EHM The Blue Line

Why can't I change my team's tactics during a game whenever I please!?! Maybe I just need to change a setting or maybe my game's buggy but I don't think so. Would it be that difficult to pause the game when I click the button, even in the middle of the action? Or even go to tactics at the whistle immediately following clicking the tab? Coaches don't wait for a penalty to be called or a goal to be scored to manage their bench and it really bothers me that I have to....what happens when I want to put out my best faceoff man for a key draw in my zone but he's on the fourth line and I'm behind so the first comes out or I want my fourth line center for the draw but to keep my first line wingers out, etc, etc, etc? I'm tired of trying to put on a defensive clamp late in the game and only getting the screen I want AFTER the other team has tied because I'm still on overload. Sorry to whine but it's something that's plagued me ever since I first started playing and I'm not looking forward to losing another playoff game because I can't make adjustments when the time is right.

You can somewhat lessen the lag-time by changing your play by play speed/clock to slow but it's not an instantaneous thing in an situation and it seems to "catch" not in relation with current game events And yeah, it is not, in general, the most refined portion of EHM's gameplay unfortuantely.

I justify it in my mind that it's more of a GM Sim game than a coaching Sim game. But it also frustrates me when I want to pull my goalie for the extra attacker in the last minute only to have the game end on me.

I think it has to do with the way the games are simmed. It actually is calculating events ahead of what you are actually seeing, so when you click on the Tactics button it pops up when the game comes to a processing break. Often times it's later than you would like.

I'm sure it's on the list of things to improve on the next version.

I usually try to make any adjustments before the 3rd period starts or near the 10-minute mark. Anything later and there is no guarentee, but it wont stop me from trying. I do hate how sometimes you wont be able to pull the goalie in the last few minutes, but i realise that this tactic doesn't have a high success rate to begin with.

Really, the best you can hope for is pressing pause game then home or away tactics then resuming the game. If you're lucky you'll go to the tactics page after the next stoppage in play.
