So, a question - I haven't yet downloaded the new DB. Are there still stats that need done? If so, I'll happily get back to them now, though maybe not quite at the same pace as before.

Hi Xen!
There are still players needing stats/history added! In fact, there has been no additional player stats/history added since the earlier work that you did.
It'd be great (and much appreciated) if you can do some more!

Thanks Arch!
I noticed 13 year old Wayne Gretzky's weight problem...at 13 he's 5'6" and 198 pounds!
Height/Weight still doesn't work for young players (players younger than the game was designed for). I'll be looking at it some more this summer.
I spent time on the issue last fall (without making much progress); Gretzky (like all younger players) currently has a "0" for both Height and Weight....it's the game that created the 5'6" and 198 pound sized Gretzky on this occasion.
It is extremely difficult (impossible?) to "fix" this Height/Weight issue, as growth amounts are random.
It may be something that has to be addressed (by those that want to) using the SavedGame Editor; perhaps in the future we'll have a better/more robust SavedGame Editor and it'll be easier to fix this issue (updates/corrections via a csv file?)

Sweet! I'll give myself a refresh as to the process and where I left off, and then go from there!
Yesterday while I was playing my long-term game, I found another odd name - a Swedish player who had "detroit" (all lower case) as his first name. I've also been finding a bunch of "female" players coming along - Doris, Allie, Teegan, Trish, etc... (actually I drafted Allie, since she's a 6'4", 230 (something like that, can't recall off hand and don't have the game open right now) defender who I think may turn out to be a decent 6th or 7th defender).
A thought I had on seeing that others have the issue of Lemieux retiring well before reaching juniors: maybe for him, Gretzky and I dunno who else, boost their reps? Maybe that might ensure that they'll always be high on all the AI's lists of whom to go after?
Super curious about those screenshots in the release thread:
The different jersey-like background in the title bar - where's that from?

Now there's an idea!

I'll find some time to look into this in the coming weeks. Are you just looking to set the height and weight on start up - or are you looking to set it on an annual basis?

I was thinking annually...

The way I see it, there are potentially two solutions:
1) Have an EHM Updater style of spreadsheet which you can use to set players' heights, weights, attributes, etc.
2) Have a spreadsheet which states year-by-year what heights and weights to assign a player. The tool would detect what year it is in-game and apply the correct heights and weights for that year. Essentially, you'd be able to set how a player's height and weight develops over the years.
#1 is more feasible than #2, but I don't see #2 being totally out of the question. If I can find where in the saved game the current date is stored, it'd be very possible...
I remember a long time back there was something you were recommending that when we first start a game with your DB that we use the Saved Game Editor to change certain things on starting up the game (was it reputation or something?). I can't remember exactly what it was (and I don't particularly want to read back through all 880+ posts in this thread!!) - can you remember what it was? The reason I ask is that it'd be neat to write some sort of saved game patch that could make all of these changes when you first start your game.
Another interesting thing is that Lazion has figured out
here how to potentially modify contract details for players - for example by adding/removing NTCs and NHL release clauses.

IIRC it was CA and Reputation, in an attempt to "control/edit" NTCs and NHL Release Clauses (though as I recall NHL teams could still sometimes sign away Europeans/Russians even if they had no NHL Release Clause!); player Age and Loyalty was also looked at at the time too (as both affect NTCs)
FYI - My notes indicate to get a NTC at start-up a player has to be 32+ years old, with a Loyalty value of at least 16 and a Current Reputation of at least 145.

EHM crashes for me when clicking "new game" after I put the new DB in the Databases folder. I'll re-download and see if it was corrupted.

Time to solve a mystery then as this is the first time I've encountered this. At least you've seen my problem and if you come up with anything to try, just write it. And I wanted to try this DB out.

I'm "english only" so I don't even understand your error message...maybe try redownloading the database, or send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you the database (loaded up fine for me minutes ago)

But I don't understand either (at all!), but some do (like Archi!) and maybe they'll have some insight

I spent two years and a few thousand hours before XenHL's fantastic help with adding player history, and Arch's tools are available for everyone; I spent a year working on it daily before I even mentioned it on TBL (and I've now been working on it for almost 3 years!)

Hello to Archi (or anyone else that may be able to help)...I did end up emailing visualdarkness a copy of the 1974 db that loads up fine on my computer, but it didn't work for visualdarkness (the error info is noted a few posts above this one)

This sounds like this could be a similar issue many other users have encountered before (myself included) - there's a thread on this problem
here. Something about the Database folder can get EHM really confused!
My recommendation would be as follows:
1) Go to you Database folder and delete everything inside of it (or just move its contents to your desktop or another folder if you want to back it up).
2) Download the
original v3.0.4 rosters and place them directly in your Database folder (ie not within any sub-folder).
3) Download Nino's DB and any other DBs you want to use and place them within sub-folders of the Database folder.
I can't say for sure that it'll work, but it has worked for other users. It seems EHM can get really fussy about whether there is any DB located directly within the Database folder. Quite a few of us believe that it's best to err on the side of caution by leaving the original default rosters in the Database folder and placing any custom DBs in sub-folders.
It is also worth ensuring that when you add a DB to a new sub-folder that all of the files are directly located within the sub-folder and not within a sub-folder of the sub-folder.

Nino and Manimal's DBs have been the only DBs that have been developed actively over the past few years. So it makes sense I'd customise my tools towards what they want (and because I enjoy each of their DBs immensely). However, anybody is more than welcome to give me suggestions on what to add to the EHM Updater or the Saved Game Tool (and several people have done so) - just drop me a PM or post in the
Saved Game Structure Thread. That's not to guarantee that I'll be able to add the functionality you want (I have a to do list longer than my arm!

), but I will certainly consider it.

Unless you have a function that clears writers block, then I should be perfectly comfortable making my universe with the tools available

I'll try it as I haven't been able to click on "new game" when I place the 1974 2.0 db folder in the database folder. As soon as I erase or move the database it works as before. It's as if EHM finds or can't find something that it wants when searching DB info for the 2.0 one. I really hope it works even though I already have all custom db's in sub-folders and the original on directly in the database one.
