I really don't know (it's not been a problem before)...I've removed Pierre Lacroix's French 2nd nationality for version 1.1

Observation: there's two of Dave Amadio in Seattle.

I don't have much else of use to contribute right now, though I did have the thought whilst at work today of doing more Europeans myself, but eh. As for help with the player histories, if you let me know how things need to be done, sure, I can tackle something there!

I really do understand! I really do...I've now got a spreadsheet started myself!...we'll see how it goes

Awesome! Most excellent!
The EHM Updater is the way to tackle things (http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 8&start=25) - you can export a spreadsheet (staff career history) with the click of a key and you're good to go!

Along with Name/DOB and Team/League it allows the following to be entered - Games Played, Goals, Assists, Penalty Minutes and Plus/Minus and for goaltenders Minutes Played, Goals Against, Shutouts, Wins, Losses, Ties/OT Losses and Saves...for both regular season and playoffs! all in a simple spreadsheet format!

The spreadsheet is pretty straightforward and IIRC it allows you to copy/paste stats from the hockeydb site hockey quite easily (the history I added was done before the current version of the Updater so i haven't used this version; the Updater is the way the community has been updating the player history/stats for the upcoming Manimal 5.0 database http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... =45&t=9702)

So it'd be just a matter of selecting a team of players, compiling the data, and then sending it to me for importing into the database!
Repeat as many times as you're willing!...

Another thing I noticed.... may be deliberate, not sure. Gordie Howe's reputation is listed in my game as "Unproven". In my file, he gets sent to the AHL.

Wow...that's bizarre
I've read the occasional post that indicated EHM may have a hard time with players around age 40 (i.e. they retire/don't play well)...Howe is 46 when the game starts, but his CA and Home/Current Reputation is 179...so I'm not sure why he'd show as Unproven/get sent to the AHL (unless EHM treats him that way because he's 46...IRL he played another 6 years!!! In 1979-80 at 51 years of age he scored 15 goals and 41 points while playing all 80 NHL games!!!)

Howe is still playing for the Houston Aeros in my game and he's second on the team in points. His reputation is listed as "Good" in my game. I wonder if he may have had an injury or something in that other game that caused a drop?

After a season I'm not seeing too much weirdness.

Mr. Hockey had 34G and 72P for Houston in my file. He is, however, listed at "Unproven" as well. No injuries, no suspensions, in fact no news whatsoever on him in his profile. He just plodded along and ho-hum, another 30 goal season...

Bucyk, at 40, is still listed as "Very Good" in my file and had a 72P season of his own for BOS.

Henri Richard was apparently playing well enough New England traded a pick for him and is listed as "Good" at 39, but his numbers were awful. Between MTL and NE he only put up 16 points.

Red Bereneson is Vopatizing like crazy in my game though at only 35. He went from 2nd line winger to Healthy Scratch relatively quickly, and is also still listed as "Very Good" despite his worthlessness.

By the way... I noticed Link Gaetz is in the file still (and not as a youngster). So is Casey Pierre-Zabotel.

Gordie Howe has a good rating in my game. Also 3rd in scoring on Houston. Bobby Orr is doing pretty good so far. Around a ppg and winning player of the week honors a couple of times. I have 6 great teams in the East and 3 in the west tho the western 3 are a notch below the eastern 6. So far so good on the no problems and having fun o'meter as well. :)

Mike Vellucci, a non-player staff, is from the modern database. He's 40 years old in the 1974 DB but he's 46 in real life, born in 1966. He did play some minor league hockey and 2 games for the Hartford Whalers in the late 80's. He coached the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL for a stretch in the 2Ks and was also GM.

What about John Fritsche? Same case as Vellucci. I just came across him. And maybe Brian Wolf. I remember that name from the Manimal DB and he's in the game as a 40-something year old coach.

I was looking at the small capacity of the Stampede Corral, and I had a thought... would it be possible to add future stadium expansions for various teams - like for the Cowboys, add the expansion to the size of the Saddledome (though I understand changing the name isn't possible), and for Detroit, that of Joe Louis Arena... sure it'd be a long wait for some of them, but it struck me that at the very least Calgary would need it... with an arena that small, it'd be pretty hard to have a decent income!

I'll be trying to edit in some arena expansion and/or arena moves via the Extra Config File...I've looked into it a bit, and I've seen posts indicating some Extra Config File things might not actually work (weirdness/difficulties when editing) - but I'd like to try...

The Extra Config File has templates for such moves...

# "ARENA_MOVE" "Team name" "Current arena name" "Next arena name" date new_av_attendance new_min_attendance new_max_attendance owned // 1 for yes, 0 for no - club owns new arena?

# "ARENA_EXPANSION" "Team name" "Current arena name" date new_seats new_stands cost
# to convert stands to seats, use a negative number for new_stands and a positive one for new_seats

And there's a few other Extra Config File File templates I'd like to try...

# Boost team:
# "BOOST_TEAM" "teamname" cash_injection reputation_increase // max cash-injection is , and max reputation_increase is 9999

# Manager confidence
# "MANAGER_CONF" "first name "second name" "current team name" value (0 - 10000)

# New affiliations:
# "NEW_AFFILIATION" "London Racers" "Dundee Stars" 9 11 2003 type_value
# type values
# AFFILIATION_PRIMARY_FARM 0
# AFFILIATION_SECONDARY_FARM 1
# AFFILIATION_OTHER_FARM 2
# AFFILIATION_PRIMARY_JUNIOR 3
# AFFILIATION_SECONDARY_JUNIOR 4
# AFFILIATION_OTHER_JUNIOR 5

From what I've read there's some "hit and miss" when it comes to what works in the Extra Config file...but IMO it'd be worth trying to do these things for sure!
If anyone has had any experience with any of the Extra Config File "commands" noted above please post what you know...thanks!

Regards :-)

P.S. There are two "future injuries" in the 1974 db Extra Config File, but thus far I've not heard of them "working" (maybe I don't have them set right?)
"INJURY" "Bobby" "Orr" "Boston Bruins" "FUTURE_PERMANENT_PARTIALLY_TORN_MCL" 5
"INJURY" "Bernie" "Parent" "Philadelphia Flyers" "FUTURE_PERMANENT_DAMAGED_EYE" 7

It seems Bob Bourne is still “WAY to good” – in my current "CA and Height/Weight test game" I've just finished the 2015-16 regular season and Bourne had 53 goals, 143 points! And a 9.61 AvR.....and this is his 5th such year in a row!

2011-12 118 points, 9.67 AvR
2012-13 113 Points, 9.78 AvR
2013-14 120 Points, 9.59 AvR
2014-15 122 Points, 9.65 AvR

Maybe I should first just swap him and Bossy! and then edit from there...

From the EHM Updater ReadMe regarding the how the Year is to be entered (and how you can't enter "0" Games Played)

Year and Games Played
o The Year column relates to the season start year. For example, the 2011/12 regular season and playoffs should be listed as 2011.
o You must enter a number greater than zero for the Games Played column.

So for the 1974 db
2005 = 1973-74
2004 = 1972-73
2003 = 1971-72
etc

There's a couple Yes/No columns for indicating Playoffs and On Loan (you likely won't need to use "On Loan")

Playoffs and On Loan
o If the player was on loan at the team or the entry relates to the playoffs, enter Y into the relevant column. Otherwise you can leave the column blank.

And regarding Teams/Competition names...

Teams and Competitions
o If you want the team or competition to appear as Unknown in game, enter _none into the relevant column(s) – or you can just the column(s) blank.
o Note that the CHL Memorial Cup should be listed as Canadian Hockey League Memorial Cup and the Playoffs column should be listed as Y. For the OHL, QMJHL and WHL playoffs, you should list the league name of the relevant league and enter Y into the Playoffs column.
o You cannot add national team / competition history because it is not compatible with the Pre-Game Editor and it doesn’t appear correctly in game.

I know already that there are team names I need to add to the 1974 database!
Some defunct (in 1974) WHA, Minor Pro and Major Junior teams are not yet in the database...
If you notice you can let me know and I'll add them, or when the time comes to actual input the data I'll do a "beta version" first on a copy of the db and I'll get the error file, and I'll compile the list of missing teams from the error file and add the team(s)...and then actually run the real history/stats update on the database

Regards :-)

nino33 wrote:I'm doing some more testing now on Height/Weight development (and CA too)...such testing takes many days to complete

From September 10th…
Height/Weight development is a real challenge as the amount grown/gained is random!
- All players age 18 and under can/do grow quite a bit at start-up
- Many players age 19-21 grow a bit at start-up
- It seems maybe players under age 10, and players about age 11-15, and players age 16-18, and players age 19-21 all grow at different rates

My height/weights for players age 1-5 at start-up were to high, and they apparently grow a bit to big as adults - I'm working on fixing this.
So far I've found for players age 18-21 a high 90s percentage of adult height/weight seems to work best...
Currently after 4 tests I got a starting point that seems to work for players under 10 (75% of height and 70% of weight), but it doesn't seem to work for older players
My 4th test is currently in year 5 and still running...

It'll take awhile to get the needed results and make refinements and test again, but I'm working on it!
It hasn’t worked out at all!!!

My teenage Gretzky at 24 was 4’10” and players that started in 2006 in diapers were 3’8”-3’10” when they became teenagers! HaHa
I’ve gone from basketball player sized to horse jockey size! I’ve gotta find the right percentage for hockey player size!

So I guess maybe I’ll go “90% of adult height/weight for those under 18” and see what happens?

P.S. I suspect because of the lack of size, at 24 Gretzky was playing for Bern in Switzerland! He'd been in the NHL earlier for 2 years, putting up 28 points in 85 games! Bryan Trottier on the other hand, in 2016-2017 (i.e. 1984-85), had 72 goals and 163 points playing for the Ottawa Senators!

My head is throbbing and aching…sometimes EHM editing can be such a pain!

Over the last two years multiple times I’ve tried to deal with/figure out height/weight for really young players…again my attempts have been a complete failure!!! I have no idea of what percentage of adult height/weight to use…the amount “gained” by players in EHM is so random (and such a wide range), it’s beyond me to know what to do…I’m so sick of dealing with it!

I just want players who are around 6 feet and around 200 pounds!
For now (and maybe permanently) these ultra-young players (currently all players 16 and under) will have “0” for their Height and “0” for their Weight…maybe that’ll work

I just don't feel like dealing with this...even simple testing is so labour intensive

I've got a few WHL/OHL Guides, so I have the "teenage" height/weight for some and maybe at some point I'll enter what data I do have (this is "maybe the best that can be done" IMO - use the player's height/weight at Major Junior...it's just alas often not available)

EDIT
nino33 wrote:Currently after 4 tests I got a starting point that seems to work for players under 10 (75% of height and 70% of weight)
nino33 wrote:...again my attempts have been a complete failure!!!
While I did set Height/Weight to “0” for players age 1-16, I’m not happy with doing so, and I’m gonna keep trying to find a percentage that “works” (NOTHING will be perfect) – currently testing players who are age 1-2 at start-up with 80% of adult height and 70% of adult weight …we’ll see!
