Players on International Teams - Advantage?

Beyond verisimilitude, is there any advantage for your players to be chosen for International tournaments? Sure they can get injured, but do they gain some self esteem or anything like that? If I'm GMing a team for International play, is it my selfish desire to leave my players on their team or give them a chance to shine Internationally?

Well, i dont know how it works here, but in FM when a player plays for his national team gain "internationl experience" and thats help to build it better as a player. Usually the players with international caps ar more consistent and hae better determination (thats in FM) after some years. But in FM players neer go to international matches when there is very importart matches in teams (well thats becouse FIFA rules).
So going back to you question if the engine is similar i guess is better for them to play in the international matches. But they should have a better fixture to dont mess your of season.

I've never gotten into that. But there's a specific section/stat on the players how many international games they've done.
No idea why it would even exist if it wouldn't have any role in game whatsoever. (this is just me speculating). Good question though.

I was under the impression that playoff games help build the 'important games' attribute (and helps with development). I have a hard time believing that international games (especially the big tournaments) aren't coded the same way if that's true.

It makes sense, but I've never heard of this before...I wonder if it's true...on average the testing shows very little increase in Important Games and growth/differences seems to connect to CA.....but this particular issue I don't think is "answered" by averages - I think one would need to connect/chart playoff and international performance and Important Attribute Attribute growth of a great many players to see if it's true)

So without any advantage in-game and assuming you also are the GM for the national team, it'd better to keep your players off it and even use the best players from opposing teams. Mechanically.....

I wouldn't say that myself; playing on the National Team may promote CA development

Unfortunately international play is not the same in football and in hockey, but I think that his is something that long term should be worked on. Of course regular national team players should have better mental ratings and experience.

Are you comparing FM and EHM? If so, do you actually "know" that international play doesn't affect player development in EHM, or is this just your opinion?

It is of course just my suspect, but frankly I never ever seen any actual change in development.
