That draft was freaking HORRIBLE. I am not sure one guy will ever play for me (drafted 30th of course)

Is that the 2017 draft you're talking about? If so... yeah it was just terrible.

Yeah, that draft was miserable, i got one guy that i think will make my team in the future, then there is maybe one or two more that has a slim shot.
2018 looks better atleast, i think i have some good prospects from that draft.

Ugh. I a dumb. (yes save that guys). I mixed up my seasons. I have to go back to prior to 2017 draft and after my season ended for 2017 and redo what I was thinking. Dillon, Morin and Kassian are all 26 and I traded them all out. Cannot do that. Was thinking it was 2018-19 season starting. Ugh. Not a big deal since only at about July 6. I will repost my trade screen when get back to July 1. Sorry B72.

Good thing you caught it early enough so you still have a save to go back to

I'm surprised to see Miller retire. Do you happen to know if he got some sort of major injury? I noticed Henrik Sedin seemed to drop off a lot in the 16-17 season in my game too.

Yeah...but I always save after I win the cup, in case of things like that. So I had to go all the way back to June 3 when I won this year. Just back to July 1.
Deals and draft were a bit different, obviously.
Anyway
Deals
Cory Conacher and Luca Sbisa off to Columbus Blue Jackets for Eriksson Ek. I tried deals for a C with about 6 other teams, becasue I am not ready to trust Rakell as a 2nd liner. This, like the last time for Dillon was the only one I could pull off.
Shawn Matthias goes to Montreal for Zack Fucale. He sucks, so does he. Even up, as needed a 4th goalie since Eriksson is headed to UFA.
This is the deal I absolutely love....my board absolutely hated it.
Yannick Weber goes to New York Rangers....for Henrik Neubauer. All that guy did was get drafted by the Rangers in 2016 3rd round, come over from Orebro in Sweden and lead the AHL (ahead of Klimchuk) with 53 goals. yeah. think I like this 20 year old kid. But the board was made we lost Weber. Heh.
So I am keeping Stanton and Dillon for now, as well as Tanev. One of them may go when I see how Pedan does in the minors, as he jumped to a 6.98 rating last season, and developed a fair bit. Also Rasmus Andersson.
And I Got a few different prospects who will never make my team.
1. 30th-Some bad Whl player LW/LD you know he is bad when he cannot decide Forward or Dman.
2. 60th -Some bad OHL player whose name sounds like a woman's name on a bad TV show about country music. OH wait, it is her name, just with an I instead of a Y.
3 90th-Some bad Czech player with a question mark as the third character in his first name. Supposedly plays RW
4. 120th-a bad WHL defenseman. 6'5 155? Is this guy 14???
5. Some overage American who has a brain for real life as he is in college, where he will probably stay forever.
6. Some Russian dman that Gradin likes. I think when he likes a Swede you are supposed to take him. But this guy has a shot only Chris Tanev can love. Think they are using rubber sticks on his team.
7. Some Swedish midget who cannot play hockey, but apparently likes the meatballs at Ikea since he weighs 209 lbs at 5'7. I took him, but Gradin did not like him AT ALL. So yeah, not good listening.

The original Ex Canucks who were blown out
Frank Corrado-playing poorly in Europe for Slovan was never signed in Dallas.
Daniel Sedin-two 28 goal seasons in Winterpeg. Low 7 ratings. Slowing down now
Henrik Sedin-two under 40 point, under 7 rating seasons in Winnipeg. Never been on line with Daniel.
Janek Hansen-Two 20 goal seasons in Columbus, 7 ratings. Scored in all 4 games he has played against me.

Chris Higgins-never played in Columbus, Immediately dealt to Ottawa for 2 bums and 2 bad picks. Played two years for the Sens, has scored 28 goals for them, and is averaging around 6.9. CUrrently he is UFA
Ryan Miller- two poor seasons in CBJ and is now UFA. Bob;s 6 million dollar back up for two years. LOL
Alex Burrows-two weak seasons with the Ducks. 8 goals 7 goals. Now UFA
Radim Vrbata-2o goals for Ducks in 1st season, this last year played for Ambri Piotta as no NHL team signed him 13 points in 13 games there.
Kevin Bieksa-not bad a 42 point season and a 31 point season for the ISlanders. Now UFA ,but unlike the other guys who became UFA he has offers from several teams.
Dan Hamhuis-One 35 point season on Long Island, then left as UFA for Montreal. 31 points there.
Alex Edler two fourty point , 7.4 rating seasons with the Sharks. Keeps on ticking, but the team is terrible.

I looked back to see what I'd reported after season 1. Miller went 9-10-2 in 25 games with a 3.00 GAA and .897 sv% as a $6M backup to Carey Price. He was a free agent after that and I guess saw the writing on the wall after that record.
Looking back at the original trades and even 20+ games into season 3, most are still question marks. I tried to get a prospect & picks with each trade and some prospects (Liam O'Brien) haven't played 50 games in 3 seasons.
Dealing Vrbata to St. Louis, who then waived him and sent him to the AHL, for 2 1st rounders is my definitive win. I took a goalie who will likely be my controversy for season (he's listed as my #2 on the depth charts at the age of 20), Matej Tomek and Jeremy Bracco, a center who mans the 2nd line most nights and the 1st when Kuznetsov has an off game. Bracco has 75 points in 98 games with a "career" 6.86 avg. 6.86 is "okay," but he's 20...

So I've noticed a lot of the players that I tried trading for at the beginning of the game are now getting waived or put on the block going into season 3. I'm seeing guys like Bournival, Liam O'Brien, and Tom Wilson all available for free now that I can't use them.
So during the preseason I continued to try to dump Clendenning. I really just wanted to ship him out for a younger defenseman that I could send to the minors. I ended up sending him to the Avs for Anton Lindholm. He's a 22 year old stay at home defenseman. He's a bottom pairing guy but he'll get some playing time in Utica. If I need him, I can call him up.
While looking for a trade for Clendenning, I saw that the Flames had signed their 2015 1st round pick, Werenski, after a couple years of playing in college. They only had him valued at 3 stars. They wouldn't take Clendenning for him but when I offered Tanev, they accepted. I had to pull the trigger. I'm going to start the season with Werenski in Utica but we'll see what happens. I'm loving his physical and mental attributes. I'm betting that if given the chance, he could do well in the NHL despite his technical attributes not having developed yet. For now I'm going to give Wikstrand a chance though.

Nice trade for Werenski. He looks very good in my game. Tanev is steaky and inconsistant and u only miss him first two years then werensky gets better then tanev was..
Tanev in my game is producing 30-35p at top pair while my star defender gets 60-70p a seson. Something is wrong with tanev couse he produce less points then my 2nd pair defencemens.

There is nothing wrong, Tanev is a defensive D-man, he shouldn't produce tons of points.

Tanev shouldn't be a great loss for me. I couldn't really get him to perform for me in those first two seasons. He had great technical attributes but his play didn't seem to equal that.

Miller retired 2017 off season in my game. I am thinking about doing the exact same thing with Clendenning...well moving him for younger guy anyway, so I do not have to waive.
We shall see. I have a few irons in the fire with my under 27 guys.

Werenski is still in college in my season 3 and hasn't signed with his team yet. He was drafted by Florida, but part of a trade with New Jersey for Mike Cammalleri.
The end of season 2 was bad for me and most of my "overage" guys had next-to-no value on the market. I traded away the few I could get something for, so for season 3, I have 9 guys I could potentially ship out.

Stuck at the end of the first seasons draft, not sure who to pick. I have 4 picks in mind, any insight or help would be appreciated.
Auston Matthews, Drawn comparisons to Ryan Getzlaf. Has some good mental and physical stats, and mediocre technical stats. So far this is who I am leaning towards.
Jacob Chychrun, Compared to Ryan Wilson. Physical and Mental attributes are good, has 13 hitting.
Jesse Puljujarvi, compared to Jimmy Hayes. Decent mental and physical attributes. Okay technical skills. What draws me to him is his 6'4 in size.
Sean Kovacs, Comapred to Niklas Kronwall, but projected to be a depth defenseman. Mental and technical attributes are good, but his physical leave something to be desired.
So of the 4, who would you guys reccomend?

I have Puljujärvi and he's amazing, Matthews and Chychrun looks good aswell... I would go for need, do you need a winger, center or a defenseman?

I need EVERYTHING lol . I have Eriksson rk and Bracco in development for centres. Have Virtanen and Shinkaruk and Horvat (I think I plan on playing him at wing) for wingers in the system. I have Lindgren and Kylington and Provorov in the defense system.
I really have no idea where this team is headed. Loving the challenge.
Edit: I have the #2 overall pick

I've got Chychrun. I'm just starting season 3 (like 9 games in) and he's still in junior. His technical attributes still aren't where they need to be. Physically and mentally, he's great.

I have Chychrun as well. I'm 35 games into season 3 and he's listed on my depth charts as my #2 D after Tanev --ahead of Lindgren. For a stay-at-home D, he has 5G 14A in 35 games in the NHL, -7 and a 6.89 avg. He's the best of my back-end D and almost on the same pace as my worst offensive D-man.
Looking over the other 4, they're all ahead of Chychrun on the technical side of things, although Chychrun has more points right now. Matthews & Puljujarvi have more games played and Kovacs is still with Kitchener. Drafted by the Penguins, so they don't need him yet?

First quarter of the second season done and it brutal, no brutal doesn't describe it. My team isn't scoring at all and my defense is horrible, just as my goaltending. Note that I'm playing with cautious tactics but I got the inverted stats compared to Batdad.
My trading is bad, I can't pull of any of the trades you guys are posting.
This challenge is lost for me, already, since I can't get any success at all in EHM: EA. I don't even know what I'm doing wrong.
