Had to get in on that Boogaard action too, huh?
He's played two games for the big club this season for me. After the first game he was suspended for seven, then he came back for another game and earned a ten game suspension.
I love him.

yeah, and my team needed someone who could take the fights. Too bad he has just played 10 minutes in average per game so far.

In an effort to improve my lackluster--actually pathetic power play.
my Sabres dispatched a few players including Mike Van Ryn, and Mark Parrish..as well as that Ortmeyer guy there was no way I was going to get through recall waivers once I had traded Pisani for him.
I included some picks in my moves, and I have received Nils Ekman, Nik Hagman, and to put a stop to the "mans" I have picked up Kim Johnsson, and my best one Steve Sullivan. In 1 period Sully had a goal and 2 assists (all pp), then he had the audacity to get injured for a week. Oh well, imagine how naff my 10% pp would have been without the Sully period.

I'm Buffalo, by the way. Not that I have a single real Sabre on my roster...

41-60 moves:
Acquired Cairns from PIT for 7th
Traded Semenov to DAL for 7th
Accquired rights to Gionta from TOR for rights to Grigorenko, Benoit and a third
For some reason Gionta wasn't signed by Toronto even though their number one need was listed as first line right winger and they had 5 million cap space
Also he was listed as 5-star worth and no offer was worth making, until I placed an offer sheet when he instantly became 3-star worth and they would discuss a trade

Got to get him signed now, I have the cap space but right wing is my area of strength so I want him cheap.
One point from 1st place with a game in hand so still going well, I've had a few short term injuries from games 21-60 but am injury free now. Hamilton still sit top with a .900 record so things look bright heading towards the playoffs. Trade deadline is this week so I may make some moves, but would be happy with this squad if no-one looks good enough

Games 41-60 for Montreal. Some changes to team, underachievers Warrener, Pandolfo and Ortmeyer traded away.
Warrener and Ortmeyer were shipped to Tampa for Corey Sarich.
Pandolfo traded to Boston for Jussi Markkanen.

Satan is on fire, first place in points for whole NHL 42+37=79 points in 60 games..
Koivu is not far behind and Havlat who underachieved start of season have reached point/game pace.
Powerplay has also improved, about 16% for games 21-40. Looking for a good playoffs run

My record improved in my second set of 20 games but I'm not scoring as much and my special teams aren't doing as good. Ovechkin has really slowed down. He was on a serious tear for the first set of 20 games. He's still playing well but not like he was. I've also lost him for a total of about 12 days so far this season. Fortunately, it only ended up being a few games. Kariya and Martinek have both missed 5 games too.

You wanted an extra challenge so you handicapped your team?
I kid.

61-82 moves:
Signed 9 UFAs from AHL/ECHL, 7 to Hamilton 2 stuck with the big club (Venedam and Gaucher)
Made a number of trades on deadline day for young stars, possibly not the most sensible move in a challenge game but the only way I play.
Traded rights to Gionta and a third to DAL for Bobby Ryan and a fourth
Traded Crawford, Miskovic, Stafford and a second to ANA for Schremp and C. Price
Traded Kloucek and Stone to EDM for L. Smid
Traded Kozlov, Dingman, Flood and a third to LA for B.Little and Verot
Making a total of 8 players, a second and two thirds for Bobby Ryan, Rob Schemp, Carey Price, Ladislav Smid, Bryan Little and Darcy Verot. The UFA signings were to replace those players out, and the future looks stacked
Had a fantastic last quarter of the season, finishing comfortably first in the NHL, Hamilton finished with over 140 points, both teams comfortably through the first round of the playoffs.
I currently sit at 2 games each in the second round with the Rangers, pretty tight series, I picked up a couple of injuries, Madden and Zetterberg, so I'm going to risk a slightly injured Zetterberg in Game 5

I'm going to post the stats later today; I haven't had time yet and Calv is still being yanked around by various internet providers trying to get his new residence set up for the net. Sorry about the delay

So can someone explain to me how a team can be 54-15-5 after 74 games, and clinched the Presidents Trophy at game 69, when the power play is clicking at a great rate of 11.4% and the penalty killing is so strong it gets scored on over 15% of the time. sheesh. Oh and my leading goal scorer has 35 goals. Me thinks my team is a defensive power house, yet is only 3rd in goals against. I went on a streak from game 61 to game 72 without a loss, and only one overtime win. Then I lost 7-0 to Washington? huh? Beat the Leafs 6-1 (0 for 16 on the pp) and then lost to them 5-3 (0 for 12) Sheesh, what a team. Oh yeah, and after 19 goals in his first 25 games, Jonathon Cheecho now has a total of 25 goals. What a star. Needless to say has missed a few games lately.
I tell ya, the AI sucks at fantasy drafts. Of course I picked noone under the age of 20. But I have 20-22 year olds coming out of my ears on the farm. Except a goalie from Everett...Leiland Irving.
Modin-Morrison-Cheechoo
Ekman-Forsberg-Sullivan
Fedotenko-Drury-Kapanen
Boogieman-Betts-Hagman
Grabovsky Laich
Ohlund-Regehr
Kim Johnsson-Seidenberg
C White-Kwiatkowski
Kloucek
Kipper
B Johnson (Sabourin)

Okay I've recorded all the 1-20 sets; those of you who didn't begin your posts with you 'contract' about following the rules will have to do so with your next set before you will be eligable for Bonus Points.

Hurrah, won the cup after an incredible final series, went 3 down pulled it back to 3-each, in game 7 went 3-0 up, then 3-4 behind then won it in overtime

Off-season roster moves:
Released Verot and Olvecky, Hasek retired.
Trades:
Traded Girardi, Giroux and Richmond to TB for rights to Vasicek
Traded Kasparitis to CAR for a third
Acquired six first round picks over 6 trades (NJD, CGY, LA, STL 09, 10 and 11) for six players from my 2007 draft picks + a fourth and a sixth.
Acquired CAR 09 third round pick for a player picked in 07 draft.
Traded rights to Vasicek and a third to COL for 09 1st round pick.
Traded Vernace to NYI for a fourth.
Picked up R.Salei from waivers.
And a number of minor trades/waivers in and out for Hamilton (Calder winners in AHL)
Hasek annoyed me, he signed a two-year contract, then announced he would retire at the end of the season, then retired the next day. I had let Toivenen go to Sweden and it cost me double the wages he wanted as a free agent to get him back in time for the season.
Brodeur was waived by Boston

and picked up by Chicago who now have a Brodeur/Khabibulin goalie tandem
Starting lines for the 2007/08 season:
Ovechkin-Forsberg-Jagr
Zetterberg-Allison-Alfredsson
Holmstrom-Madden-Lehtinen
Moreau-Schremp-Michalek
Bouwmeester-Brewer
Niinimaa-Martinek
Salei-Cairns
Toivenen
Caron
I think one reason for the success is stability, with only 4 changes to any position since before game 20 in season 06/07. Top 3 forward lines and top 2 defence lines are completely unchanged in personnel and tactics over more than 100 games. Schremp should stick with the big club for the season on line 4 with 2nd PP time, Cairns is in as my only fighter so will stay for the season and Salei looks to have solidified my third line D. My only concern is Toivenen for the season but this squad should be assured of good seeding in the playoffs. I may look to get a proven goalie at the deadline for the experience in playoffs but thats a long way off.

When is the final date for the 1-20 stats?
I haven't seen it anywhere around the forums...
Must just be me or something...

No roster moves during games 1-20 of season 2, but more injuries than the previous season and some dressing room unhappiness. Jagr and Schremp complaining the team is underacheiving when placed 4th with the best winning percentage in the conference? I was the last team to reach 20 games played so would be top, but am still second.
Most suprising game was against Vancouver, who were top of the Western at the time:
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p196 ... /Shots.jpg Just look at the shot count
Only roster move of any kind was getting T.Rask and I.Zubov to agree to join at the end of the European season after their rights had been released by their NHL club.

Since it's our first Challenge I've wanted to wait and see how people are progressing before setting a date but most likely it won't be for several weeks yet. When the date is fixed it will appear in the new info header.

Season 2 games 21-40 moves:
With Toivonen being my weak link consistently, I traded Carey Price, Hodge from Hamilton and a fourth for an injured Niitymaki. He will be back for the playoffs and strengthen my weak link considerably.
I also acquired Dingman on re-entry waivers and traded a disappointing Salei for a 5th.
A lot of my better players (Ovechkin, Bouwmeester, Brewer, Niitymaki et al) will be in line for considerable raises next season so I may struggle to get them all signed.
Gone clear top though so this season looks good, despite worse injuries than usual

I won the Cup for the first time ever in EHM, probably because I always use the Habs and I develop sentimental attachments to players and won't deal them.
Offseason moves to follow.

OK, I figure I'll give this a try as a newbie. I've read everything over a couple times (god it makes my eyes bleed all those rules) But I think I have it all. Only have 1 question that I couldn't really find an answer to. I notice alot of people post the list of transactions for each 20 game block. I didn't see if that was required, or just good ettiquette, and how much of the transactions are needed?
Anyhow, here is my Sabres team.
