I think they'll go with the three A's for the '06-'07 season. Then in 2007 Crosby will be named captain.

I don't think it will be Crosby. :dunno: Captain isn't your best player, it's your team's spokesperson to the referees (as they are the ones that can debate calls without getting thrown in the box for arguing) and symbolically the leader of your team. Mainly I think it's due to his age, even given the extra year.

As for this upcoming year though I'd guess that whoever the 'veteran leader' they sign on in the offseason will take the de-facto Captaincy as I agree they will probably go a year with three A's; but there will still be one guy tabbed with the responsibility of getting/discussing the calls with the refs and it will be that guy.

So there's no captain in Pittsburgh? Wow, I've never seen a team without a captain before. Its kinda weird dont you think? I dont know about the 3 A's thing, but I think each team needs a leader and like minty said, maybe it will be the veteran player they signed in the off season that will be the captain.

Primeau is also still the Captain in Philly even though he was out for much of the year. Also Lemaire's Wild I believe it was and possibly the Predators early on shared the Captaincy, one player took November, another had December etc.

Detroit also played the year Yzerman missed most of due to his surgery with three A's as did the Kings when Allison went down.

Teams like Boston who traded their captain usually play the rest of the year w/three A's as well.

A couple of weeks ago I heard someone, maby Olczyk (or how he spells his name), saying that Elias, if he signs a new contract this summer, will be their new captain.

Seem's I'm coming a bit late to this convo, but I had to chip in.

That sums up Crosby pretty well.

No, but he was one of the three 'A' guys before Elias returned.

There is still a lot of talk of Rechi returning to Pittsburgh next year. I'd assume if he did he would take the C.

Crosby may get it in time as they are building team with him very much in mind.
