The latest beta version (v0.9.34 - also incorporating a DB update) is available to download here:

* PC: http://files.ootpdevelopments.com/fhm/v ... 4setup.exe
* Mac: http://files.ootpdevelopments.com/fhm/v ... taller.dmg

To install, just run the setup programme. There is no need to uninstall the previous version first (in fact, you should avoid doing so).

Here's the changelist:
JeffR wrote:*** 0.9.34 (28 May 2013) ***

Bug fixes:

Player contentment will no longer remain at "happy" when sent to a farm team.
Good young players more likely to get key player/top prospect designation.
AI roster management should now make more logical decisions re: goalies.
Players in historical mode should no longer appear without names.
Nonplayable transactions should no longer cause most youth-aged players to retire after one season.
Nonplayable transactions to multinational junior leagues no longer restricted to teams of same nationality as player.
Players with missing positions in database should no longer receive odd multiple-position combinations.

Changes:

New player generation system completely replaced.
National player generation quality settings adjusted.
System for determining player college/junior choices adjusted.
French Ligue Magnus now playable.

Database Changes:

Players with NHL debuts in 1996-97 now included in historical database.
Leagues/countries with significant amounts of updated data: NHL, AHL, NCAA, OHL, KHL, France, UK.
JeffR wrote:A couple of notes on the notes below:

-the new name generation system is, for the moment, working at the national level, e.g. every Swedish player is named from the same list of names (lists, actually, there's a small chance for non-Swedish names.) Obviously, this isn't optimal for countries like Canada, where there are big regional variations in the names of players, most prominently players from Quebec having French-Canadian names. So we're going to implement provincial-based naming as soon as we can make some changes to the way the xml file that governs the game's geography is set up (Andreas is the one that'll be doing that, so we're at the mercy of his OOTP workload there.) But once that's in and YZG, the names researcher, has a chance to get it all set up and we work out any bugs, this will be the best naming system you've ever seen in a sports management game.

-the new filling system for incomplete data, naming system, and junior league fill during initial setup are part of a player generation/development overhaul that gets its final step added next: a new player generation system that will add a new class of 14-year-olds every year rather than providing ad hoc fills higher up the development ladder as it does now, and will do so in a manner designed to keep the talent pool consistent and realistic. We're going to start implementing that tomorrow, and are aiming to release an update that will include it before most of us head to New York in the middle of next week. With all that in and the game's player pool finally populating and developing realistically, we can start taking serious steps at improving everything related to player evaluation and comparison - trading, signing, scouting, and other roster management issues.

-league-specific goals per game and other similar settings are all in the database now, but still not working in-game yet. Hoping to have this done by next week's update.

-finally, a known issue: a small number of real players are receiving default placeholder names ("Jim" for first name and/or "Unknown" for last) for reasons we haven't been able to identify yet. We'll get that fixed in next week's update, but it's not worth holding the rest of the update for right now.

Changes/Fixes/Additions:

*** 0.9.31 (23 May 2013) ***

Bug fixes:

Playoff stats now display properly on player stats screen.
Filtering to Goalie Stats on the league leaders/player stats screen no longer breaks the links to the player profiles there.
Links to teams in the standings screen of the Mestis/Suomi-Sarja playdowns no longer leads to the wrong team.
KHL teams should now sign free agents during the season.
Error in hidden attribute calculation from templates fixed.
Bug where some players received all 1's in hidden ratings fixed.
Mislabeled Adaptablity and Ambition attributes corrected.
Free agents now remain sorted when moving to next page of list.
Players in age-based leagues should now be moved away properly by the nonplayable transactions system once they "graduate."

Changes:

Mac version now available.
New naming system implemented - generated players no longer all getting English names.
New home screen for the user (while employed).
New system for filling out incomplete player ratings and data.
Generic junior/college/under-20 leagues now filled with players during setup, should provide sufficient draftees for junior leagues and keep the player pool normal-sized until the regeneration engine can fill the 14-to-20-year-old gap in the starting database.
GM now gets a reminder to reduce the protected list before an upcoming draft.
Some commissioner mode editing re-enabled, specifically Salary Cap editing, changing the trade deadline day, and changing the active roster size (increase the last one with caution, going too large will lead to player-hoarding behaviour by AI teams.)

Database Changes:

Players with NHL debuts up in 1994-95 and 1995-1996 now included in historical database.
Leagues/countries with significant amounts of updated data: NHL, AHL, NCAA, OHL, QMJHL, KHL, Finland, France, Sweden, UK.

I bought/checked out the game on day 1, and haven't touched it since...when I do decide to get back to the FHM beta (likely still a few builds away), will I have to download each update individually in order? I'm thinking no, just download "the latest update" and I'm OK - correct?

Yes that's right. Just download the latest build and that's all you need to do (the latest build will also include the latest rosters too).

I just downloaded the beta version but I didn't dare to buy the key yet if they decide to just stop and not completing this game. Will certainly buy it when the full game is released.

Now I have a question; Does anyone know if there will be a editor for this game or is it to early to know that?

Thanks!

I think we will be able to edit almost anything if I remember correctly. It's somewhere in those FHM threads.

Sounds great. The editing is what makes this games so playable and durable. I am still editing ehm after almost 7 years :)

Another question; Do you also know how to import backgrounds, logos, player pics etc in FHM?

Is it easy like ehm when you just had to name the pictures in a certain way?

Thanks!

Will FHM have new 4 conferences?

Pretty sure FHM will have the relevent structures in any playable league for next season. Not sure when the beta will go to next season, it is tricky when to make the switch as do it too early there are too many free agents so I imagine surely after restricted free agents deadlines are past but enough time to test it out before the actual release of the game. I wonder if on final release the 2012/13 season will be like any historical season or if say we could choose to play it with all the relevant farm teams e.g. AHL. Not too fussed its the first version so a good game engine and decent customisation would be a great foundation to concentrate on initially.

Yes the new NHL conference alignment will be included. One of the really neat things with FHM, even in this early stage, is that the structures of leagues are very easily modified.

I think FHM will be moving over to 2013/14 at some point over the summer. So we'll have time to test it as 2013/14 before the September release date. We're actually updating the rosters at the moment as and when transactions are made - although it depends on each researcher's workload.

Sounds great!

Make sure the players are shooting the right way as they do IRL also. As of this update Linus Omark & John Moore are shooting right handed although they are Left shooters IRL!

Just a point I have!
