Scouts

Why do a lot of scouts have such good tactics ratings? I don't really see how this applies to scouting. :dunno:

I'm gonna guess that since they are unimportant, the researchers probably left them at 0. And 0's are suppose to allow that attribute to be randomized, which leads toscouts getting unnecessarily high ratings there.

That would be my guess as well... though I'm not one of the database/research guys so I can't say for sure...

Sometimes scouts are coaches in disguise. Lots of hockey people who have experience in other fields of the game end up scouting, so it's not unrealistic really. We of the public don't know much about what each scout brings to the table as far as aptitudes so it's hard to say the game has it wrong. Also, it may benefit a scout to have a high rating in this attribute as he is better able to understand if a player fits the team dynamic/tactic set and how well he executes what he's asked to by the coach. That might be a stretch, but this game gets pretty intense like that sometimes.

I usually look for a scout with decent tactics to be my "next game" advance scout. I figure with a combination of good "judge ability" and "tactics" that scout would be able to give me better info in the report. I've noticed some scouts tell you more in those reports, so I thought this was the cause.

Just to add: How good the random attributes are depends on the current ability rating (this is a hidden stat) of the scout.

Could you give a little more info on the hidden stats? I'd like to know what the other hidden stats are (I've heard of loyalty, potential, and injury proneness) and if the stats are accessible to coaches and scouts, for instance, when viewing a scout report it sometimes says a player in intensely loyal when no loyalty stats are available.

Could you give a little more info on the current ability rating? What if current ability rating equals to potential ability? Does it mean my scout/player won't progress anymore? How do I choose which Scouting Attributes to improve? I can train players the way I want them to develop in Practise section. How about Scouts or even Ass.coaches themselves? Do I have any control of that?
