Good players asking for too much

So lately I've been noticing something odd, around the time the season rolls around, there are 5-10 very good, even stars, still available in free agency. This wouldn't happen in the real NHL, guys that are around at this time are depth players. Sometimes players are asking for too much, like Tomas Tatar is wanting 9.75 million for the next 6 seasons, which is not realistic. So basically, some players are asking for a ridiculous amount of money, so no one is paying them, and at the same time, for some reason some teams don't have enough cap space as they're overpaying too many players. Is this something that's happening for others/will be fixed?

It happened to many of us. We had a couple of discussions about it but not much can be done. The AI needs some work but Riz doesn't have alot of free time to work on the game. I know it's a bummer but most of the time those players will sign in november at a cheaper price but yeah, it's not realistic.

If you want to do a band-aid fix of sorts you can go over the database at large and lower their ambition and increase their loyalty. I'm not 100% on the ambition mattering. But players with low loyalty will ask for outrageous money in EHM. So increasing that will remedy the wage issue, but it won't do anything about the AI being bad at roster management.

Yeah, it's a problem that's been going on for a while. If you give it a while, maybe until middle of the season, they usually lower their demand. Something like what Yashin did back in the day lol

Everything being equal I would rather a player ask for too much than too little. Not only does it make it more realistic it makes the game more difficult. I hate when I go to try and sign a free agent and based on his history and his attributes he should be asking for like 5 million for example, but he only asks for 1.5 million. At this point to make the game more realistic I generally offer guys the contacts I feel they would realistically sign. Makes things like cap management more difficult and much more fun to me. All about the realism
