TBL Community Map - Show us where you live!

Introducing a new site feature: The TBL Community Map (Powered by Google)

TBL has a truly worldwide following and so the TBL Admin Team thought it would be a great idea for users to show the Community where they are from. By going to the TBL Community Map Page you can add a flag to the map to show where you are from. To go to the Map Page, click on the Image icon in the black navigation bar at the top of the screen (you must be logged into your TBL account in order to see the button).

Simply follow these instructions to add your flag to the map:

You can navigate the world just like on Google Maps by clicking and dragging on the map or by using the navigation controls in the top left corner of the map.

It is also possible to navigate by clicking on "View" from the Mode Menu (located top right). Then click on "Search" just below the Menu. It is then possible to search for a place name or a post code using the Online Place Search. Under the section labelled "Online Place Search" select either the "Worldwide locations" (to search for a place name) or "Postal Codes" (to search for a postal code) and then enter you search text below and click on the Search button. I found with British post codes that it works best if you just search for the first half of you post code, e.g. if your post code is W10 1AB then just search for W10. Clicking on the place names in the results list will centre the map on that location.

To add your location to the server, navigate to your location using one (or both) of the methods above. Then select "Edit" from the Mode Menu. Click on an area of the map to place your flag. You can move the flag around by clicking on another part of the map. Alternatively: Under the section labelled "Choose Location" click on the Center button. This will place a flag in centre of the map currently viewed. If the flag is in the wrong place, move the map and then click on the Center button again. Keep doing this until the flag is in the correct position.

Once the flag is in the correct position, enter your TBL username* in the Name box located in the "Choose Location" section. To save your location, click on the Add button located near the bottom right of the screen.

* Please only use your TBL username so that other users can identify you.

Why not let the Community know in this thread when you have added yourself to the map! If you have any difficulties using the Map feel free to ask for help.

I got mine right on the roof of my house :joy:

P.S. If you zoom in real close to mine in satellite mode, you can see the white rectangular area of concrete (in the back parking lot of that shopping center) where we all used to play hockey. It was perfect - The concrete was extremely smooth, and the building has a nice brick wall to put the net against. No cars, no chasing the ball if it missed the net...

Yup, mine is right on the roof of my apartment too. If you wanna catch a game stop by any night of NHL season and that's what will be on 8-) As you can see you can hop the train from downtown Chicago and it lets you off like two blocks from my place.

I didn't go exact. I just went to the closest cross street to where I'm moving next month.

It's nice to see new flags appearing on the map. Hopefully we can get most of our regular users on there 8-)

I put my flag on the park by my house.

I tried to fix my and put my marker closer. I ended up with 2 markers. Is there a way to delete one?

While in edit mode, click on the flag you want to delete. Then I think at the bottom of the screen(where the add button was when you added them) there should be a delete button.

Thanks, I missed that button. Not to be a complainer but the interface for this thing is not very user-friendly.

It is a little complicated to navigate but I think it's pretty straightforward to add a flag once you've read my instructions. If anyone has any problems then I'm happy to sort them out. It's just that B. Stinson had already helped you out :)

Yep, but in an outer district.....there are some trees and good air :-p ....at my age there's no desperate need to live in the inner city anymore. ;)

Dark winters and bright summers. Well it´s a good town to play hockey..
Mikael Renberg, Mattias Öhlund and Tomas Holmström are all from Piteå. Must be something with the darkness

You're trying to install the GP Map Mod? If so, you need to have a forum running phpbb. Installation is incredibly simple compared to other phpbb mods.

When you click on the Community Map button it should show a page with a map on which you add your location. Can you not see the map? If so, check to see that Java Script is enabled. If you have trouble adding yourself to the map, tell me your location and I can do it for you :)

Wow you live right next to the city centre where the city hall is 8-) I once visited Toulouse because I stayed for three weeks in Albi (it was a school exchange). Have you ever been to the castle in Carcassonne? It is absolutely amazing!
