Just a quick question, if I buy the early access does this include the full game upon release or no?

In youtube there's a few already.

Looked like Football Manager fans who didn't really understand hockey but liked the game. :-D

They should be thankful that "we" released a database today for the game. I'm sure it helps with the sales a lot. Looking at a game with just fake names isn't so attractive.

That's awesome, I was buying it anyway but nice to know.

Also another quick one, how do I get the new database into the game?! When I go to load an EHM 2007 database into it (via menu screen) I don't get an option to select a database or anything. I also can't find the default install path of the game (I've never actually used steam before so I'm just kinda fumbling around my program files. LOLOL)

Oh, nevermind found the install path in the steam folders, and realized I don't have to click 'import EHM 2007 database' but infact just 'new game' and then select the new TBL rosters.

I made that alot more complicated than it should've been. LOL

And I assume I can use the logo/face packs for EHM 2007 in this?

Not sure where else to put this so I will ask here.

I have never used Steam as I have reservations about using anything regarding DRM. I prefer to play games on my computer that never require an internet connection. This release of the new EHM has possibly changed my mind as 2007 is the only game I have played consistently for 8 years now.

Can anyone explain how Steam works and what the pros/cons are in using it? What happens to my games if I stop using Steam or it goes away? Are there any plans for EHM: EA to be sold stand alone like previous versions?

Thanks in advance for the answers. I am having a hard time NOT buying this game right now but want to know more about Steam before I do so.

I was in the same boat as you but my son bought me Civ 5 cd version for Xmas and if I wanted to play I had to use steam so I gritted my teeth and signed up. So far I have no complaints though I maybe would be a bit miffed if I was travelling with no internet or if the internet was down for me for any amount of time. So far it's worked great for Civ and today EHM was the first game I actually purchased on steam and had it up and running in minutes. I'm pretty ok with it I would say.

I can tell you one thing, Steam won't go away in many many years if ever...

You can start steam in offline mode aswell so you don't need an internet connection once everything is installed and ready...

So you need an internet connection to play games on Steam? I understand you need it to download the games initially, but can you play after that in an "offline mode"?

Thanks for the response, I just asked this in another post. What about your games? Do you lose them if you stop using Steam?

You don't really stop using steam per say when you buy games off of it. When you buy a game off steam and play it, it will connect to steam before opening. The beauty thing with steam is if you have more than 1 laptop, you can install steam on all of them and play all your games on as many computers you want. Definately the way to go!

Steam as nothing to do with DRM. The interface is somewhat like an Itunes for games instead of mp3. There shouldn`t be anything that will annoy you with Steam. Like djsatu said, you can then install steam on other computers and play them after you re download games ! No need to be online to play. Not sure what you mean by loosing the games but no you would never loose your games ever. Unlike the Origin`s software (for EA digital game), steam is something PC gamers wants to install on their PC !

Steam is really just a glorified app store. You only need an internet connection when you first download the game and in order to download updates.

It's a heck of a lot better than the eLicence system we had for EHM 2007. We were completely at their mercy when it came to reinstalling the game or if you forgot your licence code. Also, seeing as the game was no longer on sale. Steam is a far, far bigger organisation and I don't think there is the same risk there - also the game will always be on sale.

There is a useful guide about Offline Mode on Steam here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -agcb-2555

The most important parts are:
What is Offline Mode?
Offline Mode allows you to play games through Steam without reconnecting to the Steam Network every time you wish to play - this is particularly useful if you do not plan on playing over the internet and would prefer not to download new updates for your single-player games.
Please note that you must connect to the Steam Network and test each of the games you would like to use in Offline Mode at least once to set up your account and configure Offline Mode on your machine.

Using Offline Mode on a PC.
Please follow the instructions below to configure Offline Mode on your PC:

1. Start Steam online - make sure the Remember my password box on the login window is checked
2. Verify that all game files are completely updated - you can see the update status for a game under the Library section (when the game shows as 100% - Ready it is ready to be played in Offline Mode)
3. Launch the game you would like to play offline to verify that there are no further updates to download - shut down the game and return to Steam once you have confirmed that the game can be played
4. Go to Steam > Settings to ensure the Don't save account credentials on this computer option is not selected
5. From the main Steam window, go to the Steam menu and select Go Offline
6. Click Restart in Offline Mode to restart Steam in Offline Mode

Nice reviews :D

Its sad that the game is not getting the purchases it deserves... still not in the top sellers on Steam and not even in the Top 100 played/currently playing list and that goes down to like 1000 players.....

Not sure if there is an update on the stats at any point, but hopefully we can see bigger numbers as 1000 = what, 8-10K English.

I think it's a niche game. I don't see it'll ever get the sorts of numbers as Football Manager, etc.

On the positive side, it looks like it is 3rd in list of top Early Access sellers.

I'm glad you mentioned that! I was paid two days ago but, in all of the excitement, I've forgotten to pay my bills! :-D Luckily I don't have to do it until Monday, but all of this excitement has distracted me!

To be honest, I wouldn't read too much into the numbers at this point. Like Archi said, EHM is quite a niche game, even outside of Steam. Also, don't forget how suddenly this all happened. Literally just a couple days ago, none of us had any idea that anything was happening with EHM. Hints first started being put together on the 25th, and then on the 26th the announcement was made and the game released.

With that being said, though, I checked at one point yesterday afternoon, and EHM was at about 500 players in-game. With a little bit more time for word to get around and people to make decisions, 1,000+ probably isn't out of the question.

Fingers crossed

Its the pessimistic side of me that gets me thinking negative thoughts... you see some games come out 30 quid a pop and get loads of sales and dont deserve the attention. Yet this, an absolute steal at 8-10 quid and I mean even if you are a casual Hockey fan, theres plenty there to make it fun and I just hope word spreads and we get to see at least one more iteration from these guys.

Anyway, back to Detroit... 3-3-0 theres work to be done :help:
