What are Player Roles?

Been playing this game for quite a while now. The big news with it seemed to be player roles, and in a recent roster update the player role thingy was talked about even more and players could have over 50 different roles. Still i notice 0 difference from the 2007 game, where does player role even show up? Or is it hidden? The positiong/bio/scout report sometimes list 3 different roles and some of them are very hard to seperate on what is what. This was around in 2007 aswell and annoyed me quite abit, so this whole idea of clearer roles sounded promising. But still here i am looking over a player that is a flashy forward a speedster and a sniping speedster on 3 different screens. So.. are the player roles hidden like consistency? Or is one of them the real player role and the other two just rubbish? The whole scouting report is a mess and i hope they fix this eventually. Some clearity over what is what wouldn't hurt tho. Do i need to look in the pre-game editor to find out the player roles or do they showup ingame on a place i haven't looked at?

Player Roles are hidden.
There's a PDF chart included with the EHM Updater download that gives a bit more information on Player Roles.
The EHM Updater is your best bet for viewing them (the Pregame Editor doesn't show them, the EHM:EA Assistant lists numbers instead of descriptors).

Essentially Player Roles influence which Attributes are the focus of development/how much they develop (along with CA).
Player Roles include Sniper, Defensive D, Power Forward, and Playmaker (common descriptors of hockey player types).
In some cases they can also include finesse or physical as additional descriptors.

Your example of a flashy forward, a speedster, and a sniping speedster and your thinking they're 3 different player type decriptions.....to me all 3 essentially say the same thing (for example, all 3 descriptors apply to Ovechkin or Kessel...IMO they're not describing different player types)
