Finally have some time to do a proper story. I am using the unfaking database with NCAA update, and will be starting from the end of the 05-06 season with the Newcastle Vipers. (I will be stealing some of the stuff from my previous story, to save me retyping it all)

Shake up at the Vipers
Friday 14th April 2006

When Paddy O'Connor took over the Newcastle franchise he was excited at the prospect of Newcastle playing in the Elite league. But after a terrible first season in the elite league, its no suprise that he has fired general manager Ross O'Connor. Ross O'Connor is not the only casaulty though, head coach Glenn Mulvenna has also been released. Newcastles form in the league was the worst in club history, registering only 4 wins, 4 draws and 40 loses. The team only managed to score 96 goals whilst letting in a staggering 213. There are a few candidates lined up according to Paddy O'Connor, and a decision will be made in the next couple of days.

Fenton named as new General Manager
Monday 17th April 2006
http://www.thisisthenortheast.co.uk

NEWCASTLE Vipers have announced the signing of 27-year-old Canadian Stuart Fenton. While this may shock some, suprisingly Paddy O'Connor was ecstatic about the capture of Stuart Fenton, he said: Stuart is a major coup for the Vipers. He has little in experience of coaching, but we were looking for somebody young and enthusiastic. Stuart showed us a different side of hockey, he made it very clear his intentions and plans for the club. He shares our ambition and cannot wait to get behind the bench. Stuart was unfortunate in his junior career, taking a bad check from behind which put his hockey career on hold. He decided to get into coaching, boasting a Level 4 coaching degree. He got an assistant coach job in the QSPHL while quite young in his coaching years. And recently was looking to move to Europe. O'Connor was suprised by Fenton's tactics, saying: Most coaches got there agents to sort everything out. Fenton though called the offices and said he was interested. We flew out to St. Johns Newfoundland early this week to speak to him, and he clearly stuck out. He plays a different style of hockey, and we think he will be a diamond in the rough for us.

Stuart is set to fly into Manchester airport tomorrow.

Tuesday 18th April 2006

Having flown in this morning, I got straight to work to see what I am working with. The team made losses of £85,000 and has put the team in to the red. Though the ambitions of the team is to win the championship! So its a case of putting together a lower budget team to try and save the team. Newcastle have a history of going in to financial troubles, but I am going to try and sort this for the team. At the moment I am retaining no players from this season, following the dreadful form I am going to bring in a completely new team.

I cannot approach any players in the league until May 1st so the next week will be quiet, I am going to take the oppurtunity to do some scouting. I will be visiting some UHL/ECHL games to try and spot some potential targets.

Monday 1st April 2006

I can now approach players, though I realise that players will be asking for the most money at the moment. I will look around at the market, and see who is interested. I have a completely clean slate as there is no players on the team at the moment. The board are offering me £7000 so I have the full wage cap, though with the financial difficulties I will try and keep the wage budget down. Announcements will be made soon on players.
