Pen Mins

Sorry I'm playing the 2005 EHM, found it recently and hooked on it again after not playing for years. Little bit of a novice, 1st season playing the NHL (Canadiens) - always played the English leagues.
I'm after some help, I'm literally having 20 + pen mins per game and 10+ power plays against me. I don't think there is be a super aggressive setting, hitting level is normal - where am I going wrong, it's driving me mad!
