A rookie's road to glory - Q's regarding McDavid, tactis etc

Hi there,

I am one of the many new ones to this splendid forum and I am seeking a bit of help as my knowledge about the inner workings of EHM and hocky in general is quite limited.

My first question is how you make best use of your prospects. I managed to get Connor McDavid via a trade (gave away Nick Foligno and a 1st round pick in 2017 - not sure if the trade was any good?), but he has made a terrible start to NHL - 5 matches and AvR below 6. I have him on 4th line. What would you guys do? It seems like I am unable to move him to AHL unless he goes via the Waiver and I assume that it is too dangerou as he might be picked up by others.

Also, I have a limited tactical understanding of hockey, thus at the moment following the following guide very strictly:
http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/wiki/inde ... 2007_Guide
so currently giving each line seperate instructions and all that, but I am wondering how each tactical settings effect each other. I am well aware of the fact that there are many different ways of cracking the code, but I assume that there are still some golden rules as to how set up the tactical side of things. For example, in Football Manager (yes, I came across EHM via SI/FM) it is generally not a good idea to have short passing linked with high tempo etc. So I am after a bit general knowledge about the tactical coherence aspect of it and would also greatly appreciate if there are any other guides or informative threads out there!

Finally, how do I fill out my AHL team with players that dont effect my salary cap? :-)

Best regards,
Saviola

Hi Saviola

Welcome. Have a look around the site. Although alot of threads are titled EHM 2007, and EHM EA....the information in those threads is golden for the new game as well, as it has not changed much.

Use of prospects--check the prospect thread ...and others...it varies from player to player what is best as per real life.

Tactical stuff is in the tactics thread, and yeah they work together, so yes they will affect. How they affect depends on each individual player and tactic in use. Just like it would in real life. It is a learning curve, but one that is easily overcome by lots of people who know NOTHING about hockey. I mean Nino, archi, B72, philou, and Peter Doherty as well as alessandro have it all figured out. Well most of them do...one may not. :-D
