Facepacks

It looks like facepacks from EHM could be compatible with FHM. We'll need to wait until the next beta release, but the filename format is identical and the image dimensions are virtually identical:
Code: Select all
PNG file with transparent background, size is 170x154. The naming is "FirstName_LastName_BirthDay_Month_Year.png". Example: Jonathan_Toews_29_4_1988.png.
Eventually the game will include Facegen (by September's release) so I'm not sure if it's worth the time and energy creating a new facepack especially for FHM. However, it might be worth trying a recent EHM facepack in the next beta:

I was going to ask about a facepack.
That's good news that could potentially save a lot of time. I have a large mugshot facepack that I use for EHM, i'll see if I can get them working in FHM. Is there a specific folder that the files need to be placed in?

Oh wow! I'd deliberately not read your original topic as I was waiting until I finished my exams tomorrow to read it and get it on the SkyDrive site. In which case, all that needs doing is to batch crop and/or resize the images and test it in the next beta. I've got some software that'll batch crop/resize so I should be able to do that no problem - once the next private beta comes online I'll be able to test it out.

Regarding the dimensions of the face images, I recommend 150px tall and no wider than 170px. Although the images can be a maximum of 154px tall, I recommend going no larger than 150px so that there is a bit of a gap between the top of the face image and the FHM window border.

With the little controversy going on over at the "other" forum with the facepack naming convention. Jeepers, I hope Sebastien doesn't pay too much attention to the 2 or 3 complainers about the birthdate thing. I don't see how the middle initial thing is any better but I guess according to some people OOTP does everything better?

Jeff's response hit the nail on the head. It has become a pretty pointless debate now. As I was saying in out Beta Thread (the one on our TBL Forums), most of the criticism seems to be coming from people who aren't even developing facepacks. It's almost like jumping on the bandwagon for the sake of an argument.

I have got an EIHL facepack in 'development' so to speak. Will have to finish it tomorrow when I get chance.

That's brilliant!

I'd planned to do one myself once things had quietened down. You've saved me a task!

So I guess facepacks can also be included for history mode? How will that exactly work?
I mean, I'd probably do one "young" pic and one "old" of the same player, if that could work. Like in the 90's Teemu Selänne has that rookie face, and after he gets 30 he gets an older face.
Boy, that would take time to do faces for the 40's to current date.

At least there were only 6 teams up till 1967 and the number didn't reach 30 till the 90's.

LOL...it was quite the kerfuffle. I love that word. I have not looked ...did my Greg "Gus" Adams and Greg C Adams make it worse?
Secretly it was very fun to type that.

It looks good, we usually use 157x200 px, yours were a bit smaller. But if you can't get them that big it's ok!
