Technically we could in EHM 2007 - it's just that the Pre-Game Editor didn't allow for it.

Thanks for this project.

Thanks MG; that's very kind.
I now have 23 tables (or .dat files) decoded and am working on the 24th at the moment. I'm expecting around 35 - 40 tables in total. There are still some things I haven't yet figured out, but I'll have enough to at least add some basic editing.

Sounds excellent! Your work on this is greatly appreciated!

28 tables now done. The 29th is the Club Records table and it's going to take a while to decode this one. The table now contains the name text strings which are all variable (in EHM 2007 it just used Name IDs which meant each record was an identical size)...

Well it drove me to the edge of sanity, but I finally figured out the structure for the Club Records table. It turns out that the structure has been greatly simplified (each club record type has a uniform structure) and some additional club record types have been added - both of which made it harder to figure out. On to the next table now!

How is it going with the editor?

Well I can now load and save the full DB into the Editor. I haven't figured out the structure of the three new tables which will really be impossible for me to figure out as at least one of them has variable record lengths (I believe they relate to league rules, structures and schedules). There are a few of fields here and there in the other tables that I haven't yet figured out - but I should be able to with time.
The project is however temporarily on hold whilst I work on the roster update and the Updater for a while. I'll be picking it back up later this summer - and I think progress should be reasonably quick.

Sounds good, looking forward to seeing the end result

Is it very different from the Football Manager editor? noob question I know, but new at both Hockey Manager AND this site

I'm not all that familiar with the FM Editor. My editor will be similar to the EHM 2007 Pre-Game Editor as the database in many respects is the same.

Is anything Editable yet because in one thing I want to do can't because this year's Division's Sctructure's weren't in 2007 so can't make NHL Geographic?

The editing options haven't changed since EHM:EA was released
- edit an EHM07 database (using the Pregame Editor or EHM Updater) and import it into EHM:EA
- edit EHM:EA using the EHM:EA Assistant

You're right that the only "structure options" remain the 2006 set-up or the 2014 set-up, and you can't have 4 divisions in the NHL using the 2006 setup.....not sure what you mean by "geographic" but the 1974 DB uses the 2006 structure and IMO the 6 NHL divisions in the 1974 DB are "geographic" (the teams in each division make geographic sense & the western/eastern conferences make geographic sense)

I have a quick follow-up question: Will the EA DB editor be able to use 07 DBs too? Because I'd rather use the EA DB editor than import from an 07 DB, but if the EA editor can then I can get a head start on what I want to do.

Which EA DB editor are you referring to?
The EHM:EA Database Editor that Archi's begun work on that is a long way from being done/available?
Or the EHM:EA Assistant that isn't really a database editor per se, but more of a saved game editor?
There is no way to edit an EHM:EA database separate from having a game started/running, and the edits you can make with the EHM:EA Assistant apply to your saved game only (the actual database does not change, just your saved game).....that's why the database editing continues to be done with EHM07 tools on EHM07 databases (and then the databases are imported into EHM:EA), and that's why among the many things he's doing Archi's working on a new/improved EHM Updater for EHM07
