EHM The Blue Line

It keeps telling me that I have to have a complete roster and, even though I do, won't let me proceed.

If I tell it to let the AI set the rosters, it trades away some decent players.

What am I not getting about this please?

What is the exact message you get? What league are you playing in? Perhaps show us a screenshot of your roster screen.

I'll have to figure out how to take a screenshot. Playing in the NHL.

It basically tells me my rosters are incomplete, even though I have the proper number of players dressed
and my lines set up. Won't let me continue unless I let the AI re-set everything. The last time I did
that it traded Scott Darling away (playing the Blackhawks).

I'll have to figure out how to take a screenshot.

There's an in-game way of doing it, but I've always just pressed PrintScreen and then the screenshot of your desktop will be on your clipboard. Then just paste it in Paint. Save the file and upload it somewhere (like Google Drive), and link it here.

If you have three goalies on your roster send one of them down to the minors.

Either this, or you possibly have too many contracted players within the franchise? More than 50 contracts?
