Why do certain players always get bad ratings?

To give a couple of examples, Maxime Talbot, Wayne Simmonds and Brandon Sutter seem to constantly get bad match ratings, even though attribute wise they look pretty good. Are their mentals that bad, or is it something else?

It's probably because they are "small" players. They get poorer ratings usually than bigger guys. Something we can't do anything about.

If you see a small player with good rating, then he's really good!!

None of my examples are that small, actually Simmonds and Sutter are pretty tall (and of average weight).

I got the same problem with Burrows, Talbot and Gallagher on the NHL and with some great players in the CHL. I just can't understand how a player with such a great attributes on CHL (over average than the others) can have a sequence of games with 5 as a rate?
