So I did a search and couldn't find much of anything on the subject. . .

Does anyone know if it's possible to train a player to play a secondary position? And how?

I did a quick search and found a dedicated thread http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... ce#p194161 and multiple relevant posts in the practice thread (such as this one http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... ce#p184211). There was more, but I think the above will answer your questions

It takes forever to train them, so I just use the editor to adjust this as long as the player legitimately plays the position in question.

There is two condition for it to works, first when you click on position the player must have "Competent" in the position you want to train him and also he must have good attributes in Determination and Workrate.
I give all my young new players a new position like that without using any editor. I train them during the OffSeason and continue until the new position appears.

I would think a player's versatility rating (the higher the better) is also a factor, although I haven't verified that.
