New Project - Not Sure Where to Start

Hi, I've been playing EHM 2007 for years and recently I began formulating a project to co-exist with my alternate reality worldbuilding. Basically I want to create a fictional league over the top of the Swedish Elitserien and Allsvenskan (primarily because it's my favourite league/points structure in the game). I don't want to edit the league rules to any extent, but I want to move the current teams within the league and move/create lower reputation teams into the league structure. I want a league with a reputation similar to that of Iceland (as my fictional country is roughly a similar size), I also want to create a national team which could be played in game be that replacing an existing team such as Mongolia or UAE.
The problem is I don't know where to start or whether it is possible. I've read up on Nation Editing/Swapping (http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 10&t=10595) and I've downloaded the Nation Extraxtor but I'm not sure how to bring it all together.
The fictional nation is a mix of Russia, Norwegian, American and Inuit cultures, I like the idea of bringing lower reputation players and teams from Russia, Norway and America into the Elitserien and Allsvenskan and simply editing team names and details and player names/Places of Birth as a simple fix but I'm not sure whether that would brick the game or how the teams would advance down the line in terms of the players would bring in and the nationality of players joining and regening (would the game simply start signing better players into the league, or Swedish players or none at all as I've noticed happens to teams from countries like Iceland and South Africa in the current manimal database... and would I have to create a bank of names so that the regen players had appropriate names assuming I could add my fictional country into the game).
Is it even possible to change the nation of a playable league and add teams from foreign nations into said league and does the game draw upon the league or the club data when signing/regening players. Also, not sure what to do about the Swedish Third tier teams that compete to enter the Allsvenskan at the end of the season.
