UPDATE: Global United Hockey is now officially on Steam! Please check out the database and related graphic packs here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... earchtext=

Great thanks to xECK29x for making this happen and helping me share my project with everyone else!

For the original post for Global United Hockey 1.4.1 please see click here

Otherwise here is the 2021-05-15 Global United Hockey 1.5 update, debut on Steam!

Official Global United Hockey 1.5 On Steam

Second iteration of the Global United Hockey, first for EHM 1.5, and first on Steam! Keep in mind this is a highly fictional database and a fun project I've been working on during the pandemic, and finally glad to share it to a larger group of people!

Last major update for the 2020-2021 season, but preparing new things for the next version!

Special thanks to:
xECK29x for making this happen
ImActuallyAnOtter for his prospect generator and wisdom
NoPurposeFlour for use of his face generation software (pack coming soon)
Flinch for db input,
Archibalduk for the EHM editor/Jersey Generator

Also additional thanks to everyone in the community for the feedback, testing at various stages, and overall help throughout the process of this version!

The base of the database was using the PremierePivot 5 series. Featuring most of the prospects, teams, and players from those releases, but I've added tons of custom and fictional content! Loosely inspired by the BKArchitect's NHL32x/WHA), I took the fictional direction to the extreme:

Over 25+ non-playable leagues of high school, college, and U15, U17, and AA in 5 continents
1,979 teams added between playable and non-playable leagues.
35,882 players added from 180 countries, creating virtually endless possibilities for new line ups and teams
1,061 staff and 1,410 officials added.

Jersey pack includes jersey files for over over 30,000 players.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 2487835850

Logo pack includes logos for all of the Global United Teams and the NHL/AHL/SPECHL expansion teams.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 2487842053

Logos were created by me or found and modified from pre-existing logos, ehm packs (BKArchitect/dani9), clip art, concept art, or extinct teams and altered, combined, or distorted to match the team. If you found yourself uncredited, and would like specific credit, I will properly credit where credit is due.

Recommended additional pack: dani9's graphic pack on Steam or downloadable on EHM Blueline: viewtopic.php?p=233209#p233209

Main Features:
Global United Hockey Master League: 96 playable teams from 96 different countries. Each has a fictionally created starting roster, at least 1 direct farm team and 1 direct junior team.

Image

Image

Global United Hockey Diamond League: Converted to the main farm system for GUHML, shares mascots with parent team

Image

Global United Hockey Platinum Juniors: Repurposed for 88 teams, all non-Canadian/US GUH teams from the original releases U22 team. A great place to scout for up and coming, NHL and GUH talent.
Image

NHL update: All existing teams have 31 current NHL teams with final Pivot transactions

NHL has expanded to 50 teams! 19 expansion teams including the real life Seattle Kraken. 8 teams reinstated, including the Hartford Whalers, Atlanta Thrashers, Houston Aeros, Indianapolis Racers, California Golden Seals, Kansas City Scouts, Hamilton Tigers, and the Quebec Nordiques! Expansion teams: Halifax Highlanders (from the movie Goon), Baltimore Bandits (re-invented from an AHL stint), Saskatoon Silverfoxes, Hawaii Honu, Portland Beavers, Albuquerque Armadillo. 4 NHL expansion teams from Mexico: Tijuana Desperados, Guadalajara Conquistadores, Monterray Muertos, and the Ciudad de Mexico Azteca.

Image

Each new team is seeded with 30 players from all over the world, balanced out to fit an expansion roster, but much room for growth for all 19 new teams! *nerfed from 1.4.1 release, allowing players to start fresh on building from a weak team.

Division alignment: A mix of old school, new school and fantasy, the Wales Conference: Adams (New York and New England) and Patrick (From Pittsburgh to Chicago and the US teams in between) and Campbell Conference: Norris (Texas and Mexico connection) and Smythe (Southern Pacific US/Tijuana) divisions return, and introducing 4 new divisions honoring heroes from the past: Francis (Southeast US) and Roy (Eastern Canada) divisions join the Wales Conference and the Gretzky (Pacific Northwest) and Hull (US and Canadian Midwest/Mountain) divisions join the Campbell Conference.

Tested and working, the NHL Fantasy Draft is also an option to start out for those that want to go that route! *Visual bug that only lists 40 teams when setting the order of the teams for Fantasy Draft selection, you will only see the first 40, but all 50 select correctly once you get to the draft. Bug has been reported officially to SI.

The Playoff format for both NHL conferences:
Top 14 teams (of 25), get an automatic PO seed
Teams 15-18 play a best of 3 for the last 2 seeds
Teams 19-25 are in the draft lottery
Each conference provides different challenges for the new expansion team!

Personal notes: The re-invented Campbell conference loosely based on the current Western Conf. teams inc. 12 of the 19 expansion teams. Making the playoffs may be a bit easier, but the division is top heavy. All 4 Mexican teams are in this conference. A new challenge as drafted Canadian and US players aren't always willing to jump the border at an early age, international drafting may be key here.

Image

The Wales conference is a bit harder as it only has 7 exp teams. Some aging cores of existing teams allow expansion teams to organically move up in the league. With the tougher competition, rivalries are strong.

Image

AHL
50 AHL teams, current, new, and old teams to function as a primary farm team for each NHL team. New expansion to Mexico and 1 from Havana, Cuba.

Image

SPECHL
The merging and expansion of the ECHL and SPHL. All existing teams from both leagues, with the addition of several new or reinstated teams. 58 teams serving as a secondary farm to the NHL, and the First Nation Totems and Navajo Spirits of the Global United Hockey Master League

Image

NCAA
The 59 university/college system of 6 college divisions of the Frozen Four tournament, merged into a single league
Bracketed 16 team tournament NCAA style to decide a winner.

Image

Note:
Many playable leagues in Europe were stripped from this release, as the focus of this DB is the GUH, non traditional markets, and NHL expansion

Using a customized prospect generator, I seeded the database with players all over the world from varying skill levels. Many untraditional players may pop up in the NHL and other leagues moving forward.

International tournament changes
Olympics has expanded to 18 teams, each qualifying phase also extended to 18

World Championships expanded to 180 teams:
Image

World Junior Championships expanded to 128 teams
Image

World cup expanded to 80 teams: All 54 IIHF countries, +other countries with membership to IIHF in real life
World cup U-20, same 80 country's U-20 teams, in a bi-yearly June Tournament (right before the draft)

Non-playable leagues
Internationally for every continent, a whole systen of high school/college, as well as expanded, organized, and updated AA, U17, and U15 leagues for Africa, Latin America, Asia, Europe and Oceania (over 1,000 teams and major cities by population of 180 countries internationally)

Last but not least:
Recommended Settings:
*Optional: Full, is pretty vast, over 100,000k players and staff, and over 1,000 added teams from the original PivotPremiere release, play according to the speed you prefer.
Otherwise, Normal or large with specific countries added:
Disable all extra staff
Disable all extra players
Retain All Teams
Retain Players & Staff: (select up to 10 countries you'd like to see more players come from, my suggestion is to add non-traditional markets here)

Additional resources for the game, please download the graphics pack for all Global United Hockey teams, as well as the additional NHL expansion teams!
Jersey Facepack
GUH Logopack

A jersey player pack has also been uploaded, if you want to add a little more color to your playing experience! In addition to my prospects, the NPF's facepack for the original Pivot should also work for all of ImAnActualOtters player generated players, too!

Thank you, and I hope you enjoy!

I haven't yet downloaded this but I'm so impressed from what you describe. It's great to see somebody else dive head first into database and playable league editing to create something entirely new. :notworthy:

I will stick a copy on TBL's OneDrive as I know MediaFire links have a tendency to expire after a while. Have you considered using GitHub to share your work? I have been thinking of using this to share the 2006/07 update project outside of the Steam Workshop so that there is an easy way of downloading. If you're interested, I can set this up for you using my own account and transfer ownership to you - all you would need is a GitHub account. I'd happily post a short tutorial on how to publish releases as I was planning to do this anyway. It's basically a case of uploading the files and hitting the "Publish a new Release" button each time.

I'll stick this up on the TBL main page and Twitter account this evening.

Thank you for the kind words and for sharing!

I didn't know about an issue with the mediafire links expiring, so I will look into OneDrive as well. I've mildly used Github for professional purposes, but can consider it for this. I can create a personal github (not connected to work), and I'll get back to you on that later this week. I used to have my own site/hosting stuff, but kinda dropped it a while back due to lack of use or interest.

OneDrive is probably your best bet if you can get it. We've used it for TBL for around a decade I think. Give me a shout if you need a hand.

In the meantime, I have shared your DB news on the home page and on Twitter: https://www.ehmtheblueline.com/site/202 ... -released/ & https://twitter.com/ehmtheblueline/stat ... 0993159170

Thanks, still looking at options to fit my needs, maybe hit you up on the github portion for dbs. I understand the part about uploading code, but can't seem to upload non-text/script files.

Thanks so much for posting and sharing! I hope people enjoy.

Also, I found a minor scheduling bug, it still works with it, but now it works as intended. Fixed it and re-uploaded to the same file location, so the link should be updated. I made note of it at the beginning of the thread.

Nice! Love these fantasy-style DBs. How has long term testing been? Any major crashes?

Can’t wait to test it out with extra players included lol

Thanks! No crashes yet, but I am still finding a bit of wonkiness with the financials, will tweak some of that in a bit. I'm also working with NPF to get a face pack going soon.

First time going through and playing "for real" to just get a sense of it from that perspective, and it's fun so far. NHL works with absolutely no issues. GUH having weird issues with play budgets after/before relegation.
Was able to win Stanley Cup. And the Global Diamond and Master cups with a test run.

Some balancing may be needed for the GUH, but NHL is definitely interesting.

To cover a request from Reddit. I've re-uploaded the database with empty NHL expansion teams (Albuquerque, Baltimore, Halifax, Hartford, Hawaii, Houston, Quebec, Saskatoon, and Seattle) all have empty rosters. All GUH players are still available.

Idea, thank you for creating this. The entire game feels so fresh. It’s as if you expanded on the WHA2 idea from BK and turned it into a fantasy world experience. Bravo, truly.

Let me preface by saying this, DB tinkering and creating custom leagues is all a bit overwhelming for me since the 1.4 update doesn’t handle things correctly. I’ve always wanted a custom league where I can have a team of my families heritage (Portuguese), and lead them to glory.

Having all the teams bring blank is great to start off with. (I may have to start a new game since I have over 100,000 players in my DB lmao - simming speed is a tad slow going day to day). Watching certain players go to different teams in a frenzy is quite like Deadline Day in the footballing world.

For international players, how do junior teams work? If I manage a Portuguese team, during the off-season, will randomly generated players appear on my junior squad? I know Football Manager has a Youth Intake day and you’re able to fill your squad naturally like that, but EHM does not have something like that

St. Louis maybe should be in Central Division and Carolina with teams up North. Also did you think about Kansas City,Orlando? Also Southeast Division maybe.

Thanks for the feedback.

Existing real life NHL teams are in their current 2020-2021 season real life divisions (although temporary in real life). The expansion teams I added were added to evenly fill out the divisions in the format that works.

Orlando and Kansas City have lower level teams (AHL and ECHL teams), and due to 1.4 limitations, only 40 teams really works at the NHL level without breaking other parts of the game and/or not being able to finish a season at all.

That said, rumors that 1.5 may increase this capability, I look forward to expanding the NHL in newer versions of GUH.

In lieu of the pending Steam release of Global United Hockey 1.5, I am copy pasting the original post here. I will update the first post with the update within this thread.

Original posted on February 17, 2021, Compatible with first and last 1.4.1 release.

Global United Hockey features 90 new professional teams from 90 countries
AND
NHL, AHL, and ECHL have all expanded to 40 teams. Players from over 130 countries are now represented! Inspired by a few other custom databases/conversations (such as NHL32x and any of the NHL expansion dbs, as well as an international threads and the WHA project), combined with my own curiosity to expand hockey all of over the globe. This database is based off of the PremierPivot/TBL database created by xECK29x and his awesome team* I kept most of the original work from Premier Pivot January update, as well as including the Prospect Generator prospects from IAmActuallyAnOtter, compatible with the NPF AI-Generated Facepack. I did tinker with some of the CA/PA of some players/teams for balancing/personal preference, but thanks to xECK29x and everyone on that team and especially Archibalduk for this site/editor with updates to make all of this even possible (thanks for being so responsive and helpful for any requests!). Thanks to everyone I've talked to either here, reddit, or discord, I just realized that my username varies from each platform, so I apologize, but thank you for helping answer any questions directly or via forum. I've been working on iterations of this the past few months, but have a version that I am happy enough with to share. Especially in advent of the 1.5 update changing a lot, I wanted to push this out well in advance so people would play on 1.4.

Tips for Installation:
I do not have a steamworkshop account, so I have opted to upload this on mediafire to share. Please do not hesitate to reply in this thread , if you have any issues.
Adding detailed instructions for anyone that doesn't know:

Download Global United Hockey
This database and config file should go in it's own new folder within your EHM installation folder, usually located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Eastside Hockey Manager\data\database\GUH (or whatever you'd like to name this)

I have an unofficial graphics pack I put together, I will try to get a comprehensive list of credits at a later point, but I mostly pulled them off of clipart, or existing logos, so 90% of the logos are not my original design, and I have just tweaked colors, or shifted things around.
Logo pack here.
You can copy this into the appropriate folder here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Eastside Hockey Manager\data\pictures

(I also recommend the following Workshop Subscriptions: Dani9's Logo MegaPack and/or any other custom logo packs you have found on your own).

Full detailed features:
Global United Hockey
90 playable teams from 90 playable countries in a 3 tiered professional league system (naming based on Starcraft 2 ladders)
Image
Global United Hockey Master League - 24 teams, Gold, Silver, Bronze medals to the top 3 teams in a 16 team playoff, 8 team relegation playout, with the last place demoted to Diamond League.
Image
Global United Hockey Diamond League - 36 Teams, Gold (gets promoted to Master League), Silver, Bronze medals to top 3 teams in a 32 playoff format. 4 team relegation playout, with last place demoted to Platinum League.

*due to some financial settings, I've found it best to leave the teams blank to start the DB, and allow each team to populated from available free agents, with thousands to choose from added to the database.

I've added over 26,000 players imported spanning over 131 countries. GUH teams lie somewhere between the NHL and the KHL, so many of the NHL holdouts, or stalled prospects head to the GUH. In addition to the GUH, many of these players make their appearances in an extended International system. I have expanded the World Championship and World Junior Championship tournaments to allow more teams and aggressive promotion/relegation.

International Senior
World Championship - 48 Teams - 8 stages with 6 teams each, bottom team relegated (3 medals, 8 total relegated)
World Championship Div 1A - 12 Teams - 2 stages, 6 teams each, top 4 teams in each stage promoted, bottom 1 relegated. (8 total promoted, 2 total relegated)
World Championship Div 1B - 6 Teams - 1 stage, 6 teams each, top 2 teams promoted, bottom 2 teams relegated
World Championship Div 2A - 12 Teams - 2 stages, 6 teams each, top 1 teams in each stage promoted, bottom 1 relegated. (2 total promoted, 2 total relegated)
World Championship Div 2B - 6 teams - 1 stage, 6 teams each, top 2 teams promoted, bottom 2 teams relegated
World Championship Div 3 - 8 Teams - 1 stage of 8 teams, top 2 teams promoted, no relegation *as of now
International Senior total: 92 teams

International Junior U-20
World Junior Championship - 40 Teams - 8 stages with 5 teams each, bottom team relegated. (3 medals, 8 teams relegated)
World Junior Championship Div 1 - 48 Teams - 8 stages with 6 teams each, top team in each stage promoted, and bottom 2 relegated (8 total promoted, 16 total relegated)
World Junior Championship Div 2 - 40 Teams - 8 stages with 5 teams each, top 2 teams in each stage promoted (16 total promoted)
International Junior total: 128 teams

In addition to the playable leagues, each GUH team has 1 minor league affiliate, and 2 levels of junior affiliates:
1 development league Global Development Hockey Fundamental League, on par with the ECHL, 45 teams, serve as a shared farm club for all 90 GUH major teams, each GDH team has 2 parent teams
1 Major Junior, Global Junior Hockey Compleat League classified as a U22 league, just a step below the OHL, QMJHL, and the WHL, each of the 90 GUH teams has a junior affiliate to help develop their young players. Many players rights to this league can be used as trade fodder in the GUH, as well as the best of these players are well represented in the NHL and CHL import drafts.
1 Junior league U20, Global Junior Dev Hockey Elementary League, 45 teams, represented as the junior affiliate to GDH, also shares affiliation with the parent GUH teams, this is a lesser known junior league, that servers a a farm team for the GDH and the GJH representing countries that hockey is just starting to (fictionally) blossom.

Around the globe, 5 continental areas have expanded their hockey programs. All countries without existing semi-pro, university, junior, or high school had the appropriate teams added to the system, allowing for some homegrown development in new areas. 556 teams added to non-playable leagues.
African Hockey Travel League 28 teams
African University Hockey Association 15 teams
African Hockey U17 League 28 teams
African High School Hockey 15 teams
Asian Continental Hockey 48 teams
Asian University Hockey 37 teams
Asian Continental Hockey U17 48 teams
Asian High School Hockey 37 teams
European Hockey Travel League 20 teams
European University Hockey 47 teams
European Hockey U17 League 24 teams
European High School Hockey 47 teams
Oceanic Hockey Association 8 teams
Oceanic University Hockey League 6 teams
Oceanic Hockey Association U17 8 teams
Oceanic High School Hockey League 6 teams
Central America, South America and Caribbean Hockey League 44 teams
University Hockey of the Americas 23 teams
Central America, South America and Caribbean Hockey U17 44 teams
High School Hockey of the Americas 23 teams

NHL scouting has just become insanely vast, scouting from all over the world to find the next stars or pieces to their teams. I have created rebuilt version of IamAnActualOtters prospect generator, (Special thanks for his work on that as well!) expanding the name generation lists by a few thousand, which has helped me populate many of these countries full of players as well as help me build some of my very own unique stat combinations on players.

Speaking of the NHL, on top of the Global United Hockey league, I've expanded the 3 North American leagues to a full 40 teams, NHL, AHL, ECHL. Each organization has a tri-affiliation between all 3 leagues. In addition to xECK29x's existing Seattle roster, I've curated 8 new team rosters with International GUH players, I spent a fair amount of time rebalancing those rosters and salaries, but each new team can be competitive, and some can even become contenders with the right moves.

The added NHL teams:
Image
The added AHL teams:
Image
The added ECHL teams:
Image

I've restructured the NHL using the new divisional formats mixed with some traditional conference names. In addition to the real teams in the current divisions
Wales conference:
MassMutual East - Baltimore Bandits, and re-introducing the Hartford Whalers
Discover Central - Albuquerque Armadillo, and re-introducing the Houston Aeros

Campbell conference:
Honda West: Using xECK29x's Seattle roster, and also welcoming the Hawaii Honu
Scotia North: Halifax Highlanders (yes, I stole this from Goon, as well as the name existing in some previous databases, I decided to opt for the movie colours and logo), Saskatoon Silverfoxes, and re-introducing the Quebec Nordiques
With the exception of the Seattle team, I've populated, and tried my best to balance each of the 8 expansion teams with current players and prospects. (all documented in the NHL 2020 entry draft, rounds 8 - 16 current roster, and rounds 17,18 with the rights of some generated international players, to make things a bit random, I've made use of the -14 and -15 potentials, to give varying results each time you start the database)

With the additional teams, I wanted to grow the playoffs, but due to some of the lotto based logic within the game (14 teams at the bottom are seeded for the draft lotto), to avoid any potential cup or finals teams from being in the draft lotto, I changed the playoff format a bit (mimicking the SHL and bye rounds). 26 teams make the playoffs, 13 from each conference. The top team from each division, as well as the 3rd place team in the division receive a bye round into the playoffs. Seeds 4-13 in each conference play 1 round best of 5. Winner of the preliminary round makes the playoffs, seeding up with the top 3 teams from the conference to the regular playoff format we all know and love.
Image

The AHL and ECHL, do not have the bye round, but have 4 divisional 8 team playoffs, culminating to conference, and eventually cup finals.

A few notes that I like:
Maybe a player that was missed in the draft, or a late bloomer playing well in Global United Hockey, offer him a contract and see if he'll make his way over and how he fares in the NHL.
On the opposite spectrum, NHL RFA holdouts, contract holdouts may eventually be willing to sign with a GUH team, basically giving whichever team is lucky enough to sign him, a star player (unless this player chooses to stay or not). With this database, I've seen Alexis Lafreniere holdout on the Rangers, and play several seasons.
Similar to real life, some of the players may have the talent, but they may just want to stick around in their home country if they aren't brought over early enough.

A few known bugs:
There is staff error on July 31st 2020, which is completely passable, and have not found out the specific cause, but the game plays fine by clicking OK and continuing. Work around, start on Aug 5th

I left the GUH teams blank on purpose so the teams would populate with the correct financials. I originally tried creating preset teams for each, but the initial finances would just not set correctly. I've found starting with blank teams, and allowing the CPU or human GM to populate a team, all of the contract settings work correctly.
Relegated teams from GUH turn from professional to semi-pro. While this originally may have been a block, I can't seem to resolve it, and brought up with xECK29x, and potentially looked into more, but for now, it's just an unfortunate side effect.

Settings
Database size
Full Database size is pretty hefty. If selecting full database, too many leagues could have a slower experience, so I would trial and error on your computer. Personally, for the full DB setting, I run this version with either:
North American expansion only : NHL, AHL, and ECHL
or
NHL and GUH: NHL, GUHML, GUHDL, GUHPL
or
Global United Hockey: NHL (view only) GUHML, GUHDL, GUHPL

Normal and Large size database should handle things a little better in general, but trial and error what works best for you. There should be plenty of prospects either way.

Optional Settings:
Start Date: July 2nd, 2020 will have a staff error on July 31, 2020, which you can easily click ok and continue without issue.
OR
Start Date: Aug 5th, 2020, avoids the staff error above, if you start the game on vaction, I recommend starting here, as you will avoid the July 31 error message.
Start with fantasy draft (NHL only, teams are populated and expansion teams are curated, so you can start as is, but fantasy drafts are welcome, but long)
Use Randomized Details, I usually leave this unchecked.
Enable Fog of War, depends on your style of play, you can play with or without.

Recommended settings:
Disable Starting Financial Adjustments
Disable All Extra Staff
Disable All Extra Players
Retain All Teams

Anyways, sorry for the long post. But I hope you all enjoy. Any feedback, criticism, or praise welcomed.

Updated on 2021-05-15, see OP for details. Update on 2021-05-18, just adding text description here for some features that may not have been highlighted
First release on Steam
Changes from the original 1.4.1 version
Vastly improved financials, GUH is competitive with the NHL
New to this version: All current GUH players over the age of 23 count as previously contracted NHLers, meaning any contract can be offered. Any player under 20, or unsigned to GUH team counts as an undrafted NHLer and NHL entry level salary requirements apply,
GUH salaries: Entry level salaries: Min 475,000, Max 1,250,000. This gives the GUH teams a little leverage in keeping their players, although NHL teams can entice better players with bonuses. For the younger noteworthy GUH players, drafted players also need to sign an NHL contract in order to be able to break the entry level contract barrier of the NHL. NHL teams should also not wait too long to get their young studs signed, because after they are off of their entry level in the GUH, entry level restrictions are lifted around age 21,22.

GUH Master, Diamond, Platinum consolidated to a single 96 team league. (all 90 original GUH teams, and 6 new ones)
NHL and AHL expanded from 40 -> 50
ECHL and SPCHL combined and expanded to 58 teams
Logo and Jersey pack added to Steam
30,000 players and staff added and curated into the database

Thanks so much for the support and help! Really appreciate the shoutouts here and on reddit! Your editor really is the tool to bring all of this together, without that, there really would be no way to help create db's like this!

Side note: I definitely like finding the limitations of the game, so pushing it has been fun! 50 NHL (or main league teams, had prototypes for 90, 60, 54 team leagues that errored to the point of unplayable). Non-main league, but playable leagues, still pushing for the threshold, but 96 works, will try more next time! Did find a weird crashing issue in the actual game, not editor, if trying to view the info of a league with 200+ teams, haven't fully test the threshold to make the crash happen, but I split up many of the U15 leagues I had to accommodate this.

Thanks for the shoutout! One minor thing, low priority, could you update the image to the newer seasons graphics (the image on the front page is from the 40 team GUH 1.4 release)

One thing I may not have brought up at the release of the database, is the details of the upgraded financial system for the Global United Hockey system. I did think it out and test quite a bit, and I think the results are where I want them to be. But just to give everyone warning/information:

At the start of the game, all currently contracted GUH Master League players over the age of 22, are exempt from NHL entry level rules. This means, that FA level contracts can be offered to any player over the age of 23 that is in the GUH, many teams, especially the expansion teams will need to poach if they want to be competitive. Of course this will lead to some heavy poaching at the start of the game, but the caveat here is all players under the age of 20 are not exempt from this and have to follow the standard NHL entry level rules.

For newly drafted players (or unsigned player)
GUH vs NHL entry level
GUH entry level minimum is 475,000, while entry level maximum is 1,250,000
NHL entry level minimum is 750,000, and maximum is at 925,000

Many young bluechippers in the GUH are signed to the max 1,250,000, so it poses an issue for both sides. The NHL team has to offer them NHL entry level max plus bonuses to match their GUH salaries. The NHL team also has to choose to sign that player before their GUH entry level contract status is up, otherwise the players reach a place where they can command much higher salaries, that an NHL team cannot match on an entry level contract.

And even then, many players may be hesitant to move on. For the player, the NHL is still the premier league in the world, and in order to reach that echelon, they must first sign an NHL contract. I've found this has worked in favor of both sides in different situations, but incentivizes teams to sign their drafted players before they get big GUH contracts, and protects the GUH teams allowing them to keep their homegrown talent that decided to stick around.

On the opposite side of that spectrum, NHL RFA's previously signed to the GUH are now open range for contract offers if they hit any negotiation stalls with their NHL team. NHL team can't sign their young star to a new contract because of bad contracts? Stepping in comes a GUH team willing to throw a boat load of money at them. It's an interesting dynamic that at least in the testing has seemed to work out the way I intended.

I have played a little bit with your database, and it is awesome. The GUH really feels like a competitor to the NHL. The international system also works really well.

Thanks a lot! :)
