Player Performance VS Attributes

I've noticed in this game that it seems for countless players, even if they have good attributes, they can struggle at the NHL level. Then, some players who you may not usually give a chance because their attributes look bad can tear it up in the NHL if you give them a chance. Because of this in Free Agency and trades I consider performance in previous seasons almost as much as attributes and scout reports. Does anyone else judge players this way? Because some players can look attribute-wise like AHL players, and then have impressive NHL seasons if paired with competent linemates.

Yup, it's always been like that with all versions of EHM. Some hidden attributes, like Consistency, Important Games, and such, will make it a "try and decide" experience for the virtual manager, including other factors and variables.

... and, I personally tend to first look at the attributes, and then if I'm on the fence about it I look at stats history -- mainly average rating or points, depending on what I'm looking for. If the guy looks great attributes wise I'll just go for it, because sometimes they may be good in one team and bad in another, so sometimes there's really no other way of telling than trying.

I have noticed that the player role which is shown in the positions and scouting screen affects pretty much on how the player plays. I have had Checking forward with better attributes than Offensive playmaking forward in 1st line but everytime the offensive playmaking forward ends up with better points and Avr
