Kind of felt like they were saying trade away players to get him, but when that other player is getting $7.5 million per year.

I'll pass on that trip.
Since I traded away Hemsky the board members seems to be determined to get him back. I think the forgets that the team is MUCH better now.

Well, if his ability was realistic I would have traded him, but in the game he's a monster and a top two centerman even at this age!
Hemsky has the goal-scoring record still for me but his inconsistent play hurt the team more than his goals helped. :(

I once play with the Oilers 3-4 seasons and darn I was about to shoot Hemsky, he is soooo bad in the game and like you said, inconsistent. I think I've been able to trade him but the board was so angry when I done that. :-D

Well he had one 48 goal season and one 51 goal (!) so bad isn't really my word, but not a top 10 exactly. Even though he scored that much he didn't manage to get an average rating higher than around 8.00, that's telling.

Yeah that's what I mean too. But he never got so many points with me, 70 pts season not more. but he stinks so much in defence, I'm sure it's the cause of is bad rating.

I managed to get through my first season with the Nordiques. Not as hard as I expected though. I know the season ranking isn't really accurate but I was last at the start. :-D

Finally finish at the 7th spot with a nice 44-31-7 record. The year been tough on injuries, ALOT of 2 weeks and 1 week. Been lucky that the team did a good job despite all of those injuries. I played mostly the season with 3-4 AHL'ers in my team. I hope next season will been better.

In the first round of the playoffs I'm against the Flyers. I got nice chances to win so we'll see about that.

Yeah Horcoff is waaaaay overrated in this game. There are several other players who are as well, like Jason Arnott, Dan Boyle, and Danius Zubrus. :dunno:

I can agree that the game has many players that are overrated in this game. Heck, I am in year 2030 right now. There are virtually no "original" players in the game.

It's all new and I've seen so many players from different teams that are just about 17 to 20 on every rating on the board and the post maybe 40 points for the season.

I've even tested the waters and grabbed some of these players and they do the same for me. I had my rookie that I drafted a few years ago finish with 89 points vs. one of the above guys with ratings at 17 to 20.

Crazy stuff, but fun to be this far into the game and still going strong.

I've won 4 Stanley Cups in a row and plan on going for the 5th this year.

Which version of the roosters do you use? It's only in the latest Lidas-update the inflating regens issue is somewhat fixed. The game was stacked with all the great great players (with HoF potential) which retired the first day and therefore boosted the prospect pool in an exaggerated way.

I am using the TBL:DB "Unfaking" Database that was released a long time ago. I like using that because it just corrects all of the names. The game itself then produces the players from year to year.

Personally I have been able to draft a lot of great talent ever since I started in the NHL and most of my team is made up of my draft picks. The defensive picks I've had are just crazy good and the offense is kind of 50/50. It takes them a few years to come into their own and get things going for themselves and the team as well.

Goaltending is the only thing that I haven't found yet. I did draft a goaltender in this past draft that looks and seems to have tons of potential. I'm hoping that after my lucky run with my current goaltender goes out that he will be able to step into the spot and do just as well, if not better for me.

I use the same database as V4ND3RP00L above, I just prefer not losing 3-4 seasons of my players' history, especially guys like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Lidstrom. In Lidstrom's case, it is also lost Norris Trophies. :-D

I like that database compared to starting a game up with the most recent release because you don't get to draft guys, ratings are changed, and I just feel like the game doesn't play as well.

Right now I have been able to trade up and grab the last 5 top picks in the draft and they have all turned out to be great on the team. It does take anywhere between 2 to 3 seasons for them to catch their footing, but when they did... it was awesome!

I got a team full of great young talent and they love to win and I plan on keeping that going as much as possible.

I've got 5 Stanley Cups in a row, shooting for number 6 right now.

Hi,

I've got two saves running at the moment. The first is starting from the bottom and working my way up, currently with Peterborough Petes in the WHL. I won the playoffs at the first time of asking and currently on course for number two. The second save is with the Slough Jets in the UK after moving into the Elite league. Just started that and won the first game 4-0, but I think it will be a hard season....

I'm currently playing my old GM career, where I started from bottom and I'm just about to start my second season in NHL in year 2019.
2018-19 season I was GM in Panthers. Panthers sucked big time and team was oldest in whole league, but I managed to reach 4th position in conference.
We failed in playoffs for some reason, but best thing in that season was that I spotted some great low ability players, like Joakim Andersson who is 3rd line talent in scouting reports, but he had 8.7 AvR in end of season.
Lines in end of that season was something like this:

Michael Frolik - Gabriel Briere (1-2 talent regen) - Ryan Kesler
Chris Kreider - Joakim Andersson - Oskar Osala
Ryan Callahan - Mike Pelech - Justin Jokinen
Ilmari Pitkänen - David Toews - B.J. Crombeen

David Musil (3-4 talent regen) - Jay Bouwmeester
Kevin Shattenkirk - Jack Johnson
Georgi Berdyukov - Michael Del Zotto

Peter Budaj - Dennis Lang (Failed Kölzig regen)

For the 2019-20 season I moved in Capitals, because I hate to share AHL affiliation with another team.
Capitals lost Ovechkin during off-season, but they still have diamond Hasek regen and many other big and young names.. so SC here we come.

So

i have started a new game with Lidas 2.2 DB. I chose Mlada Boleslav :-D . In my first season, no player commitments were possible because the budget limit (1,400,000 €) was very low and no player was interessted to play in my team. So I had to make do with that was available to me. The tip of the media was the 14th place. So the last! We had achieved 7th place and are eliminated in the first playoff round. =D>

For the second season, I have strengthened my team and are currently in second place in the Extraliga. Also I'm the manager of Slovakia U20.

My Team:

J. Polansky - J. Sindel - J. Fiedler
D. Kuchejda - L. Duba - N. Anderson
J. Kracjk - J. Sochor - Z. Bahensky
N. Gajovsky - L. Papiska - T. Nouza

P. Trnka - R. Bicanek
P. Gregorek - J. Cutta
T. Zizka - M. Sterbak
V. Jirus - C. Neilson

M. Schwarz
R. Mayer

Ottawa Senators .... on The Top

2039 offseason with the Rangers. After winning 3 straight Cups (4 in 7 years) and 7 out of 8 President's Trophy, we got knocked out our pedestal, losing in the 2nd round for the last two seasons (to the eventual Cup winners both times, if that is any consolation...).

Our good run was made possible by a trio of good young (and cheap) players. Now that they're getting superstar money, I can't afford to keep the veterans and the last draft when pretty shallow for us, so no cheap top 6 players this time around... I had to let go 2 thirty-four year-old veterans (including a guy that drafted by previous management and played over 1000 games for the Blue Shirts...) and replace with 2nd tier UFAs...

Things look a bit better on defense. One All-Star walked but I have two of my 1st round picks (now 21 year-old) coming in. They look good.

But yeah... our depth is adequate at best and I really need some of my offensive prospect to break through. Otherwise it could be a long period of early playoff exits without any real hope of a Cup...

Hi Folks,
I am now somewhere in 2019 and have quite a trip behind me.
I started in the finnish SM league with JYP. I had lots of fun. I signed lots of 16,17 yrs old talented players and moulded them into NHL shape. However, at some point I got bored of losing all my favorite players. In addition, I was always the number three in the league. So, I decided to change the settings and moved to juniors - to Ottawa 67s in the OHL.
I changed the team quite heavily by drafting and trading. As a result, we moved from the worst team in the league to a top contender. Stayed there for some time, tried to win something. But I had no success and then I had a really bad idea - I moved to the ECHL. I didn't like it at all. I was there for 1-2 months and went straight back to the juniors, Regina Pats, WHL.
Again, lots of fun but no real satisfaction. Again I coud not win an award. So I hoped this might change in the AHL, with the Pens farm team, Wilkes-Barre. I had some good gaming: I always dominated during the regular season. Then, before the playoffs, the Pens decided to call up all the good players; and I sucked big time in the playoffs. Especially the goalie situation got me so angry that I went after 2 seasons to Dusseldorf in the german league. Finally I won the championship! Befitting to my managing style, I gathered every talented young player I could get my hands on. Sadly none of them was useful as a top six forward.
However, I stayed until I saw a very unusual situation going on in the THIRD finnish league. Assat Pori fired their manager and was going to be relegated from the third finnish league!! I thought to myself: Oh no, wait. You cannot let that happen. So I applied for the job, got it and this was the best decision I ever made. We managed to finnish the season as 5th. Therefore no playoffs. However, after this season I signed very good players - Assat had some 6 millions assets and the budget was 350K or so. Much more than all the teams in the third league. However, the following season was not easy. I had to fight to finish the season at the third position. The first round of the playoffs was really close - but I won. From there on, something changed. All of a sudden, I started to dominate! I basically rushed into the mestis league, where my team spend only one season. We teared it apart it completely. The promotion into the SM league was very easy. This is now where I am at the moment. I hope I manage to stay permanently in the SM league. And I think I may be looking for a NHL job soon. Maybe the Leafs or the Ducks....
So long

Planning on shipping out Wilson and Gudbranson. Letting Ersberg walk since Campbell should be ready this season. Halls unhappy so he'll be dealt probably(His and Gudbransons RFA rights for prospects/picks). Should give me...

Midway through my first season with the Hurricanes using Lidas 2.3 Update.

After 43 games I am 30-10-3 and sitting 1st overall, much better than the season preview ranking of 30th :)

Current lines are:

E.Cole - E.Staal - B.Wheeler
T.Ruutu - R. Brind'Amour - D. Stafford
R. Whitney - B. Dubinsky - G. Latendresse
C. Terry - B. Richardson - T. Kostopoulos

B. Coburn - B. Pothier
J. Pitkanen - T. Gleason
T. Myers - L. Schenn
G. Exelby - F. Beauchemin

M. Legace
J. Peters

We have had a very good first half of the season so I really can't complain about much, other than the 4 month injury to Cam Ward that means he will be unavailable until late April. Another plus for us is that we have have the Top Scorer, Erik Cole (31), Most Assists, Eric Staal (38) and Top Point Scorer, Eric Staal (58) in the league

Hey all,

I am 63 games into my second season as the Saskatchewan Huskies and farm Montana Mustangs :-D. I am testing my alternate DB. I did a fantasy draft with 'use real names' unchecked, so all the players are fake. It's actually been really fun.

I took I think an Iginla mask overall and I know I also picked up St. Louis, Selanne, Price and what looked like Strait. My team looked pretty decent on paper. I had an incredible first season. Without really trying I roared to something ridiculous like a 14-0-0 start before quieting down. I was blowing out teams left right and center. I ended with something like 326 GF and I made only one trade throughout the season (Strait for a younger, rawer defenseman). I ended with 126 points, though throughout the latter part of the season the Whalers tailed me until they dropped off in the final 10 (finished second with 116). There's some 24 yo French center on the Bruins who has incredible stats that underperformed and a player I'm pretty sure who's Crosby playing for the Hamilton Wanderers who gave Iginla (named Gajic in game) a real run for the Art Ross. The Ovechkin regen/mask whatever has horrible mental stats, a complete bust. My Iginla/St. Louis masks netted 126/124 pts or something.

My playoff run was awesome. I swept my division rival Flames in the first round without letting in a single goal. Then I played the Milwaukee Millers, who I took to a 3-1 lead before dropping 2-straight and being forced to a game 7 triple overtime.. which Takala (Selanne) ended with a nice set-up for Gajic (Iginla) :D. I thrashed the Nordiques, ruining a potential Canadiens-Nordiques cup final- except that the Blues (Eastern champs) beat the Canadiens as well. Actually it was a pretty cool set up, since the Huskies play in Saskatoon in my DB- and the Blues were actually bought once upon a time ago by Bill Hunter, who tried to move them there in the '80s but was denied by the league. I dispatched them 4-0 but apart from Game 3 they were all very close.

I'm now in my second season. I'm learning how to optimize my team practice regimens now since a lot of my players decreased over the summer (foolishly left them to rest). Made quite a few roster moves and probably going to let some of my older players go in the off-season. I'm fighting for first place though I still think I can clinch the President's Trophy: but I'm nowhere near the dominance of last year. Still I'm 48-13-3 which is pretty good. Elsewhere in the league Philadelphia's center (who I think is Joe Thornton) is having an incredible season, the Hamilton Wanderers improved from 9th to 3rd place and the Portland Stags went on a league record 11-game losing streak.. before winning and going on a 12-game one :D.

Of note though, my farm team went on an incredible streak. Last year they had lost in the semi-finals to the Idaho Steelheads (yes I moved them to the AHL) who went on to beat the Lightning for the Calder Cup. I signed a bunch of very decent players out of lower leagues in the off-season and have a phenom Swedish forward who can't play D for Adam Oates but scores like there's no tomorrow. They absolutely tore up the AHL, starting the season like 24-0-0 before finally dropping a game to the Bruins. I know people on here have probably gone undefeated but as a complete noob to the game I was very pleased :D. They've now clinched the playoffs only 60 games in, having gone 50-8-2.

I am in my second season with Chicago Blackhawks, this is Lidas 2.3 with the rosters of 09/10 season. The first season i succeeded in winning the Stanley Cup and it was actually rather easy, winning the president trophy with 123 points, then winning 3 of the 4 series 4:0 (incl. the stanley cup final). Only the final of the conference gave me a scare - after winning in OT in game 1 against the blue jackets, i lost 3 in a row, only to win game 5 in OT again and then also the next 2 games. Most notable trades in the 1st season were Rick DiPietro and Ilya Kovalchuk. DiPietro cost me my 2 goalies huet and niemi plus some other rights and weak guys, but the real deal was kovalchuk and he didn't cost me much, i don't know why (maybe because it is edited) but devils agreed a deal involving a bunch of not so good guys plus picks and rights for kovalchuk and he went on to making almost 200 points that season, taking just about any individual trophy possible :)

so my line up looked so:

dipietro toivonen

kovalchuk sharp hossa
ladd toews kane
versteeg bolland brouwer

keith campbel
johnsson seabrook
boynton hjalmarsson

during the season some changes were made and havlat and cory perry came, versteeg and brouwer and other went.

in the break between seasons i decided to make some changes. i shipped out dipietro sharp perry campbel and others. i got luongo on free, setoguchi, marc staal, wideman and some youngsters and for this season the line up looks like this:

luongo toivonen

kovalchuk toews hossa
havlat bolland kane
ladd shepard setoguchi
hacioretty hanzal prust (lw and c are 21 and 22 yo prospects, both pretty good and rw is random guy to fill the spot while 1st round pick, 1st overall Taylor Hall gets some more seasons)

keith seabrook
staal wideman
campoli cam fowler (cam fowler is 1st round, 3 overall pick)

1/3 of the season is over, chicago are 1st right now, but by thin margin, lets see if the can defend the cup :)

I have way too many good goalies haha

I have aging but amazing Lou, a Campbell starting to be great, a Hasek or Cechmanek regen whos amazing, and two other great regens beasting in the A

And my defense is set for when Pronger and Chara retire. And after I trade some guys like Schroeder and maybe Hall Im set on offense for life 8-)

I think Im a sick Gm in this :-D

I have forbid me to make unreasonable trades and use offensive tactics. That makes the game way harder. Add to it that I let at least one really good UFA go per season and rarely sign any UFAs. Plus many other rules and regulations.

Try that and see if you can be a "sick Gm" anymore. ;)
