EHM The Blue Line

Whilst waiting for FHM14 to be abit more playable I decided to start another game on the first incarnation of EHM with the Sheffield Steelers I am 7 seasons in at the moment so these first few posts will be pretty quick

My main aims in this save are to win as many trophies as possible whilst trying to get players to score more than 500 points for me over the course of their Steelers careers.

Season 1 2003/04





5th in the league wasn't exactly the greatest we signed one player a young Canadian called Jason Battershill we were knocked out of the play-offs at the group stage where the Manchester Phoenix went on to win in the final 4-2 against the Nottingham Panthers

Season 2 2004/05





6th in the table not exactly great considering what I thought were to be some good signings. We were knocked out of the play-offs at the group stage again

We bought in Derek King, Greg Liddiard, Tom Bailey, Tom Wall, Stephen King, James Hyman & Simon Florence all young British players as well as John Birnstill, Andrej Podkonicky & Matt Murley all good professional players.

The playoffs were won by the Coventry Blaze who the Notting Panthers in the final 5-4

the British cup was won by the Manchester Phoenix who beat the Cardiff Devils 7-5 on aggregate.

Got this result mid-way through the 3rd season

Beat Basingstoke 12-4 to get us into the semi finals of the play-offs

Season 3 2005/06




The statistics page went abit weird and is not an accurate representation of our points scoring.

We finished 4th in the league 2 points from 3rd which is a big improvement on the season before. We got to the playoff semi-finals but were beaten by the Manchester Phoenix 5-4 who then went on to beat the Coventry Blaze 10 - 0 in the final

The British cup was also won by the Phoenix who beat the Cardiff Devils 3-2 on aggregate

Over the course of the season we bought in 8 players and let go of 17 the re-building begins

Season 4 2006/07





Finnished 4th again in the league but we were knocked out in the semi-finals of the play-offs again with the Manchester Phoenix beating us 4-1 but they lost to the Nottingham Panthers 5-3 in the final.

The British cup was won by the Manchester Phoenix who beat the Nottingham Panthers 8-5 on aggregate.

We signed 6 free agent players as well as buying Tom Hughes from the Sheffield Scimitars for £1k we also lost 6 players who didn't want to re sign and we sold Pat Kent for £10k to the Manchester Phoenix.

Season 5 2007/08





Still 4th in the league for third season running we were knocked out of the play-offs at the group stage as well.

The Nottingham Panthers won the play-off final beating the Cardiff Devils 4-3.

The Cardiff Devils won the British Cup 5-3 on aggregate against the Manchester Phoenix.

We signed 4 free agents and bought Matt Duffy from the Hull Stingrays for £5k and Russ Hopper from the Sheffield Scimitars for £1.5k, 4 players left who wouldn't re-sign with us.

Season 6 2008/09





Finished 4th again in the league and were knocked out again in the group stage of the play-offs

The Nottingham Panthers won the play-off final beating the Cardiff Devils 3-1.

The Nottingham Panthers also won the British cup beating the Manchester Phoenix 8-2 on aggregate.

We signed 3 free agents and signed Jonathan Phillips for £4k (bargain!!!) from the Telford Wild Foxes.

Season 7 2009/10





We won the league

We did however lose the play-off final to the Nottingham Panthers 4-2

The Manchester Phoenix won the British cup beating the Basingstoke Bison 8-4 on aggregate.

We bought in 8 players Jeff Rooney and R.J Umberger are both on high wages and had both played the previous season in the NHL. We lost 9 players to free agency including Andreas Valdix who had 271 points during his time with the Steelers we also sold Marcus Nyberg to Sodertalje for £16k
