Is anyone got news about EHM07? I've heard the release date might be around the start of the next season, but what about a playable demo version? :-? And do you now what might/will be implemented in it?

Wow, after checking out the OOTP Baseball, I've gotta say my expectation for EHM 07 has raised significantly. I mean, if the first version of a baseball game from SI looks this good than they better make the 3rd installment for hockey very impressive!

We're covered under Non-disclosure Agreements during the external testing so even if I do know about new additions/changes I can't say ;) But I think it's safe to say people will be pleased just from the very early-on details I know graphically from emails with Graeme and a very very early alpha screenshot I received months ago when the screens/graphics weren't even completed/compiled/connected yet.

The OOTP 'upgrade' is similar in stature to the one that EHM took between the first SI version and EHM 2005 (which without a name change became 2006 technically when they updated to include the 'New NHL' details, which is why this version is 2007...). OOTP had a season and a half plus worth of development time while EHM 2007 began after the last 2005 patch was released. So while 2007 won't be another new genesis as 2004->2005 and OOTP freeware -> OOTP SI were I know it will be a very nice step up on the evolutionary chain with refreshed graphics, additional features/refinements, and not to mention a worldwide database update of course. I can't wait to see the completed final product either!

SI is good about releasing screenshots and details as development progresses so I'm sure we'll see something official soon.

Thanks a lot for all those details Minty ;) i'm getting more and more impatient to see how good EHM07 will be,even if i still have a lot of fun with the 2005 version.

I know you now nothing anyway ;) Should be great though-transferring all the graphical data from EHM 2005 will be the biggest bit of work to do on it. If Devils 88 and Minty keep flexing their editorial muscle though there shouldn't be any probs

Imagine if TBL expanded into covering OOTP and other American sports sims such as, say, Bowl Bound College Football for example...I still cannot forgive susie for their abomination in handling the FM updates. Largest collection anywhere of amazing quality and no all but gone...It's like having a museum of fine art and leaving the door unlocked at night.....

We will continue to do what we do best and run the best darn EHM site evar; I think the "We're too big now to not cover the other SI games too" was a tactical mis-step on Susie's part; it will only work if you have people that know the game and can create content otherwise you see what happens. :dunno: It really is amazing though that with all that content nobody ever thought to burn it all to a DVD at least occassionally. The same mistakes are not being made here I can assure you of that

Oh, and believe me... I know things 'bout 2007 and I can say the logo makers will be very happy as well as busy upon it's release :-D

I thought you weren't allowed to talk about the next EHM...? :-p

When will you be (an approximative date...) allowed to talk about EHM07? :-?

I think we're all waiting to know what it will be... Will there be a real 2D engine? More playable leagues? The europeans continental cups?

Long live EHM! :-D

It's possible that we'll see more playable leagues, as well as more tournaments (hopefully a rubbish load of both)... but I am about 99% sure that there will be no 2D match engine. They've had too little time to get one of those up and running, especially running properly.

Although, as a general tip to all... the best way to wait for something is to not wait for it. That worked really well for me with EHM 2005... I was stuck on my huge career I had going in EHM 2004, and then all of a sudden the EHM 2005 demos came, which carried me to the release.

There had better be a 2d match engine. I will be pretty peed off if there isn't tbh, because with the exception of new playable leagues there wouldn't be enough changes for me to warrant a purchase otherwise.

I don't think there will be, they've regularly said that it is very difficult to incorporate it.
The current engine is basically a version of the old text-only engine, just on steroids, with the added element of the "tactical board" that gives you insight on the rough player positioning on the ice.

To get into a full 2D in a similar way as FM, it would require the whole engine to be re-built from the ground up. And even then, we'd never be able to catch 100% realism with the first iteration and would need to finetune and improve and add to the AI and the engine over the years/versions, like FM has been doing.
From Riz on the SI boards, sounds like it's gonna take some time for a full 2d match engine

This game is still young,so it won't be a too big problem if there's no 2D game engine in the next version, but i hope we'll soon have one, because it will add a lot to the game,i think...

But i prefer wait 1 or 2 years and have a really good 2D match engine than having one at once who's pityfull! :-k

New playable leagues would be a sympathic add,but not an outstanding one actually...

I'd like to see a more detailled training program, more tactics, many more interactions with the medias, and more interactions with the players/staff. I think those 4 points will add enough depth to the game to help us wait for a 2D match engine,as the current "engine" is,according to me,good enough to see what happens in the matches.

Futhermore,i think that those 4 points will be more easy to implement at once. New playable leagues mean a lot of money to obtain the rights, and 2D engine need a lot of time,so it should wait a little. No? :-k

This is exactly where they need to focus their energy. I could care less about the 2-D engine. It's not even a factor in the way I play the game. Tactic and training really need the most work. Those two areas have been lacking since the game first came out and they haven't really been improved upon yet. The interactions would be nice but these two would make the game so much better.

I know I'll be getting the next version (I love management sims too much to not get it), but to go along with what you said... I'm kind of wondering what they could be adding/changing to make the game worth another $40 to $50 in a lot of peoples' minds. They could add more leagues and int'l tournaments, but are there any left that are big enough for most people to care? Other than that, they could always beef up the current features like tactics, practice, news, etc., which I really hope happens, but even those don't sound like they would get too many people really excited.

An other good thing may be the possibility to have a real staff when you're the GM of an international team, with coaches, maybe scouts,a specific training program, and so on... Making it a real sim of managing international teams!
