Wow Montreal did it! They traded Galchenyuk one on one for Max Domi. Not that I don't like Domi but they still proved they can't do pants with their good prospects. Galchenuyk should've had a better role in that team and could've been so much better than that. They already gave up on him, that's pathetic. I hope their third pick this year will have a better futur. :thdn:

Was really happy with DET's draft the other day. DET had two 1st round picks and someone fell to them for both, and they quickly nabbed them. They didn't get the plethora of defensemen people expected, but that's OK because I think the first two forwards they got are better than the d-men that were there.

The only pick that made me scratch my head was Berggren at #33. I would have preferred Bode Wilde and then to still draft McIsaac a few picks later.

Code: Select all

6	1	Filip Zadina	R	Halifax Mooseheads [QMJHL]
30	1	Joe Veleno	C	Drummondville Voltigeurs [QMJHL]
33	2	Jonatan Berggren	R	Skelleftea AIK [SweHL]
36	2	Jared McIsaac	D	Halifax Mooseheads [QMJHL]
67	3	Alec Regula	D	London Knights [OHL]
81	3	Seth Barton	D	Trail Smoke Eaters [BCHL]
84	3	Jesper Eliasson	G	Troja/Ljungby-2 (Sweden Jrs.)
98	4	Ryan O'Reilly	R	Madison Capitols [USHL]
160	6	Victor Brattstrom	G	Timra IK [Swe-1]
191	7	Otto Kivenmaki	C	Assat-2 (Finland Jrs.)
The NYI also had a really good draft I thought, probably the best of all 31 teams. Wahlstrom, Dobson, Wilde, and Skarek were all picks that made you go "Dang" because you were hoping they might fall more to you. And Blade Jenkens and Christain Krygier are two really good late-round depth picks that I think have chances to make the NHL eventually in bottom six roles. I'd really hoped DET might get Wahlstrom, but Zadina fell instead which is perfectly fine.

Really nice deal for Toronto. They're a bigger threat now with him for years to come. 11 millions will be a cheap deal in 2-3 years with the cap constantly raising for a player of that quality.

I don't know what the Blues expect from O'Reilly but they got robbed badly.

Yup. It went from 75 to 80 this from this season to next if I remember right?

O'Reilly is a super great player. But two first round players + 2nd and Sobotka and Berglund might be too much. But Ryan is really good.

Indeed O'Reilly is good I'm not saying the opposite but they gave way too much.

Mtl traded Pacioretty to Vegas for Tatar, Suzuki and a second round pick.

That's a nice deal by Bergevin. Suzuki is a really interesring prospect. Tatar is ok and the second round pick will be useful. Now it's time to give that "C" to Gallagher!

He can only rebound to a better season than 17/18 anyway, I personaly think he'll be fine, and I'd not be surprised to see him do well away from Mtl and its fanbase/ambience...

If he has a decent center he'll do fine. He proved it before. He had a bad season last year, just like most of the MTL team and he played with so many different centers that it didn't helped him. They couldn't have keep him even with a decent center anyway, he's not a good leader and ripping him off of the "C" would've pushed him out probably.

With that being said, with Kotkaniemi and now Suzuki, the Habs reinforced alot their futur at the center now. McPhee really did a bad move especially with how much he gave for Tatar at the deadline. He almost depleted Vegas of their picks already! :-D He seems to really focus on having success immediately.

How much time will it take for Yzerman to go back to Detroit to rebuild them? :-p They might be a team that will interest me when the new DB will come out.

If Yzerman goes back, it won't be until next offseason at the soonest. DET should have another high 1st rounder, probably picked by then.

DET seems to have the young forwards. It all then depends on getting a d-man or two. Even if a Cholowski or Hronek turn out real well, they'll probably still need another one.

Lots of Twitter talks atm with Karlsson not yet reporting to Ottawa's training camp. He'll talk to media soon apparently..

San Jose, Vegas and Dallas are quoted, and I'd be more than hyped to see him go to San Jose..

Oh My God ! Karlsson to Sharks !!! It's official !!!!

EDIT : My god look at this trade !!
Sources say the #Sens have dealt Erik Karlsson to the Sharks in exchange for Chris Tierney, Dylan DeMelo, Josh Norris, Rudolfs Balcers, 2020 1st, 2019 2nd and two conditional picks.

Wow, that doesn't seem like the Sharks paid enough :dunno: shouldn't Ottawa get at least one "very good player" (and preferably more!) - seems like a "bad video game AI" trade HaHa

I wonder if the Sharks will "flip" Karlsson? or if not, does Karlsson resign in San Jose or is he a rental?

What a bad trade for Ottawa! My guess is that Dorion was very under pressure by the owner. This franchise is going nowhere. They might be a better a choice than Detroit in the next DB afterall. :D

Are we really considering Karlsson being flipped ? I mean, I know he got traded but still..

I guess he will ask for 12M or so, and if I was Wilson I'd do everything to sign him for an extension.
I prefer to loose Hertl or even Vlasic if it allows me to keep EK.

The idea of him being flipped that I read about (on HFBoards) was based on the second "conditional pick" in the trade, the potential 1st rounder Ottawa gets if Karlsson's on an eastern conference roster in 2018-19 (i.e. San Jose may trade him before the end of this season) https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/ott ... se-sharks/
