BATDIDDY WHO SHOULD I GM?

POLL FOR my GAME. Doing something a little different here. TIme for you to have your say in what batdiddy does in EHM

You get to tell me what team to take over, then you get to tell me if I can make a trade, sign a guy, etc etc. I will randomly follow up with questions for you (all trades will be approved of here, with screenshots of players involved...see below)
Same for UFA signings, that fall within my rules below.

UUDB 6.1 DB, have been GM of Vancouver since beginning of the game 06-07.

Looking for a new challenge.who should I pick to take over as GM?

Unlike my last post, I have decided I will drop the Canucks immediately, and take over the Flyers (not using my experience as Canuck GM….that GM will retire in game.)

Trade rules I will NOT trade with the Canucks, nor will I pick up anyone from them off waivers. I will only allow myself trades during October and between Jan 15 and Feb 15. I will only make 1 trade each time at the most.

I will not trade for other team’s first or second round picks.
I will add my own picks, but only 1 per trade to make a deal happen.
I will post any trade I am considering that has been accepted here for feedback and accept deny. That trade post will be active for your say for 1 day. Then I will go with majority (Will not be poll, just a thread)

Free agents-I will not sign any UFA for over 3.5 million.
RFAs—will not sign any that are not my own property. No offer sheets.

Any UFA I am signing that has agreed to deal will be posted here for feedback. You tell me not to sign, I will not sign.

Waivers-will not pick up anyone under age of 27, nor anyone making over 2 million.
Will scout the world though and look for undrafted, unsigned guys to bring over.
Will NOT sign prospects that other teams did not sign, if they were drafted earlier than the 5th round.
Waiver guys...will just pick them up, and let you know.

STAFF-Will only hire AGM and one coach (assist or head) per season I am GM of the team.
Scouts--will only hire 1 new scout per season.

Using the last 5 NHL seasons here are the total points and number of playoff appearances for each team in the running, as well as any Cups they have won in entire history of EHM in this game. Also their best players and reputation, as well as where they are drafting in 2019.

Pittsburgh—407 points, 2 playoff appearances, one 100 pt season, no cups in EHM year (last and only GM fired 2019)
Best players-Sid Crosby 31 year old star, Robin Charbonneau 25 year old star, Kris Letang 32 year old star.
2019 Draft picks-own all their own picks, none of anyone else. Finished 30th overall, so chance at the 1st overall pick (lottery not yet done)

New Jersey 388 points-5 seasons-2 playoff appearances, No cups in any EHM year (last GM fired –never Lou retired 2010, and same GM since then)
2019 picks-have only their own, missing their 3rd round pick. Finished 29th overall, chance at #1 pick.
Best players-Michael Granlund 27 Oliver Ekman-Larsson 28, Tuomo Ruutu (aging36) all rated Superb.

NY Islanders 397 points, 1 playoff appearance, Stanley Cup 2012, runner up 2009 (last GM Fired 2019)
Best players-Keith Yandle(32), Marian Gaborik (37), Cory Schneider(33) ALL RATED STARS
2019 draft-all their own picks, plus Columbus 2nd (CBJ finish 8th overall) , Anaheim 3rd (Ana finish 26th overall)and Tampa 4th (finished 15th overall)

Boston Bruins 391 points, 2 playoff appearances, No cup appearances in EHM years. (last GM fired 2011)
Best players- Hedman (28), Pietrangelo 29, Raanta (22) all rated SUPERB
2019 draft-finished 25th overall, no chance at #1 pick….have all their own except 3rd rounder.

Florida Panthers 409 points, 1 playoff appearance (none in last 4 years), No cup appearances in EHM years. Last GM change-March 2019, hired Shero who had been fired by Pitt 2 months earlier.
Best players-Galchenyuk (24), Blake Clarke (23 6’9), Nathan Horton (34), Steve Mason (31)
2019 draft- Finished 24th overall-only own picks, missing their 5th.

Washington Capitals-396 points,1 playoff appearance (none last 4 years), Won Stanley cup and presidents trophy in 2008. George McPhee is still the GM.
Best players- Ovechkin (33), Backstrom (31) both stars, Green (31), Varlamov (31) both superb
2019 draft-finished 19th overall. do not have their own 3rd or 5th. have Carolin 4th, LA and Florida 5th. Have their own 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th

Philadelphia Flyers-387 points, 0 playoff appearances in last 5 years (in fact only 2 playoff appearances in entire EHM history, and none in the last 8 years), Hired their 5th GM in the game in the last 9 years in January 2019. (Have also had 8 coaches in EHM history)
Drew Doughty (29), Jeff Carter (34), Nikita Zadorov (23) Doughty and Carter stars, Zadorov superb.
2019 draft-finished 17th overall, have Philly 1st, 2nd, 3rd, no fourth, Carolina 5th, Flyer 7th. No 6th round pick.

So folks those are the candidates.
Have your say, I am taking 1 week off from the game, and you can decide who I take over. It is the 2019 draft coming up…..I will be going in blind (IE no scout reports but I do have my own knowledge having been the GM of the Canucks--not that I remember much.

I will either do a blog on this rebuild, or I will continue to post in here. Let me know who I should be the boss of.

Gee thanks Animal. I was hoping for some actual advice. :)

If I could do an expansion team I would. I know I could do fantasy but that has been done in our tbl challenges so I wanted to try something a little different. I hope a few guys get on board. I would like to blog it with pictures and screen shots but to take that amount of time I would want a few responses to my choices.

If you have questions about rosters past top players let me know.

In addition to who they've already got for stars, it looks like the Caps and Pens also have the best prospects. It's also looking like the Devils have got a really good goaltender working his way up.

Yeah, I knew for sure no one would vote for Pitt or Washington. In fact I was hoping they would not. I would likely win the first year or two with either of them.

I know ... I saw that name scouting for the draft, and then that he was a goalie and then cracked up completely. Also have found a Rich Sutter and someone else I cannot recall now what it was, but a total repeat name.

More info...coaching. One coach from each team. Boston and Florida do not have head coaches. GM is acting as head coach, so the coach here is the best assistant they have.

Penguins Steve Richmond

Kevin Constantine-Assist Florida

Derick Mackie NYi

Mike Babcock-NJ

Wiliam Laurie Philly

Loic Labelle washington

Doug Houda Assist Boston

Here you are...introducing the coaches. Some real interesting names in there. AI does some funny stuff.

Edit: Ok that did not work the way I thought it would. Links are now redone, and should be able to see all 7 dudes now.

Before I do the Devil first line....thought I would list a few "interesting" names on these teams. As an FYI these guys are NOT as good in many cases as they are in real life. I will write beside the name and team if they are.

Viacheslav Voinov-29-NY Islanders
-High salary, but low ratings (avg)...decent attributes. 5'11 size is problem.
Toni Rajala-28-Pittsburgh -scoring 25 plus every year. All attributes that matter, save strength and hitting are at least yellow.
Steve Mason-31-Florida-just an average starting goalie through his career.
Teemu Pulkinnen-27-New Jersey-scoring RW, and he is scoring just fine.Had first 30 goal season last year, and never over 20 before then. Has played 6 full seasons in NJ.
Brendan Gallagher-27 Boston. 5 mill per year. 6'0 in game and not very fast or strong. 5 full seasons in Boston. scoring 18, 24,25,24 and 15 goals. Avg rating in NHL 7.3
Adam Larsson-26-Philadelphia-6'5 213 in game. average skater, very strong. great vision on ice.7 full seasons in Philly and avg NHL rating is 7.87. Lots of D on this team with Doughty and Zadorov as well.
Brett Connolly-27=Washington. 5 full seasons in Washington after being dealt out of NJ. 13,12.25,21,25 goals by year. 7.3 avg NHL rating.

Ok so all those guys are decent. :-D

New Jersey potential top line.

Jonathon Drouin-6'2 213 23 6.35 exp 20-21 RFA- Michael Granlund 6'0 205 27 4.41 exp 20-21 UFA- ABSOLUTELY NO ONE CAPABLE**

Ruutu and TEemu Pulkinnen are both expiring contracts at end of June and both are UFA. Not sure if could get resigned. Would have to try and resign one of them (Pulkinnen most likely)

Ekmann-Larsson-
6'1 213 27 4.84 exp 19-20 UFA - Matt Carle 6'0 200 4.18 exp 19-20 UFA

Sami Aittokallio-6'4 198 26 3.05 exp 19-20 UFA (regen who is average starter)

UUDB so the heights weights of younger guys that were put in under draft/regen age are all very odd. I am not looking but I believe Stamkos or someone like him is 6'7

Islanders potential top line

Jaden Schwartz 6'2 213 26 3.16 exp 19-20 - Malcolm Porter 6'1 200 23 1.0 exp 19-20- Marian Gaborik 6'1 196 37 5.7 exp 19-20

Keith Yandle 6'2 205 32 5.95 exp 20-21 - Viacheslav Voinov 5'11 187 29 4.48 exp 20-21

Cory Schneider6'2 194 5.84 exp 20-21

Also should note..the Islanders have Connor McDavid, who is looking super studly at 6'6 and will likely be the rookie of the year for this past season (have not got to awards yet). THey also have Peter Mueller at C who was injured for some time last year.

Based on my testing/research, anyone who starts younger than 14 will have excessive height/weight (because EHM wasn't created with such young players in mind).

My testing/research focused on such younger players, and all efforts to start with a low enough height/weight resulted in giants (I also tried "0" but that still resulted in 7+ feet tall 300+ pound players).

The only work-around solution I can figure is a using the EHM Updater Saved Game Editor to import reasonable player heights/weights for the really young; doing this when players reach age 14 should work to avoid the giants (ideally I want to "someday" add to the 1974 database the "required updates" so that all a user would have to do is apply the already created updates...seems like the UUDB and the 1998 database could use them too)
