i finding myself in weird places with contracts. for example i have a 26 year old UFA who just got 48 goals and 83 points and while doing his new contract i had to offer more money (like 500k-1M more per yera) then he asked for because i felt so bad getting him so cheap (5 years 3.75) i have others (25 Year old RFA D who had 55 points asked for 2M for 3 years) ( 26 year old UFA D who had 41 points asked for 700K for 2 years) and it juts is making me feel weird because in real life guys are not taking these types of contracts after big seasons. is this a case of they ask for money based of attibutes instead of play or w/e. if so how do you counter this (assuming you care) because it just feels so wrong to sign star players to such cheap contracts

I believe Riz is aware of this. I have personally messaged him about the issue of players not understanding their own value. Hopefully it'll be fixed at some point.

I thinki read something like this in Steam Forum, where ppl in advanced years had their salary cap below the 50%. I guess is something to tweak in game, but fells something weird to be able to resing all your core players and then get some great FA without sacrifice

ya kinda sucks. if no one wants money you'll never run into those hard choices between 2 players or having to trade a young guy cause you cant afford to resign. dont know if i shoudl just give out contracts based on there value or just accept that i am going to get guys at 50% off

There are some issues overall, and hence why so many teams end up below the salary floor after a few years - but I've also had some guys make pretty big demands considering their age and ability (when compared to the rest of the league). Don't know if that's just that the human discount isn't as good as the AI. - I often see pretty big players for them on low contracts but my similar players want a lot more money.
The major issues seem to be:
A - players don't want to re-sign for seemingly no good reason
B - No flexibility on the contracts when they do want to sign. Player wants x contract length and money - give them x or let them leave.

i agree with point a but not point b. if you up the money (which si easy cause they don't want any) you can change the length how you want it.

I've never got it to work for me, I used to try small incremental contracts so they'd gradually earn more the longer they stayed, but they never go for it. Maybe I need to offer more, but then it seems to defeat the purpose of limiting the risk of them turning into a bust - might as well give them want they want and re-assess in 3 years.
Never get more than a 5 year contract though.
