How Do You Minimize Injuries?

So a week ago I started a new file for EHM 07 where I manage the Columbus Blue Jackets.
It's been a successful year so far, in my first year I lost to the Washington Capitals in Seven Games in the Stanley Cup Final.
Now I'm in my second year, and the injuries have gotten out of hand recently and I have no idea why. For as long as I've had EHM07, I've never had to deal with a large amount of injuries, so this would be the first.
In my second year, the team barely made the playoffs (7th Seed) due to injuries. On to the playoffs, the team was off to a great start. We upset the 2nd seeded Chicago Blackhawks by sweeping the series, then we upset the President's Trophy winners the Calgary Flames in 5 games.
Suddenly the injuries start as soon as I enter the Western Conference Finals against the 4th seeded San Jose Sharks. We were able to take a commanding 3 - 0 lead in the series, but we suffered a number of injuries going into the Conference Finals.
Rick Nash was out for a month
Antero Nittymaki was out for a month.
Bobby Ryan was out for 3 week.
Brad Richards was out for 3 weeks.
Dion Phaneuf was out for 4 months.
Danny Heatley was out for a month.
Needless to say, the San Jose Sharks came back from a 3 - 0 deficit and forced a decisive game 7 which they won by a score of (2 - 1) and eventually defeated the Montreal Canadiens to win the Stanley Cup in 6 games.
I WAS raging! We took a stranglehold grip on the series! But then we got buried in a number of injuries!!!!!!!
I was FORCED to bring up young prospects from the AHL to play big minutes -_____-
How does one minimize the number of injuries? It was a frustrating year.
