European Leagues

Hi all,
I have mostly stuck to the CHL and NHL leagues but was curious how the European leagues worked? Are they more like the AHL where the pro team can take players away from you (either drafting or signing as an FA)?
Are there roster restrictions about players you can sign? For instance is it possible to grab a North American player not happy with playing time to your team?
Thanks for the help

If a player has an 'NHL Release Clause' in the contract details on their 'Information' portion of their profile page that means that they will be released from their contracts if they get signed by the NHL team that holds their rights. They can only transfer however over the summer so they are at least with your team for the full year.
Any of your players could be drafted or offered contracts by NHL teams.
You could sign any NHL players that are free agents and a lot of players remain in Europe for years even after an NHL team claims their rights via the draft. There are different kinds of limits in most leagues. Check out the league's standings page and click the 'info' link in the sidepanel to see what the rules for the league are. In some you can only have X number of non-native players while in others are you have to have X number of native players and the rest of the roster anything goes.
I haven't played in Europe since test before '05 came out though so one of our guys more experienced in those leagues can probably help you out more with details and suggestions

Makes sense, do you have any idea what transfers are like? Is it similar to UFA? What about trades? Are they similar to how soccer (football works) in that you pay money to transfer a player?

There are not UFA's/RFA's in Europe, players whose contracts run out will be plain free agents and can sign anywhere they want.
It's very uncommon that teams trade players with eachother, but is has been done a few times. If you get a team in EHM to make a trade with you (which is highly unlikely), you'll have to negotiate a new contract with the player obtained before the trade can go through.
In EHM teams quite often tend to buy players from eachother. This doesn't happen very much in real life, though.
