EHM07 download

I won't discuss about if it's a right or a wrong thing,it's useless.

But,as i never used this system to get a game,i don't really know what i'll have exactly to do to get EHM07,and what are the main mistakes to avoid... And i think i'm not alone in this case...

I've read the SI forums about the download, and it seems that credit card won't be the only way to purchase the game. Good new,as i haven't got any credit card.

It also seem that we'll be able to "burn" the game on a cd,with all the licenses,so there's far less risks to loose our game and have to repay for it. Good new too.

There will be 2 licenses,so we'll be able to re-install the game as many times as we'll (eventually) need. Good.

But...hem...how does it works exactly? And how will we know what to do to purchase the game with cheque, for example?

As the screenshots look pretty good, i WANT this game!!! But i'm a bit ignorant about downloading a game (legally speaking ;) ). Anyone should help me? :-? (and certainly many other users...)

I don't know how to get about doing it without a credit card, but I purchased 2005 via DD this past year and it was quite easy.

Just download the try and buy, put in your purchase info, and you have yourself a game!

I hang around the SI forums quite a bit, and people who download the game show up with problems every day. Personally, I think not make the game available in a box format isn't helping the game get mainstream.

I agree with you,but i hope we're both wrong...

However,complaining won't change anything for this year's version,so... :dunno:

And it might also be just a bad joke,as they've done when they let us understand that there will be NO 2D engine and NO fantasy draft... They seem to love joking with us :-D

However,i don't really care about a box version,as i haven't seen any of them in France, and had to deal with a Canadian friend to have a copy of EHM05.

The download version for this year will be very different from the legendarily nightmarish Softwrap version that haunted the initial EHM release. Totally different company, process, etc. so the comparisons that should be made are to the system used for OOTP's recent release not to the Softwrap version of years ago. I think people are being overly dramatic and unnecessarily critical without any proof that DD = nothing but problems...

And as I said in the release thread any technical questions I feel have been answered in the SI Forums and such comments are better made there ass they know the answers not us.

Personnaly i'm a bit anxious about downloading... But it's mainly because i've never used this process...

However,SI seem to have done a lot of effort to have a good downloading system and propose flexible ways to pay,so i stay hopefull :-)

I'm just getting more and more impatient as we're getting closer and closer of a release...

It will be christmas in september! :joy:

Was the download version that bad this year? I had got that for the first release and it was a nightmare. The last version I ordered an import version from some game company online and got it shortly after the European release. I thought I had read that people who got the digital download version this last time around didn't have the problems that we had the year before.

I do like how it comes with 2 licenses. I mostly play at work (it's very slow here) but I'd like to play at home sometimes too. With the disc version I never play at home because I have to remember to take the disc out and bring it home. Not only that but I have to remember to bring it back to work. This way I can run it both at home and work.

A couple years back I downloaded "The College Years", a college football management game put out by Solastic I believe and the process worked smoothly. Only question is I am close to needing a new computer, will I be able to transfer the game to the new system with this format? I don't believe I will be able to transfer the College Years so I hope I can transfer the EHM07. Anyone know?

yes, basically you can activate and deactivate your 2 codes, what you will be able to do is install on your current computer with one code. When you get a new computer you will be able to install it on that with the other code you get when you pay. You can deactivate the first code if you are not going to use that computer again or you can leave it how it is.

I've bought software that uses "e-license" in the past. I had no problems and it was very easy to use. I think this go around is going to be a lot better than it has in the past. Sure, Softwrap was terrible but that doesn't mean all digital download stuff is.

Thanks Calv that's great news, I was worried a bit about that. So when you deactivate the first code do you get another? In essence can you have two installs working at all times no matter how many times you switch computers? Or would you have to purchase additional codes?

I'm not looking for a loop hole just curious because I know I'll burn one code up almost right off the bat. I'll probably be buying that new computer next Christmas and I will not wait that long to install!

I think you get given 2 codes when you first purchase the game, so you can have 2 installs from the beginning with out paying any more

They said you could for example have a work copy and home copy and deactivate your home copy bring it to a friends to play deactivate when done at your buddies and then come back home, activate on your 'puter again and pick right back up with your home game. So it really is quite cool in that way.

I downloaded EHM 2005 with no problems at all and have downloaded several other games with no problems either. It's safe, easy, and works pretty well. Digital downloads of games is the future of retail game distribution at least for the PC and Xbox Live and I think early versions (like the first version of Steam) had some serious problems as they worked out the kinks. But for the most part now, even Steam is a really pain-free way to buy games and I love not having to wait for a package in the mail or having to go to a store to buy something.

The tremendous upside to digital downloads is that independant game developers don't need approval or money or help from the giant distributors in order to sell their games which can drive down production costs and increase creativity and innovation. This is a good thing for everyone.

I agree with noctambulist here!!! Direct downloads is the future of PC games and they will make them probably also a bit cheaper because there arent any "man in the middle" who distribute the game and so on....

As long as I can remember I never bought a game that way and its also new to me, but I think its a lot safer than how I got my EHM2005 copy, because (like my french friend Shadd666) I had to deal with friends over the big sea to get a copy of it or I had to buy it on e-bay and not always with good results!!

As far as I have read I will buy and download it as soon as it comes out, burn it on a CD and let a download on my PC to play it.

Cant wait for september 22nd!!!

As far as other games concerned, I just took a look at the new NHL2007 from EA Sports and they also will have direct downloads for nearly all games who come out in the next future!!

One month and two day until EHM07.....and counting.... 8-)

I am a little dissapointed that there won't be a boxed version of this because if I was to buy this it would cost me alot more. As I would wan't it so I could play it on both a Mac and Windows. But I come to understand I would have to buy two copies to be able to play both which i really can not afford.

Will get the game though at some point when I can afford.

mark_htfc: can't help you a lot on that one,but talk about this on the SI's forums...maybe a solution exists... :dunno:

Can't help you more...

Lol! Can't tell you... But it would be a bit stupid if there's no solution to your problem (except if it's due to technical tips...i'm not an expert however...)

Strongly hope you won't have to pay twice to have the same game...

I'm sure they could work something out, like one Mac license, one PC license. As opposed to the two licenses you would get with a regular purchase. SI is top of the line when it comes to customer support.
