I've never seen THIS before! I knew I was good ;) but I never thought the other team would just give up two minutes into the third period!

Wow, you must have really put a hurting on them... literally! Or they were super thin already and sustained another injury in your game. That's the first I've seen an NHL team forfeit though... what does their injury report look like? :-?

The heck?

The scoreboard doesn't show the same score as what the game log shows.

I didn't notice that... but I was talking about the forfeit. :D

Is that real, InSTALLed, or did you add that in for fun?

If it's real, then I hope that gets fixed with the coming patch, because 5-0 is nothing that would make an NHL team forfeit. If it was, I don't think the Flyers would have a single finished game this year. :cloud:

No, it's real.

They forfeited because both of their goalies were injured.

Usually when leaving a walk-over the score is set to 5-0. It´s practiced in both hockey and soccer.

They arent allowed to play with 6 skaters? That's odd.

they can, but the tiny chance at a win isn't worth the likley affect on goal differential

The only time I saw a team forfeit was kinda bugged. The Starting goalie had been pulled for poor performance, the backup got injured and the game was forfeit. Surely the starting goalie would just come back out :dunno: Also bugged as the score was reset to 5-0, even though the team that won was winning by more than 5, the rule is that if a game is forfeit the score is 5-0 or the score at time of forfeit if the team was winning by more than 5, otherwise teams would just quit during blowouts.

In real life you can place a skater in goal. You are given time to let him change to the proper eqiupment.

It is not allowed to quit a game just like that in any league. The result of that would probably be heavy reduction of points.

With mine it was actually because I had run the first goalie then there was a line brawl. Kiprusoff and their backup (Huet I think) went at it and their guy got ejected. leaving them with no goalie.

Interestingly enough, I've seen this exact situation in a real NHL game...a couple seasons ago it was Atlanta v. Edmonton and pretty much that exact situation rolled up. The Oilers starter was hurt (I think...woulda been Ty Conklin at the time I'm pretty sure) and the backup got ejected after a line brawl. There were still six minutes or so left in the game and the Oilers played the rest of it without a goalie AT ALL! The Thrashers didn't score as many goals I expected they would given the circumstances, I think only one or two. Still it was pretty awesome...one for the ages.

I heard once upon a time (when Shanny was still with the Blues, so a while ago) that Shanahan was our emergency goaltender in case of 2 injured goalies in one game. I was pretty young then, so I might've just heard wrong or was getting bs'ed, but that's what I heard ;)

I believe it came up when Riendeau got injured in a game and a backup (CuJo or Pat Jablonski) had just come off an injury and may re-aggravate it.

Jamie Allison was dressed as a back-up goalie last season, not quite the same thing, but basically if both a teams goalies go down early a skater goes in

There was a famous happening of this sort back in the 40s or 50s I think (though I could be totally wrong on the daye it might have been 1915 for all I can remember) but it was when they only had one goaltender and he was hurt and the coach came in and played taking the team to the Championship (I think it was before it was officially the Cup too) they talk about it in the Legends of Hockey series. 8-)

Yeah I heard about that one too. I also heard about a goalie who suffered a heart attack on the ice but FINISHED THE FREAKING GAME. He never played again after that, but still...It could just be one of those myths but I hope it's true; whoever that guy was, he was the toughest @#$%$@!!*@ in the history of the game as far as I'm concerned.

To quote a poste just click the "Quote" button to the upper right of their post 8-)

I think it was Hull (Bobby) that played the last three games of the Cup finals on a broken leg... so yeah players were of a different mold for the most part back then.

Lester Patrick was the coach/goalie. Craig Patrick's uncle I believe. New York Rangers. I am 99% sure it was the last cup the Rangers won in 1950 before 1994. You would think ol' Riz would know about that being such a Ranger guy and have the coaches ready to hit the nets when both goalies go down in EHM.
Paul Coffey on a broken ankle (of course he wore his skates three sizes too small so his feet always hurt anyway). And yeah Bobby did the leg, so did someone else...A Maple Loaf I think.
