EHM The Blue Line

Hey all...I've noticed when using the newest custom start patch and choosing '2013', you lose players rights for Euros such as Evgeny Kuznetsov. This is with the latest TBL rosters and I have gone into the pregame editor to make sure the contract situation was good (correct dates) and the players rights read correctly (in this case, Washington Capitals).

Tried again using the 2012 start date and the player rights remained (in this case he was still listed as property of the Washington Capitals).

I was really annoyed with a future star like this randomly being signed so I even tried adding a future transfer to the Washington Capitals after the 2013-14 season. Well, when I start the game, instead of showing that he is 'TRN' (transferring) at the end of the season to the Capitals (which is what it should do), it merely shows "BID" by his name with no info listed about who is bidding or who has interest in him. He still ends up signing with a random NHL team.

Any clue guys?

This has to do with how the game handles rights with for drafted players. A european player needs to be drafted in one of the two latest drafts to have his rights stay with the team. You can change that in the draft info tab in the pre-game editor. This also goes for un-signed RFAs at the start of a save.

I am well aware of this and will have it set up for version 6.0 (to be released later this fall)

Noticed when I started a new career that the above named player is a free agent (Evgeny Kuznetsov); also, the game does not keep Thomas McCollum's rights with the Red Wings despite the database showing his rights with the Wings. This is in 6.1.

I just did a test and both Kuznetsov and McCollums rights are there when I start the game

Sounds like the AI team must have dropped em right at start up in his game.

Nope, it looks like it is because I corrected the draft in my version of the database. I put McCollum in the correct draft position (2008) and that causes my team to lose his rights. I hate that EHM does this, especially since I have the Wings with his rights in the database. Very frustrating.

Thanks for testing it, sometimes EHM is irritating.

Sorry to point this out...but you change things in the game, and then come in and post that it does not work right, and that it must be the DB problem? actually, no I am not sorry to point that out. Just to each his own I guess.

Not at all. I didn't realize the changes I made would cause the rights issues with certain players. I have learned something here today, and learning is half the battle.

The other half is remembering what you learned. I struggle with that.

Great now I have to use mine which messes up player rights.
