31 team NHL with Las Vegas Golden Knights in EHM 1

Arrrgghhh...I think I'm pretty close to having a 31 team NHL with Vegas working. Created a schedule template for 31 team based on next season' scheduling. http://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/2016 ... _31_t.html

Still need to create the alternate NHL template for Olympic years but I think the template is solid.

NHL league structure has been edited to 31 teams and divisional structure to have Vegas in the Pacific.

When I start the game, I get an error when the new game i loading the DB that the DB can't find teams for initial stage of NHL. But I can click through this (although I'm sure it is related to what I see later).

Anyways - Vegas is a choice (one of 31) for the NHL upon game start, all looks good (screens below), schedule looks good. But...for some reason the Western Conference is not visible in the standings and the game crashes when the scheduled real season begin. Again - back to the error at startup. Am I missing something I need to edit for the team or league that has to do with the Western Conference?

Like I said, I think I'm close. The insanity of the schedule template was the hard part hopefully.

Nevermind, I'm an idiot. There's a number of team per conference selection you have to make in the Stage under League Structure. Hopefully that fixed it.

Edit: working perfectly thus far! :joy:

Alessandro, what about your VHL ?
So you have Kunlun in as well? Sounds sweet! Nice job!
Thanks!
There is "nhl expansion draft" in editor. Does it work?
p.s. Vegas's founded year is 2017? Not 2016?

Oops yeah Vegas should probably say founded in 2016 a was just thinking 2017 because that is their first season.

I didn't look at the expansion draft yet, interesting that there is one built in?! Does it look like something that can be "activated"?

Would be interesting of we could add a 'proper' expansion with the Knights not playing till 2017. (Selfishly would work for me putting MKL into the Elite league as well). Think that may be a bridge too far though!

Arch: can we add international competitions to the editor? I tried adding more Junior World Championship divisions last night and when I tried adding rule-sets to them the extra divisions I created weren't displayed.

There is an expansion draft in the DB yes, but all the drafts are setup and done on the game side for now. The DB only provides the names of the drafts, all the rules are setup inside the game. So drafts are something for the future (beyond this version of the game) but should be able to make them configurable as well.

I'll upload it later this morning.

Keep in mind the "expansion draft" process I used was all manual labor and the database still starts in 2016/17 so your mileage will vary. The team is stocked with free agents at the start.

If anybody wants to have the 31 game NHL schedule template and alternate template, you can download the database and extract them with Archi's editor and use them in your own databases. Hopefully we can promote some sharing of schedule and league templates!

See Vegas related downloads in my Vegas dynasty story, second post, for all downloads:

- Saved Game
- Logos
- DB which includes 31 team NHL schedule templates

Use as you wish, I don't really care, the more we can share the better!

Well again, the expansion draft is not a real "thing" but here's what I can do - I'll sim a game through till June 18, 2017 or so (when the actual expansion draft happens), I'll make sure the Vegas roster is totally cleared at that point and I'll upload the save. You can then use archi's editor to transfer players you want on to Vegas. That may be the easiest route to go if you want to start immediately with a Vegas franchise at the correct point in time. You can use the editor to to fill the roster and you can have control over the entry draft. I'll even make sure the Vegas scouts have scouted for the draft so you have info on players in the draft.

Keep up the great work - and keep posting your findings here. This is really impressive and it is useful to see how you have set things up. It looks like you have had more success than me with multi-conference leagues.

Just on this error, keep in mind that the Editor uses a +2 modifier for all stage indexes (this is just to make it easier to understand in the Editor). So Stage 0 in the game is actually Stage 2 in the Editor. The initial stage (i.e. Stage 1) is referred to as Stage -1 (minus one) in game.

Keep in mind that you cannot move players/staff in a saved game. You can only do this in the database.

Again, this is mighty impressive work! 8-)

So database might be only changed?

If you want to edit contracts, move players/staff, etc then you must edit the database. You cannot do this with saved games right now.

Ummm...unless I was daydreaming I changed the contracted club in a saved game of players when I was testing this...I mean...I think I did?!?!

EDIT: Weird...probably this is what you are talking about then...I moved Boyes from Vegas to Colorado via the editor and he shows up as a Colorado player when I search for him but looks like he is in some sort of purgatory where he isn't actually on their roster or depth chart or playing. And he's no longer on the Vegas roster. But under his actions...it's like he's still contracted with Vegas.

So...moral of the story...the way I did the expansion draft by manually controlling GM's at that point in the game looks like the way you have to do it. What I did was trade one for one the UFA vets on my team for the guy I was selecting. The UFA vets all pretty much suck so they'll head of to free agency or retirement come July 1 so it is like the teams losing a guy to expansion for nothing. Wish there was an easier way.

It's funny you describe it as purgatory because that's exactly how I think of it! Whilst the Editor won't stop you from transferring a player/non-player in a saved game, you'll end up with the purgatory issue in-game. It's because the saved game has an additional table which tracks the more detailed contract data which isn't in the database (e.g. the year by year salaries (AFAIK), bonuses, clauses, etc). I don't have the details of the structure of this database and so we cannot edit this in the Editor (although IIRC Lazion and I did once figure out various bits of the table) - the end result is that the player is partially moved on to the new roster but his contract data is still linked to his earlier club.

I'm working on the export function at the moment and so hopefully we'll soon have the ability to export your customised rules and structure from your database for sharing with others who can import it into other databases.
andda715 wrote:Ah, right maybe the +2 was the thing that confused me - even though I've read what you wrote earlier at least 10 times wrt to this. :-D
IMO it's a very easy thing to overlook/forget!

Even in the very advanced Football Manager Real-Time Editor, the players cannot be moved between clubs. The editor has a swap tool, though, which takes two players and swaps all their data around, including their IDs. Although, I have tested the feature, and noticed it bugs out with the game stats concerning the present year.

All the players on the Vegas roster that can be qualified for RFA status just go UFA no matter what...

You talking about RFA's that are on Vegas from "expansion" You made them all qualifying offers at least before July 1st? I just played a game where I was able to re-sign all the RFA's to long-term deals prior to July 1st except Marcus Foligno who rejected the offer but the offer was the qualifying terms so even past July 1st he was still Vegas property.

I'll try and take another look though to make sure.

What countries/leagues are you selecting at startup with the Vegas database?
