THANK YOU SO MUCH! What an improvement this will be thanks to your efforts XenHL! I'm currently inputting the colour schemes you provided; so far I've gone through 11 NHL teams and 5 have had changes made.......just wondering, what happened to the Chicago Black Hawks?XenHL wrote:Okay, so I went through the database to check the colours in the five leagues. In cases I wasn't sure, I googled for photos of jerseys, so I think this should be fairly accurate. Note I'm listing all the teams, regardless of whether I made any changes to the colours or not.
Glad you like! As I mentioned there I had to make a couple of guesses as to team colours with junior teams, lacking jersey info I had to guess based on the logo colours.nino33 wrote: THANK YOU SO MUCH! Fixed!Manimal wrote:Pat Conacher is another guy who is both player and staff.
Good to know! Thanks!.....I'll have to add "changing Invalid Staff to Retired" to my list of things to do!Manimal wrote:Marc Bergevin is set as invalid in the editor but turns up as staff(I guess the invalids with non-player atts will do so). Either retire him or set him up as the player he was.
I'll have to fix that.....Orr was in the 1979-80 database and so I suspect his skating Attributes affect where he was at in 1979 (Orr never really played much after September 1976 due to his bad knees) - I adjusted CA/PA and sometimes specific Attributes, but further Attribute review is neededManimal wrote:BTW, Was Bobby Orr that slow? His skating is horrendous
It was on purpose, but I changed my mind again ages ago and just haven't got to the point where I've switched the name back to the Cailifornia Golden SealsXenHL wrote:By 74-75 the Seals were called California Golden Seals. Was this an oversight, or did you deliberately use the original name? If deliberate, I can put the original logo into the logo pack and put the original colours...
With fixing the signing of underagers issue taking up a lot of my editing time for the foreseeable future (and other important tasks on the list of things to do), I'm not likely to make further changes to teams at this point in time.......but I do "care" - I have notes of my own, plus Guides from the era, and I appreciate the comments/feedback/ideas of other users.....I will use all of these resources when I make improvements in the future (IIRC the QMJHL is missing the Trois Rivieres Draveurs!)XenHL wrote:Sorel Black Hawks - by everything I could find, "Black Hawks" is just an English 'translation' of the French name, "Sorel Éperviers"; it seems the Éperviers name is the official one... though I could well be wrong. Also, in the OHL you have three teams that are different incarnations of the same franchise: St. Catharine's Black Hawks -> Niagara Falls Flyers -> North Bay Centennials.
Montréal Bleu-Blanc-Rouge is another team that was named in French. Laval Nationale spelled their name diferently as well.nino33 wrote:With fixing the signing of underagers issue taking up a lot of my editing time for the foreseeable future (and other important tasks on the list of things to do), I'm not likely to make further changes to teams at this point in time.......but I do "care" - I have notes of my own, plus Guides from the era, and I appreciate the comments/feedback/ideas of other users.....I will use all of these resources when I make improvements in the future (IIRC the QMJHL is missing the Trois Rivieres Draveurs!)XenHL wrote:Sorel Black Hawks - by everything I could find, "Black Hawks" is just an English 'translation' of the French name, "Sorel Éperviers"; it seems the Éperviers name is the official one... though I could well be wrong. Also, in the OHL you have three teams that are different incarnations of the same franchise: St. Catharine's Black Hawks -> Niagara Falls Flyers -> North Bay Centennials.
I was messing with team names both times I lost hundreds of hours worth of work!.......while the messing with team names had nothing to do with the data loss, I may have developed a phobia! HaHa
He just needs to copy-paste in the editor...batdad wrote:For the names...it is probably more of a case of Nino not knowing how to make the dot over Loob's name and all the different accents etc on his keyboard. I agree on their being more important things to do. I just report the issues when I see them.XenHL wrote:While I agree on the player names, I don't think it's /hugely/ important. Plenty of more vital things to deal with first, IMO.
Re Laval's name - he got it right. The French name of the team was "National de Laval".
Sorry but this will be way, way down on my list of things to do.......and I have no idea why you're writing "This game is not only for the English speakers"Manimal wrote:Montréal Bleu-Blanc-Rouge is another team that was named in French. Laval Nationale spelled their name diferently as well.
I think this is something that should be corrected. As should spelling of European players, Håkan Loob, for example.
This game is not only for the English speakers.
CeeBee wrote:Henri Richard could probably use a good bump up on his influence as it's rather low for a guy who captained Les Habs for quite a few years

I posted earlier, but it's already back a page!.....Richard's Reputation was low (120) so I upped it, and upped both players Loyalty to 20, and now they both start the game with No Trade Contracts! Hopefully the Reputation increase will keep Richard from being put on Waivers...XenHL wrote:Re Boston/Bucyk and Montreal/Richard - oh, did that for me, too!
I wrote that because you had chosen English over French names and not used European spelling.nino33 wrote: ..and I have no idea why you're writing "This game is not only for the English speakers"
If you had just written your observations absolutely, but the statement I'm questioning has a negative implication IMO.Manimal wrote: nino33 wrote:

I know this is just the first test version, but I just post whatever things I'd like to see changed. I thought that was the reason of this whole thread.
I always struggled with the exact DOB/player age for league "age cut offs" (my created Minor Hockey Leagues overlap in some places because of this).....if you or anyone else can give me some specific names, I'll investigate further (or with a 2006 start date is it simply ensure that anyone born in 1986 has their junior rights? and anyone born in 1985/1984/etc doesn't need them?) - I know the 18 and 19 years olds should already have their Major Junior Rights, NHL Draft Information, and NHL Rights (drafted IRL in 1975 and 1976...in-game it shows as 2005 and 2006)Manimal wrote:There are several NHL-signed player with the age to be still playing in junior. Will you add rights to them?
I sent down two 20-year-olds to the AHL that I'd rather have playing their over-age year in juniors
Thank you. I've deleted Ranea and left Birth City blank for now as Earlton is not currently in the dbCeeBee wrote:Rosaire Paiement was born in Earlton Ontario, not Ranea Sweden.

Yes, it was negative. You can't expect to only get positive feedbacknino33 wrote:If you had just written your observations absolutely, but the statement I'm questioning has a negative implication IMO.
I could help out with Swedish/Norwegian/Danish and German/Swiss names, if you want to, when all rosters are done.nino33 wrote:- If I manage to find a way to keep historical European/Russians in-game, then when the rosters are "done" I would certainly look for help (yourself?) to obtain the correct European/Russian spelling for European/Russian players playing in Europe/Russia
Yes, 1986 is the cut-off year when starting in 2006.(that also means anyone born in 1987 or later should be available for the drafts. Perhaps even some late 86ers but I do not know the cut-off date there)nino33 wrote:I always struggled with the exact DOB/player age for league "age cut offs" (my created Minor Hockey Leagues overlap in some places because of this).....if you or anyone else can give me some specific names, I'll investigate further (or with a 2006 start date is it simply ensure that anyone born in 1986 has their junior rights? and anyone born in 1985/1984/etc doesn't need them?) - I know the 18 and 19 years olds should already have their Major Junior Rights, NHL Draft Information, and NHL Rights (drafted IRL in 1975 and 1976...in-game it shows as 2005 and 2006)
