Feedback on attribute progression in EHM:EA

Hello everyone,

I am currently into my 7th year simulated in EHM: EA and every year it seem that players available in the draft have progressively weakened physical attributes. It's pretty frustrating as it makes absolutely no sense. Most higher draft picks should have higher ratings in these attributes, and even outside of the top 30(ish) there should be a number of players available with 'green' physical attributes. In my sim, it's impossible to find even one player with green physical attributes throughout. It's really silly that a player can be drafted first overall and have a speed of 4 or 5. I understand that these can improve (at least I think?), but some are so low that they will still never improve to a realistic level. Does anyone know any way of fixing this? I don't have too much experience with using the pre-game editor but I could manage if there's a solution.

Thanks!

i don't think there is a fast solution right now and I think that Riz is aware of this problem and will try to improve the situation in the subsequent patches.

Actually, I think it's super realistic, simulating the downfall of human society and the weakening of our children because of new media!

I haven't tracked attributes far into a save, so I don't know if the downfall thing still happens later on. If so, it's a welcome addition in my book. We all remember guys who had a great year or two, then apparently didn't have any (or much less) talent (Jim Carey, Joe Juneau, Cheecho, Rob Brown etc.). In a small way as frustrating it would be (and I'd love for it to be tied to mental attributes or something logical) some guys seem to hit their peak talent by 25.

Okay. It's just limiting the enjoyment of managing a team for years when the entry draft is weaker and weaker each year.

I'm not referring to established players in the NHL. I'm referring to players in the draft. Every year in my sims, the physical attributes have been worse and worse, and seemingly random. Sometime making absolutely no sense. If you're a top ten pick, you shouldn't have a balance of 3 or 4 lol. Furthermore, there are next to no quality players in the draft who have quality physical attributes compared to the years past.

It's not just physical attributes in my experience, there is just very little talent available at all. I've played over 10 years now and there's so little talent around that 18 teams are below the salary floor!

Ouch, that kills the immersion for me, hopefully it doesn't take too long to fix it

Same with me. Although i have not played a game that has lasted more then 3-4 seasons before starting a new one.

What kind of players are still sitting on free agency?

If I sort by reputation, the best player is a 41-year-old Corey Perry with physical attributes all 5 or below. The rest are a bunch of unknowns with maybe the odd season of NHL action, there's certainly no star talent sitting around.

That is at least encouraging.

That is exactly what I have been seeing in the game, and that just within 10 years from start. I lost a bit of interest in my Nashville save, as most draftees seemed quite bad. They were either great in offense or defense, no well rounded players seem to show up anymore. And as you say, physical attributes seem low all around.

11 years in now and only 1 team is close to the cap...even trades seem few now compared to the earlier years. Will continue to sim my Nashville save, seeing as I'm already 11 years in, and see how the draftees look further ahead. I suppose it doesn't really break the game, as I suppose all teams get affected by bad regens, but it does kill the enjoyment for me personally.
