 7.67 avr

I think this might be Arturs Irbe's now that I've thought about it.
