Vote for the next challenge team!

We're looking to launch a new challenge now that the roster crew has released a new version of the TBL Rosters. It's getting harder and harder to find teams that are challenging enough for our challenges. Because of this, we're going to go back to a team we've used in the past and play with them again (but I'm sure their roster will be changed in the new database). We wanted to give the community a say in which team we'll use.
See this thread to vote...

I'm not likely to play this challenge. I haven't been enjoying the challegnes and have found a nice rythmn with my Worst to NHL play through. Maybe I'll revisit the idea once the team is annouced.

I'll be in for this one. Never done a challenge before, why not now I suppose.

Why don't you enjoy them? It'd be really useful to get some feedback on this.
The number of users in the last Challenge was very low. I'd be interested to know why this is (I'm guessing the more-or-less impending release of FHM is a factor) and whether there is anything we can do to help make things more enjoyable.
I've got to put my hands up and say that I haven't announced winners and awarded the points/trophies for a few Challenges now. That's entirely my fault. It's pretty time-consuming to calculate all of the points, etc. I'm working at the moment on redesigning the Challenge parts of the site, including adding the ability for the site to automatically calculate the points (and hopefully also award the trophies). This should make things much better. I'm also going to add the ability for users to choose whether they use either EHM or FHM to participate in the Challenges (but we will have individual standings, winners and rules for each game because obviously performances in EHM and FHM cannot be compared). If there's anything else that users would like to see, now is a good time to suggest it as I'm working on it at the moment.

I really like the idea of using FHM for challenges. Seems like the natural progression. Really looking forward to the game arriving!

I wanted to participate in the Flames Challenge, but ultimately failed to due to lack of time. Now I have a pretty interesting Islanders game going, but would consider playing in another Challenge. Voted for the Leafs.
I haven't been following the FHM updates; is there a Mac version in the planning?

Yes - there will be Windows and Mac versions.

I haven't been able to participate in the last few challenges (although I started the Calgary challenge), due to many reasons, but I would like to get back in the game and participate in this challenge, especially if the Leafs (who I voted for) are the team that we are able to use.

For me I think it has alot to do with my style of play. I am more of a GM-type player rather than a coach/tactics-type. After all the challenges I have played and allt he attempts to improve my tactical knowledge I seem to always get the same results. I prefer to have the coach run the games and jsut try to bring in the right personell.
As well as some of the team movement limitations. It seems to be we find the worst team and see who can 'coach' them better than the other. While I don't intend to blow-up any roster completely and like to complete realistic trades (I'm actually a very loyal GM and find it hard to deal away players), I don't like the one-for-one trade and the salary limitations on UFAs. It seems I can only get a third line deal done, or a third line/minor leaguer signed in the off-season.
I know this last part was addressed recently, but by then I also has started the worst league to NHL game path for myself and have been enjoying it quite a bit. I think in all honesty they way I've been playing has brought a fresh approach to the game as I am witha team for a few years then move on, there is real motivation to playing again (I must admit the promotion/relegation leagues have been alot of fun)

Yeah...I totally get where Loosie is coming from. I know me saying it is weird. But...I always feel that me winning so many challenges and always finishing in the top 2-3 had more to do with my TACTICS and skills in that area...which is coaching...then it did with the managing part of things.
Yes..drafting played a huge part, as did me hiring the right people to develop my guys. But in some ways it did not...because it was the out of the box (already on the roster) guys that really matter in the first 2-3 years of the challenge. I got good coaches and had them develop those guys and played them in roles where they would work (at least to the best they could) BUT....I fully believe that it was my tactics that allowed me to succeed where others failed.
But..that is not really the reason I have not been playing the last few. It is three fold:
1. I do not necessarily have the time.
2. I am somewhat bored iwth EHM (Hence why for awhile I was following DMA and DMB stuff) and was looking for something new.
3. When I do have the time, I am choosing NOT to play EHM because I am not all that excited by it anymore. The one game I do go into is my long career one....and I NEVER EVER coach in it. I watch the games on enhanced and work only as GM. That has become more interesting for me, as I have to bring in guys who my coach can work with (and these guys do not always fit in with the tactics I liked to use when I was coaching the games myself)
So all in all...I will likely come back and do some challenge stuff once FHM comes out. But not right away...because off the hop we need to get used to the game, and learn its intricacies and the ways the AI can be exploited ...then once we do...we can shut down the Marleau/Nittymaakiiiiiiiiii stuff and I would be more likely to get involved in the challenges.

We had more people vote for the Leafs than we had participants for the last challenge, so we're going with the Maple Leafs!
