Why is it the majority of elite young players are American?

Not that I care that much but there seems to be a real problem with developing prospects who aren't American. I'm in 2034 and the only elite Canadians are the players who are close to their 40's just seems odd that there aren't any talented canadians being re-gened...
Also the amount of players who go to the hall of fame is laughable... All you need to do is play 1000 games and you're a lock for the hall... Pretty lame.
Also don't like the fact that players continue to play at an extremely high level well into their late 30's That doesn't happen in todays game so I don't see why it happens here.

Could be just the random-factor in your game -- Canadians not reaching their potential or not there yet. AFAIK the game still has a regen system, which means when a Canadian elite player retires, another should pop-up somewhere, starting his career as a teen. There have been some changes to the system since 07, though, not really clear to me yet what those are.

Players still play good for a long time now. Just look at Jágr. There is a lot of examples in the NHL that play on a high level despite the age

And please tell me how many Jagr's or St. Louis's there are? They are the exception not the rule.

In my game there is no one above 35 years old in the top 10 of NHL players' points. Sidney Crosby, at age 37, is 11th, and the best of the above 35 year olds. Admittedly they are a few years older than most of the real NHL top 10 scorers at the moment, but I wouldn't say the difference is significant. Not in my save at least.

In my game, productivity dropped off extremely sharply as a player aged. Zetterberg went from being a first liner to a frequent scratch within two years--it's 2019 and he just 'shock retired'. Datsyuk dropped off within a year even sharper than Zetterberg. Both were +7s, Datsyuk being team leader in nearly every category, and then dropped to under 6.7.
It's made me super cautious with older players.

For what it's worth, here are some data from my game that is in April 2033.
Players with Current Ability 170+ at November 2015:
Players with Current Ability 170+ at April 2033:
33 years or less players with Current Ability 170+ at November 2015: (ordered by nationality)
33 years or less players with Current Ability 170+ at April 2033: (ordered by nationality)
27 years or less players with Current Ability 170+ at November 2015:
27 years or less players with Current Ability 170+ at April 2033:
About older players, in 2015 only Zetterberg of 35 or more with 170 or better rating, whilst in 2033 there are 15 players in the same category. I also consider this a little too high.
To counter-balance this a little more top end talent would need to be available as there are about 2/3 of the young or in their prime players of 170+ in 2033 in relation to the start of the game in 2015.
EDIT: Most of the new stars are goalies.

Yes the game is still too high on veterans. Still better than 07, though.

Well depends on how old you say old is? If you look at 35 and upwards there is quite som players thats good. Not superstars but good players, I dont know exactly how good the old players are in the game though

The point is there are way too many players playing at a high level WELL into their 30's
