After a terrible season last year, the Canucks will be looking to move up in the standings, and hopefully into the playoffs.

FORWARDS

Moravec - Vlasak - Peluso
Mika - Beaulieu - Sullivan
Berube - Pisani - Ahlstrom
Kriz - Welch - Pap

extras: Micke Sandstrom
callups: Brock Exner, Sandy Henderson, Stefan Krotak

The 1st line has a change in wingers, as Kamil Moravec was brought in via waivers. He'll be hoping to lock down that top LW spot, but will have to compete with a glut of wingers for that icetime. The 2nd line features recent 5th overall pick in the draft, Justin Sullivan at RW while runner up to the Calder Trophy, Yanick Beaulieu returns as the C on that line. Another waiver pickup, Rostislav Mika will be starting on the 2nd line, and possibly move up into the lineup. The 3rd line features the big UFA signing Lyle Berube at LW with veteran C Mac Pisani and ANOTHER waiver pickup, and returning Canuck Tomas Ahlstrom. Zdenk Kriz returns to Vancouver in the same role he had when he left many years ago, manning the LW on the 4th line with Warren Welch at C and last season's 2nd line RW, Filip Pap.
This is a much improved forward group over last season, and will hopefully lead to a more balanced approach than last season.

DEFENSE

Case - Janzen
Svoboda - Zohorna
Semenov - Mika
extras: Ladislav Holy, Bohuslav Domin
callups: Petra Brabec, Jusso Ahokas

3rd overall pick, Jonathan Case will be thrust into the role of a 1st pairing defenseman this year alongside Lorne Janzen who is going into his 2nd NHL season. Veteran and longtime Canuck Jiri Svoboda will be alongside Joseph Zohorna. Georgi Semenov and Robin Mika will man a veteran 3rd pairing.

GOALTENDING

Michael Kennedy
Eric Roberge

callups: Jim Ross, Nils Holzmann

Clearly the team is a work in progress, and the goaltending is a trainwreck, but I believe I will at the very least be fighting for a playoff spot unlike last season.
