How often must I import the EHM 2007 Database into EHM 1?

Not sure where to ask this question, but I don't think a new thread is needed. Archi wrote in a locked thread :
"Please note that we have removed the EHM:EA format database as the new version of the game requires a newly imported database. Rather than recreating a new format database potentially every fortnight, we will simply host an EHM 2007 format database so that you can re-import the database as and when required."
I'm not sure I understand, does it mean I have to download the EHM 2007 format database since the 15.1.0b update? Or can I still play with the EHM:EA format database, despite today's update?
Sorry if this is a silly question, but I'm confused.

Good question! I have split this into its own thread because I suspect the question will come up regularly.
The release notes for the EHM Patch states that some of the changes only take effect if you re-import the database. So for this reason, you should download a copy of the EHM 2007 format database and use the Import function to import it into EHM:EA. This will ensure that any new games will benefit from all of the patch changes.
We'll just have to see what the release notes say for each patch, but I wouldn't be surprised if having to re-import the EHM 2007 format DB will become a common requirement.

Thanks for the answer, it clearer for me now. I'm going to download the EHM07 format db then !

I am still confused when I see this :
Database Import changes for 2014 rules:
[apply to new games started with newly imported databases only]
1- Besides new games, what is a newly imported database ? What do I need to do to have a newly imported database and what does it consist of ?
2- In EHM:EA, I am confused at the start menu screen. You can start a new career game, where you then need to select a database. Before that there is also an option to Import an EHM 2007 format database. In which circumstances one would choose to import an EHM 2007 format database ? What does that do ? Because you can load the TBL Rosters when starting a new game. What difference is there between the database you import using the Import an EHM 2007 format database and the TBL Roster database you select in the other menu (New Career Game).
3- Referring to the above 15.1.0b changelist, do the Gameplay changes:, UI changes:, Other changes:, In-Game Engine v67 only apply to new games with new imported database or are those changes applies as well to saved games started before the update.
Thanks !

kev90 wrote:Other than new games, what is a newly imported database ?
The database is the file you download from our site. It contains all of the roster data, clubs, leagues, etc etc. When you start a new game, it uses the data from your chosen database. So you'll have all of those rosters, etc from the database in your saved game.
At the moment there are no editors for the EHM:EA databases. But there are editors for the EHM 2007 databases. So we are still developing our databases using the EHM 2007 format. The EHM 2007 isn't compatible with EHM:EA and so instead EHM:EA has an Import Database function which will take the EHM 2007 database and convert it to the EHM:EA format.
kev90 wrote:What do I need to do to have a newly imported database and what does it consist of ?
You need to download the EHM 2007 version of your chosen roster update (such as the
TBL v7.3 Rosters).
Follows steps #2 and #3 from this guide on how to install the EHM 2007 database and import/convert it into EHM:EA:
http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/wiki/inde ... nto_EHM:EA
kev90 wrote:In EHM:EA, I am confused at the start menu screen. You can start a new career game, where you then need to select a database. As mentioned above, you must convert the EHM 2007 database to the EHM:EA database format. If you follow steps #2 and #3 from the guide I linked to above, you will see that you will have used the Import button to convert/import the rosters.
Once the rosters have been imported/converted, you will find them in the list of databases when you start a new career game.
kev90 wrote:Finally, referring to the above 15.1.0b changelist, do the Gameplay changes:, UI changes:, Other changes:, In-Game Engine v67 only apply to new games with new imported database or are those changes applies as well to saved games started before the update.
No. As you have said yourself, the changes apply to new games with a newly imported database.

I believe I understand what got me all mixed up. Is it possible that shortly after game release at the end of March you had the TBL Rosters downloadable in the already converted format for EHM EA ? Cause all I did was drop the folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Eastside Hockey Manager\data\database and I started a new game and selected the TBL Rosters. Basically if I take the TBL Rosters in 2007 Format I have to first import them before starting a new game, if I drop them in the game folder it won't recognize it ?
I uploaded my previously saved game just to see and the UI changes were definitely in effect. So I think that maybe just the part that says :
Database Import changes for 2014 rules:
[apply to new games started with newly imported databases only]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Changed various relegation stage stats type to playouts

- Adjusted expected wages in Russian league
- Adjusted expected wages in Finnish leagues
would come in effect if a new game is started. What follows doesn't seem to require a new game (i.e. Gameplay changes:, UI changes:, Other changes:, In-Game Engine v67)

Yes, that's exactly why we removed the original EHM:EA format version of our roster update:
archibalduk wrote:Please note that we have removed the EHM:EA format database as the new version of the game requires a newly imported database. After first simulation I see diferences for example in KHL. After import data there are much bigger salaries before I loaded EHM:EA version of TBL Update. So I think import is needed

New update + TBL Rosters = problem? [Re-import = solution]

So with the new update and new playable leagues... I seem to only be able to select them from the league select screen if I use the default fake database? They aren't showing with using TBL rosters?

Anyone else experience this?

I have the same problem. Don´t know what to do, and would love to star to play with my favourite team from Finnish League 3.

Download the TBL Rosters v7.3 (EHM 2007 format) and follow the instructions included with the readme file.

No, the database only applies to newly created saved games.

Doesn't work for me. I know i placed the Rosters in the right place but when i click on import database there is no option to choose from.
This is exaclty what it looks like:
Please select a database to import.
Database
Location Application Folder
And i can't click on anything...

it is likely 1 of 2 reasons for this:
1. You don't have the EHM 2007 format DB;
2. The DB is in the wrong folder (eg too many layers of sub folders). The structure should look like this:

Hio Archi,
Am I able to use updated database with new playable leagues in EHM EA as well???
When I start new game with 15.2 version no new leagues inside.
Thanks

This confused the hell out of me. I think i got it though. I had TBL rosters v7.3 that i downloaded weeks ago and i could start a new game with no issues but to make sure that i get all the new updates in the new patch i'm to go download the TBL rosters 2007 file then put it in the database folder, then go into the EHM main screen and click Import database which will format it to EHM:EA format? That's what i did and i just want to make sure i did it right. For future reference i should do this every time there are new patches to make sure all the changes occur?

Yep, you got that right. It's pretty confusing at the beginning haha, but I re-imported the TBL rosters 2007 after the last updates, and everything was fine. Not sure if it works on saved games however, I started a new game to be sure.

Yep that's it.

Though the reimported DB has now effect on existing saved games.
Personally, I just keep the original EHM 2007 format DB in my database folder and then just reimport the DB as an when needed (I delete the database.db file first however).
