NHL Prediction League 2006/07 (Game 1)

TBL is proud to announce yet another instalment of the ever popular Prediction League!

This season, the game is slightly different as we have integrated the game into the main website rather than running it on a seperate site like we did in the past. This should make it easier to navigate. Another bonus is that the new system works with your existing Forum user profile so there is no need to sign up to play!

Simply click on the "Prediction League" button at the top of the header navigation bar to go to the Prediction League page. To join in on the fun, click on the "Predict" button located to the left of the Upcoming Games List. This will take you to a page where you can then enter your predictions for each result. Click on the "Make Predictions" button to save your predictions.

You can keep going back to your predictions before each prediction deadline by clicking on the "Predict" button to edit your predictions.

The Upcoming Games List also details when the deadline is to make a prediction for each game. The deadline for each game is one hour before faceoff.

Another difference from previous seasons is that the Competition will be split into two. There will be a competition running from the beginning of the season until December 30th (Game 1) and then another competition running from January 1st until the end of the regular season (Game 2). This is so that new users can join in on the fun if they miss the first half of the season. Thus we will have a Game 1 winner, a Game 2 winner and an overall King of the Prediction League. The King of the Prediction League is the person who scores the most points when their Game 1 and Game 2 points are totalled together. So to stand a good chance of being crowned King, you will need to take part in both Games.

Additionally we will host our annual Playoff Prediction League like we have in the past.

Here's how the points are awarded:
  • Correctly predicting the exact score - 3 points
  • Correctly predicting the winner or it is a tie - 1 point
You can now predict the first round of NHL games:

06-Oct-2006 New Jersey Devils @ Carolina Hurricanes
07-Oct-2006 Los Angeles Kings @ Anaheim Ducks
07-Oct-2006 Montreal Canadiens @ Toronto Maple Leafs
07-Oct-2006 New York Rangers @ Philadelphia Flyers
08-Oct-2006 Columbus Blue Jackets @ Chicago Blackhawks

I'm not good at predicting games(As I found out a couple years ago when my friend and I did this exact thing with all the Flyers games), but I always have fun trying... so I'm definately in! :joy:

Do you reckon make the TBL Test User join and then make its predictions according to what EHM predicts the scores would be?

Lol no. I'll do it by my own ;) Sometimes i'm not so bad... But i don't really care of winning or loosing, the most important is to have fun doing this! :) Then,if i could win,i won't spit on it,for sure! :-p

I think maybe have one where it is from scores in real life just to see how realistic it is.

Changed the thread from 'Playoff' to 'NHL Prediction League' :-p

I am absolutely terrible at this game btw... but watch out for those brothers; they've got uncanny accuracy with these things that's why Calv took it last year. :help:

Awww. I logged on to check to see if there was a competition on this site I was not hopeless at so far. No numbers yet. Oh well, no pressure :-D

Ah apologies for the late update - I've been away over the weekend

Anyway, the scores have been updated and this week's set of fixtures are now up for prediction. There's some pretty difficult games to predict so who knows what will happen! The games take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday (depending on your timezone).

Batdad and Jan Smetana are currently joint top. Batdad correctly predicted the winners of all of the games including correctly predicting the score of one of them. Smetana correctly predicted two scores and one winner. Frosty is in third, having predicted the winners of all five games.

I think the answer to that is you may have found your niche :-D

As I take up my residence at the bottom of the table I am reminded again that I, however, am not good at this game. Nope, not at all :dunno:

Batdad continues to be top of the league with 9 points after two rounds of play  Smetana, Ramon1982 and joehelmer are all joint second with 7 points. It's still a tight competition but I think things will spread out a little after the next one or two rounds.

The next round of games are up and ready to be predicted. The first game takes place on Thursday. As I won't be around from 20th until 26th October, I shall put the following weeks' fixtures up very soon. If anyone has any requests as to which team and/or games to feature for next weeks' round of predictions then I'm happy to hear them.

Oh, and I doing terribly this year
