I had great game (something for Gibson41 :-D):
Image
Doan 3+2, Toews 0+5, Selanne 3+1
Backstrom 17/20 :thdn:

But my attendance is poor :-?

I finally finished up my first set of 20. I ended up sending Gagner back to Junior and also sent Latendresse and Ryan down to the AHL. Gagner got player of the week right away with something like 7 points in 2 games. My AHL guys have no chance at getting Player of the Week or anything like that because Calgary sent Langkow (and his $4.5M salary) down to the AHL. Oh and of course this happens when I can't make trades... the Flyers traded Van Riemsdyk straight up for Adam Foote! I remember trying to get Van Riemsdyk in my Predators game and they wouldn't bite.

I ended up changing my tactics a couple times because I just didn't like what I was seeing. The last change in tactics had more to do with the changes in roster than anything else though. I brought up Brouwer and Battaglia to replace Latendresse and Ryan and now Andy Hilbert is playing after being a healthy scratch for a while.

My first 20 games went better than I expected, but I struggled in games 21-40 going 9-8-1. My tactics are pretty much identical to what they were in the first 20 games so I'm not sure what the problem is. The offense is doing great with Selanne leading the league in goals and points but my defense has all of a sudden started playing awful. Backstrom and Mason have been very inconsistent lately.

Grits, it could just be that other teams are figuring you out. They've figured out how to counter-act your tactics. Also, if you're over-playing some of your older players they could be getting tired out.

It's some kind of presentation bug in the game. You'll still have him listed as a physio.

Anybody else think that their team is a cup contender? :-D
We're 1st in our conference by a lot and I think we have a legit shot with they way Selanne, Toews and Doan are playing on the 1st line.
Through 73 games:
Doan (105) - Toews (90) - Selanne (121)
Tkachuk (92) - Steen (72) - Ruutu (72)
Battaglia (17) - Pahlson (25) - Mair (21) (set to extremely defensive, Mair has 12 goals!)
Hilbert (9) - Talbot (8) - Bayda (6)

Pitkanen (47) - Numminen (38)
Keith (21) - Wisniewski (34)
Ference (16) - Montador (15)

It's quite possible that a few of us will being to walk away with the Cup in season 1 of this challnge, which is quite a bit different from the last challenge.

I wish I would, Mr. Fancy New Avatar. I want to prove myself that I can do tactics right and win, something I wasn't able to do with Islanders.

Anyway, so far I played only two exhibitions ( those 12 hour part-time job shifts are killing me! :( ) and Selanne is already down for 1 month. I guess one youngster will have to step up big time. Let's see... Latendresse, Ryan, McArdle? Hopefully the remaining exhibitions will give me better picture of what are they capable of. Even if exhibitions are misleading, but meh,... I am gonna continue in a few minutes. I am planning on fishing pre-season tonight.

Latendresse is probably your best choice to call up. My opinion of course, you can call up whoever you choose :-p

I finished my first quarter of the season and am not surprised by the usual output of Selanne (31pts in 20 games and missed 6 games with an ankle injury) and Doan (38pts in 26 games), but I am very surprised that Ruutu chipped in 21 points in 26 games. My D isn't too bad with Keith leading the way with 15 points. Mason has been my number 1 all season with a 10-5-2 record, despite a GAA over 3.5 and a save percentage under 89%!

I just had to turn away a deal from Columbus for two prospects and a 3rd rounder for Bobby Ryan, which I wasn't going to take anyway, but found interesting that Columbus would've given me that much.

On a lighter note, I loaned Kenndal McArdle out to the Fort Wayne Komets and he has 10 points in 8 games for them.

Latendresse is probably best suited to playing with the big club out of all of the youngsters. He's got a more well rounded game than the rest.

I agree with B72 on that one.
I'd still rather keep him developing in the AHL though.

I may be crazy, but I sent Mason AND Gagner back to junior. I want them both to develop properly and I've found keeping most players in junior for as long as possible is best.

I'm thinking Ryan will start the year in the AHL - but I haven't quite hit training camp yet, so things could change.

10 games in, decent 6-2-2 record, but waaay too many goals allowed. Mostly thanks to blowout by Sharks 9-0. Both goalies are under .900. Working defense is something I have never figured out.

Same here. I score a lot of goals, but my D is horrible. Especially PK.

Really? I didn't even realize that Mason was still eligible for junior. That hadn't even crossed my mind because of his skill level.

Did you sign any of your unsigned prospects? I had the same problem when I signed Sutter to better control his development. Just waived some third tier guy and the problem was solved. Of course, I lost someone on waivers not long after, so I think it was the combination of the two events.

Yes that's what happened.. I just wasn't sure if I was allowed to waive any players or not.
